I found a very nice team in Kendal Hostel always open to advice you what you can visit in the town and in the Lakes. The hostel is not far from the city centre and you can visit the Lakes by bus. There's an interesting arts centre next to the Hostel, The Brewery and a delicious Thai resto opposite.

We loved our one-night stay here while walking the Dales Way. The building is RIGHT in the middle of town - couldn't ask for a better location - with lovely views out the back over the Brewery Arts Centre and gardens (which is great for pizza and beer!). We stayed in Room 6 which was a private room with double...

The people running the hostel were really lovely, kind, and welcoming. Also lovely doggy and kitty too! Our second night had us moved into a shared dorm room because we had accidentally booked a double bed rather than two bunk beds (probably my fault, though the Kendal Hostel website does list Room 6 as having Bunk Beds, it also lists...

Located in the fascinating heart of this small, beautiful Cumbrian town, this is a quirky yet homely place to stay - none of the floors are level, the entrance is like walking into someones lounge and the shower / hot water supply would better be described as a drip. Nevertheless I had the best night's sleep for some time, thanks...

This was the perfect place to stay over on the 2nd day of our annual bike ride. We were a group of 9 males and were accommodated in the annex to the main building. We were split 5 and 4 and both en-suite rooms were comfortable with good sized beds (lot of hostels have small beds to get more in)....

The staff in the hostel were very helpful and friendly. The room was large, and thankfully warm, with the bunk beds being more solid, comfortable and larger than a typical YHA . The location was great in the centre of town which has lots going on, including the Brewery Arts Centre next door. There is pay and display parking behind...

I stayed here overnight for an interview and I had some of the best service I've ever had in a hostel - the staff looked after my bags during my interview, ensured I had a room on my own (without me asking), booked me a taxi and even gave me a homemade scone and a cuppa afterwards!

Let me start on a positive note... Comfy bed, nice fire in reception, central location, friendly man on reception, weatherspoons around corner for breakfast... Now to the lack of customer care by the owner... 30 of us stayed while doing a charity challenge walk.. Several rooms booked 6 months before.. Confirmed exactly which rooms we were booking several times with...
