Thwaite Cottage was the perfect location for a weeks walking holiday in the lakes. Not only is the cottage a picture postcard place to stay it is also steeped in history and hosted by a friendly couple who have great knowledge of the area to help with walks, geograpghy, history and pretty much everything else in between. It is the quirkiness of the house that is the real charm of Thwaite Cottage. We started coming when foot and mouth was rife and we make sure we go back at least once a year. When going in the summer or in the middle of winter you are always assured of a great welcome from Graham & Marguerite. The...

We stayed here while walking the Cumbria way through Coniston. This cottage is probably over 400 years old and is worth visiting for the architecture apart from the great welcome and good accommodation. Welcomed with a pot of tea and biscuits in the spacious guest lounge, Marguerite & Graham were excellent hosts with great local knowldge. Breakfast was very good....
