Never stayed there, but have been driving out to it for dinners with friends for years. The food, service, beer and general atmosphere make it a Place to go to. Mine host is ok too, even if he is from Yorkshire.

Stayed for next night on Saturday 21st November. We arrived at 5.45pm and had to wait until 6pm to get in. Graham had said if we arrived before 6pm to let him know. Entered through the pub part which is a bit of a shock..it's literally full of tea pots! Graham took us through to our room on the ground...

Mick looks after everyone who visits, ensuring that they are well fed and have everything that they need. The rooms are always clean and tidy. With great atmosphere in the pub. The food is first class and will certainly leave you full afterwards, even those with a big appetite.

The rooms are still great, welcoming, great bathrooms, clean tidy and warm. But now, technology has arrived in that part of the world and Mick now has a great broadband connection. You can stream, you can Skype, you...

Our room was good and recently modernized - the bathroom in particular was spotless and spacious. After a couple of hours in Cockermouth we returned and a enjoyed a good pub meal. Mick's teapot collection - 1000 in all - is quite something...

Once again Mick and the team provide a great experience. Gorgeous, well appointed rooms, very clean and spacious. The food remains very reasonable and great value with the huge portions. The kitchen continue to pRoduce fantastic feasts and something off the wall is no problem. A 5am start usually means missing breakfast, but the cuisine gods made a continental breakfast...
