Returned today from 3 nights stay here, we stayed in a camping pod, kids loved it. Was a good experience, however recommend more for summer! The main house is great and will definitely look into staying in the rooms available in the house. Games/tv room saved the day with four little ones to entertain in dark evenings. Staff couldn't do...

After searching high and low for a pooch friendly one night pod stay, I finally stumbled across YHA pods!! Staff super friendly, great breakfast, lovely hostel and perfect little pods. We had a great stay and will be back :) The pods are lovely and cosy with beds, a futon, lights and electricity :) Thanks YHA Hawkshead for a great...

Comfortable and cosy for a stay in Autumn. The self catering kitchen was extremely well stocked. Loved the fire baskets for a campfire in the evening. 15 min walk into the village so brilliant location. Will definitely return for another visit

My partner booked a night in one of the pods for us, as we were looking to take our toddler to the nearby Beatrix Potter attraction without breaking the bank. It's been a long time since I stayed in a hostel, and I was concerned that years of hotels and room service might have left me turning up nose up...

Not a bad YHA. Staff friendly and good service. We have stayed many times in Ambleside YHA and this one felt a little isolated compared but easily walked into Hawkshead for an evening meal as only a mile away. Breakfast good and bedrooms comfortable enough. Nice enough but our me I will try Ambleside again when on a walking weekend...

Thanks for your review. We pride ourselves on our rural location but appreciate that it is not to everyone's liking. I'm glad you will still be using YHA, even if it's not here at Hawkshead.

I visited for one night recently and was blown away by the architecture of the house for a start. The bedrooms were great the food was lovely the self catering kitchen perfect for socialising over garlic peeling and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will be back for sure! Like most yha hostels I stayed in, the only...

We stayed in a three person pod. Pods were secure and clean with enough room for the two of us plus luggage. Three people would be a real squeeze though. The toilets, showers and self catering kitchen were great. Give the showers time for hot water to run through but they're powerful. Staff were friendly throughout the stay but there...

When we arrived minus a lost suitcase to find we had somehow not booked a room the staff went above and beyond to assist us. Ended up staying in a pod which was surprisingly comfortable. Facilities all clean and up to date. Few more hooks in pod would be helpful.

Wanted somewhere to stay while we attended a family party and thought we would give the YHA a try. The pod did the trick, warm with comfy beds. Clean toilet block and an amazing setting. Greeted this morning by grazing sheep outside the pod. Had breakfast in the hostel, it was ok. Would use the pods again, great value family...

We stayed here for a family wedding. Pleasant staff. Decent breakfast - which for us was thrown in, but probably worth the additional money if it hadn't been. The main building is in a grand style, but needing a bit of TLC. However we stayed in one of the wooden pods near the camping area - which was interesting. Ours...

Thank you for leaving your review. Your feedback on the pods is very relevant as we are looking at ways to improve them at the moment. We're also working through a scheme to improve the appearance of the buildings too. Hopefully you will re-visit us again to see the changes
