Ho Hum. Basic room, clean, small. No hair dryer, no television. Just a big of a strange vibe here. I was not in the main building but understand even there the rooms are quite small. I asked for a view and if the window was larger I might have had one. Breakfast wasn't great, typical eggs, porridge etc. but it...

Stayed with a friend. Glenthorne is a Quaker guest house but you don't need to be a quaker to stay. It is however calm / quiet and thoughtful in keeping with the heritage. Very friendly, staff helpful with information inc directions to really good walk to Rydal hall. Breakfast cooked for us, shared tables were just a friendly way to...

We have been coming to Glenthorne for about 6 years now but only just realised we had never left a Trip Advisor review. Glenthorne is a Quaker-influenced guest house just on the edge of Grasmere, away from the hurly burly of the village itself. It is an idylic location. You do not have to be a Quaker to use Glenthorne...

I've been to Glenthorne many times with my Quaker Meeting and my son but this was the first time I'd been on my own, for a half term break to do some walking. I appreciate the peacefulness and the opportunity to share in Meeting for Worship each day, to chat over breakfast about plans for the day, and share tales...

We arrived late afternoon at the Glenthorne after a long walk on our Coast to Coast journey. The guest house is a short walk from the centre of Grasmere, set in a huge garden and we immediately were made to feel very welcome. The rooms were a good size, very comfortable with plenty of amenities. The public areas were relaxing...

We paid £100 the night before in th Dale Lodge, to pay £115 here was a little too much for what you get. It's a Guest House with no frills (the staff are absolutely lovely) I think it's a b&b and worth £85-90

The room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly. Good food. Lovely setting. Good value for money. Well situated for lake district attractions . More suitable for elderly than for children I thought.

Arrived exhausted after a long day's walk on the Coast to Coast path to tea and cake being served in the foyer. Such a wonderful welcome. We were given a ground floor room - Black Sail - also very welcome given how tired we were. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The establishment had a very peaceful, unhurried air...
