Another fabulous weekend at this hotel. Fab staff and food as always. Only reason for only scoring a 4 out of 5 this time was no bath and poor water pressure in shower but apart from that is was great.

What a lovely weekend we had! And what a lovely hotel with beautifully thought out bedrooms. The main reason for this review is to rate the food- excellent doesn't cut it! Our meal on the Sunday evening was THE best we have ever had and we have dined in a lot if places ! The steak is to die for!...

We've stayed at the Queen's Head several times over the last few years. It's always a pleasure to go back; good food, friendly staff and the rooms are lovely. The rooms were refurbished fairly recently. We've stayed in the suite and the standard double and we'd happily recommend either. Shame there isn't room for some cosy seating in the bar...

We have visited Hawkshead many times and sampled other hostelries but this is our favourite. We have been just for drinks and the real ale (of which there are several choices) is kept in great condition. We have also eaten here and found the quality is top end pub style. The service has always been good and the staff very...

We went for dinner 4 adults and two teenagers on a Saturday night. The pub was very busy. The starters of belly pork, garlic pizza bread and potted shrimp cocktail were all delicious but the ordered assorted breads with oil never materialised except on the bill! Three ordered shepherds pie, 2 pizzas and I had braised lamb shoulder. My dish...

Pork belly and crayfish starters were lovely. 3 of us had the shepherds pie and red cabbage special it was lovely...

Went on a Sunday break offer. Which included Sunday lunch, room, breakfast, papers, picnic and welcome drinks. We should have eaten before 2pm then we would have been ready for something to eat later. As it was we just fancied a drink or two but the hotel is really for eating. It only has a small area for drinkers with high stools which...

This was the second time we stayed at the Queen's Head. We returned because my husband had a lung transplant just before Christmas and during an incredibly stressful time in hospital for both of us we kept ourselves going by dreaming of all the lovely places we would visit again when he was well - and this was one of...

The restaurant has such a lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff had excellent knowledge whilst being very friendly. I had crayfish followed by the chicken in a barley broth. ...absolutely gorgeous. My husband had the pigeon followed by lamb which were both perfectly cooked. Was an exceptional meal for us both and a lovely experience from start to finish. A...
