Awesome to see the carpets have gone. Ate dinner in the restaurant which has absolutely no atmosphere. Make sure you ask to eat at The Cottage area, which is warm and cosy. The waiting staff need more personal training. Not once were we spoken to apart from what we would like to order. Crooklands is appealing to tourists, but as a local I did not even feel welcome. When plates were cleared we were not asked how we found the meal. My partner's meal experience was sad, the gammon was thin and dry. The sherry trifle had no cake in it and definitely no sherry. The creme brulee was like instant pudding. However, my cod was fresh and flaky and I would have it again. The St Clements cheesecake was really lovely. There is potential but still needs that little bit more to make one feel they had a great night out.…
The room was very clean and covid safe and provided all you needed. Excellent food in the attractive restaurant , the staff were all so friendly and attentive and need praise for their professional attitude. It was an ideal base to explore the Lake District Breakfast was plentiful and cooked very well . We really enjoyed our stay.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS ### This is the worse place I have ever been to for food. I took my family for a treat after going out for the day, I had steak &ale pie I tried eating it because I was hungry it was revolting extremely low quality poorly made my guess bought in made in a factory somewhere, mushy peas out of a tin, chips where dry and shriveled more like fry's defently made the day before been Monday 2 august , the pie started making me feel sick within 3-4 mins of starting my meal. My wife and oldest daughter had the burger dry tasteless it said steak burger on menu definitely no steak in it maybe frying steak . No kids menu forcing you to buy an adult portion which ok if it wasn't this disgusting I wouldn't of minded my youngest had what was labeled fish and chips don't be fooled this isn't haddock of anything close to they used low quality white fish that was bland dry and fell to bits it actually took the moisture out of your mouth when you chew it I think they must of expected you to rehydrate it and season it with your own saliva I started feeling sick and was sick at home with immediate watery fluid out of my bum and belly ache I had not eaten anything since the morning which was an apple. We paid 66 pounds for this meal no wonder they asked for the money up front I would of never paid the bill apsalute rip off l for all four of us I felt completely ripped off absolute trash and it made me sick i could not unfortunately complain as I felt so sick just wanted to leave immediately WARNING DO NOT GO HEAR UNLESS YOU WANT TO WEE OUT OF YOUR BUM .…
I joined 32 family members at The Crooklands to celebrate a big birthday, and to celebrate release from lockdown. The hotel was beautifully clean, comfortable, and the menu was varied, interesting, well prepared and very cheerfully served. Although legal Covid restrictions had been lifted the place felt very safe with the staff wearing masks and other guests showing considerable respect for social distancing. A great venue, handy for the M6, Kendal and a short hop into The Lakes. In fact, a good place to escape those crowds. All told, a great choice of venue, a great place for a short break.
Stopped in to book a table for the next day, however they were fully booked with 2 events and were unable to accommodate our request. Janet was on Facebook looking at other venues within the area, and even rang to book us a table at another venue. 5 🌟 for Janet for going the extra mile
