The Glen is a family concern with an excellent reputation for friendly service and large freshly cooked breakfasts using local produce. It is situated on the outskirts of Kendal, in a quiet location in its own grounds under "The Helm" (local walk and view point of Kendal, the Lake District Mountains and Morecambe Bay), but within a 200 metres of country Inn and restaurant. All rooms are en suite, with most having bath and shower. For that special occasion we have, our Luxury suite with en suite Bathroom with shower and a double room with large en suite bathroom with Double Bath and separate walk-in shower. We have a large family/twin room with view of 'The Helm' plus a large ground floor suite with king size bed. All rooms have freeview TV with DVD. Outside, relax on our patio before taking an evening walk on 'The Helm' to watch the sunset over the Lakeland Mountains, then a drink or meal in our local Inn.

Bill and Pauline do a fantastic job of running this wonderful guest house.

The breakfast is really quite delicious and you are provided with many different options for fruit, cereals, yogurt etc., along with your choice of cooked breakfast items, so you can vary it each day if you wish. It is complimented with your choice of drinks and presented in a very lovely way. They were also very helpful in accommodating our gluten free diet, serving up gluten free sausages and toast as part of our full English - just the thing for a full day of walking!

The room was very clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities, and was also dog friendly.

It is in an excellent quiet location, next to the Helm which is good for walking with great views of the surrounding area. The pub just over the road does really good burgers and ales.

If we are ever planning to stop in the area again, then this will definitely be our first choice!

Lovely guest house in a great location. Bill & Pauline were very accomodating, and even made an exception to allow our dog into the dining room with us for breakfast due to her separation anxiety. Lovely room, modern and very clean with every last detail thought of - even down to mini scissors for opening tea/milk sachets etc! We had the 'cosy double' room - it was quite tight with 2 adults and a large dog but was fine for a couple of nights, if we stay again we would pay the £20 extra for a larger room. Breakfast was brilliant, as were the hosts. Highly recommend!

Lovely gem of a guest house. The owners, Bill and Pauline are first class hosts! Nothing is too much trouble and they are friendly and informative without being intrusive. Breakfasts have been perfect - well cooked and beautifully presented. Everything is spotlessly clean and we have everything you could need provided in our room. All the correct procedures Re COVID are in place and everything sanitised and cleaned to an extremely high standard. Faultless. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend a stay here, we just wish we could stay longer. Five star!

The room was lovely, very clean and very comfortable. Lots of plugs in good locations around the room, including USB charging sockets. The hosts Pauline & Bill are outstanding, so friendly and helpful. A welcome email from them was really nice with directions and explains some of the covid guidelines in place. Large bottle of water delivered daily. Kettle and tea coffee tray in room with lots of choice including decaf tea and fruit teas and biscuits. Breakfast was fabulous, really fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection with lots of choice. Free car parking and good wi-fi. Lots of really nice touches like a mini torch on the key holder and scissors with the tea tray (to cut satchets).
Hotel is close to a pub/restaurant called the Station Inn which does good food (needs booking in advance). There is an Asda a few minutes drive from hotel for any bits. The hotel is approx 10 mins drive from Kendal and 25 mins drive from Bowness. Overall an outstanding hotel and thoughtful owners that made for a truly relaxing and refreshing holiday.

What a find this guest house was! Pauline and Bill are the best hosts, so very welcoming and accommodating, it was like staying with family or friends.
We requested an early breakfast one morning as we were catching an early train to spend the day in Edinburgh, and Pauline was more than happy to do it.
The room was clean with a comfy bed and a good shower, there are little touches that make such a difference like scissors in case you can’t open the coffee/milk sachets and the remote for the tv had obviously been sanitised and placed in a plastic bag. There was a fan in our room which was very handy as the weather was very hot!
The breakfast was lovely and there is plenty of choice to suit all, the mushrooms were the best I’ve ever had!
The location is also perfect, close to Kendal town, there is a pub just a few minutes away and the train station is only 5 minutes away too.
I genuinely have nothing negative to say, this is the best guest house we have ever stayed in.

We stayed at “The Glen” for 6 nights for a local golf tournament that my husband was playing in - from the moment we arrived till the minute we left we were looked after perfectly - breakfast was amazing & everything was so fresh. Rooms were spotless and comfortable with lots of various teas & coffees etc. We had a lovely view of the hills from our room & we could go for a walk without taking the car. We will definitely be back next year if the tournament is repeated.

The highlight of the trip is the absolutely fantastic hosts Pauline and Bill. They make you feel so welcome and left you to it after a little chat. They made us smile every day of the trip and Pauline even went out of her way to compliment me after seeing me dressed up for the evening! For a weekend away in the Lake District, the value for money was excellent. The room was perfect and contained all the facilities you could ever ask for and included a room top up sheet if you needed anything else! Breakfast was incredible, with an easy to use pre-order form you were invited to choose from different fruit options, cereal, yoghurt, toast and all the cooked options, or have them all (which is what our greedy selves did). Everything was extremely fresh and very high quality, the meat was locally provided and just beautiful. I cannot fault our stay at all, we will be back soon!

he Glen is located close to the railway station and, arguably more importantly, to the local pub where they serve excellent meals!

Our hosts were great- attentive throughout and always looking to ensure that we had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent with many choices and always with fresh, mainly local produce.

Our room was clean, tidy and had just about everything needed including a tray of just about all types of tea, coffee and even hot chocolate. All-in-all, we were well looked after during our four night stay at The Glen.

The only negative point was that our room was adjacent to the road. For most of the time, this was no problem but there was quite a lot of local traffic early in the morning which was a little disturbing.
