Stayed last weekend as a last minute getaway for my husband's birthday. We had to travel up after work so did mention this on the booking and we arrived at our estimated time of 9pm. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by one of the bar men who checked us in and explained about the parking arrangements. He...

It is a pity that this incident spoiled what was a very comfortable stay at The Yewdale but I make no apologies for my actions. The barman in question offered you sandwiches upon your late arrival and also mentioned that you could enjoy a meal at the excellent Indian restaurant nearby; he did not mention the takeaway option. When you...

Right from the beginning when my suitcase was carried upstairs for me the staff bent over backwards to make me feel welcome. The patrons in the bar were also very friendly. I stayed in the family room which was well and truly big enough for me. The bathroom sink is in the room, the main downside to this is there...

Just had a three day stay with some friends from San Francisco. Coniston is a great little place that is less popular than some of the honeypots of the Lakes. The Yewdale is nicely placed within walking distance of the jetty where you can catch the gorgeous steam driven gondola either around the lake or just a 25 min trip...

Staff very friendly. A small inn in a quiet spot in the Lake District away from the hubbub of the larger towns and the bus tours. The rooms are comfortable, but there is no lift so those unable to walk upstairs beware. There is a bar within the premises. The breakfast which was included was excellent value offering a variety...

Visited the Yewdale for 4 nights in September. Pub is centre place in the village of Coniston and ideal for the walking holidays. However being centre place in the village has its disadvantages. Basically the main road through the village runs straight past the pub and the traffic is relentless all night, and we are talking big heavy goods vehicles...

Thank you for your constructive comments. Your stay coincided with the closure for 3 nights of the main road to Barrow for re-surfacing work with a resulting diversion via our village. So the noise was unusual and we were all heartily fed up with it. We did apologise to all our guests and explain the situation. As a small country...

Nice hotel with lovely views. Beds small and bathroom compact. The late breakfast was very "late". No one appeared to serve us until 8.45 after the chef checked to see what was going on. By then breakfast room filling up so service slow. I pity the chef with all orders coming in at once!

Thank you for your review. Breakfast service was 7 minutes late one morning due to a misunderstanding on shifts by which time our Sous Chef had come out of the kitchen to personally take the first orders. So in fact, no-one waited longer for their breakfast than normal. Apologies were duly issued by my wife who took the blame for...

Stayed here with 2 friends on the first night of our cycling tour. Great pub in a brilliant location. Comfortable room, friendly staff as well as excellent food and beer. They even posted an item on to me that I'd left behind. Highly recommended.
