Mixed group of 14 staying for a weekend of walking. Good service and breakfasts and lovely rooms. Lovely grounds and easy access to lake Coniston. Short walk to village. A really good hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
There's a review down there somewhere that says it's ok if your over 60. I am and it's not. It does instantly remind you of a retirement home though. The thing is that there's just no flair about anything, it's all so dull.
We had been before for afternoon tea. This time the cakes had shrunk . But the evening meal portions were healthy portions & a nice Merlot . We ate there twice , tasty food .
