I went with a group of friends and we took up most of the rooms for the weekend. Staff were very friendly and made us most welcome as a return visit. It's an old historic pub in the village and not top of the range but my single room was basic, warm, clean and with a comfortable bed and ensuite...

this is a cosy pub with a log fire and cosy lounge , we ate there twice in our stay in the lakes and found the food to be average to good but not worth the prices charged. I know the prices are similar in all pubs nowadays but once you get past the £12 threshold for a main it...

We have only ever been in here for a drink before but yesterday that all changed when we decided to have lunch. everyone apart from the 5 year old cleared their plates. (ok I had some chips left...

We stayed a ten minute walk away at number 19 guesthouse who recommended the Red Lion to us so we decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed. We ate in the restaurant part and with having a toddler I always feel slightly nervous eating in restaurants as other diners and some staff can sometimes be dismissive...

The oldest pub in Hawkshead offers good beer and a bustling atmosphere. We visited it twice on our recent visit and on each occasion it was packed. There are TV's so expect sport to be on. Friendly staff and guests/drinkers. Didn't eat here but the food being served did not look as good or appealing as other pubs in the...

A trip to the red lion is defiantly recommended. We stayed with our dog and were made to feel at home, the food was home cooked and delicious, especially the steak and ale pie which came as a huge tasty portion. Breakfast was also great with friendly service setting us up for our day walking. Good food and a friendly...

We were celebrating a family event and went to the Red Lion for an evening meal on Friday. We had pre booked and we received a warm welcome on arrival and shown to the tables set aside for us. Service was both friendly and efficient. The food was enjoyed by all from a 4 year old to 59 year olds....
