Stopped here for lunch on way into grasmere. Surprised at price of wine - £11/glass which is a rip off. Would I go again - probably not. There was no atmosphere as bar empty - but st price not surprised.

Just returned from a short break at this lovely hotel. From the minute we walked into the hotel we felt well looked after. All the staff are very welcoming and happy to help. The food is beautiful and our evening meal was a good standard. We will return soon!

Swan Hotel is a perfect location to balance some strenuous hiking with a little creature comfort! Staff are very welcoming and the rooms pleasant and well equipped. Breakfast was superb - excellent quality and a wide choice. Hotel is surrounded by stunning scenery and only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Grasmere. Only comment I would add is...

We have just spent a night at this hotel to celebrate both mine and my husbands 50th birthdays. I emailed the hotel (via Macdonald central reservations) a few weeks before our stay to mention that we were celebrating big birthdays and to kindly ask if we could be allocated a room with a nice view. To note we had booked...

We stayed in an executive room and it was exactly what we needed with one of...

We had a lovely 3 night stay which was an offer we had received direct from MacDonald last year and booked it straight away. We had passed this hotel many times but had never stayed. We were greeted by Petra on reception who was very friendly and helpful. Our room was number 3 an executive room on the front of...

My wife and my self stayed at the Swan for 5 nights bread and breakfast at a special rate which offered exceptional value. On entering the hotel we were greeted by the warmth and smell of a log fire and by a young Argentinian receptionist who took the trouble to help us to our room with our bags. The room...

We stayed for two nights at The Swann and had a wonderful weekend. The hotel was cosy, with great views and a welcoming atmosphere. Our room was comfortable - and the Arran Aromatics toiletries very good! We both slept very well - though the squeaky floor above us and along some corridors was a bit irritating. The food was good,...

Call in on a freezing day while out walking with the dog for a hot drink and a warm. Two open fires where keeping the place warm and cosy. We got two hot chocolates which came with a shortbread which was lovely. Recommend a call in when out walking.
