Myself and my husband spent a couple of days in Kendal for my husband's birthday and so glad we chose the Highgate Hotel. Linda the owner was very nice and couldn't do enough for us. We were given room 2 at the back.of the hotel which was quiet as the front of the hotel is on the main road. The...

This is a 17th Century House situated on the main street but with excellent secure parking to the rear for cars/motorcycles. All the floors, doors and stairs are at interesting angles and provide a unique character to the property. If you like and Ibis or a Premier don't stay here. If you want interest and a personal welcome by the...

As a child, I was sometimes packed off to my Grandparents' house. They were the only smokers in the family. A stay at the Highgate Hotel brought the memories flooding back. It's not all bad - although the location is noisy, even for rooms at the side - but the overwhelming prominence of tobacco has certainly taken it off the...

I really liked this hotel. It’s a lovely old building, situated on a busy street. Despite this I wasn’t much bothered by any noise from the traffic. The hotel has its own private car park, which you need a code for in order to enter. Since one of the rooms we needed was a family room, we had to call...

We enjoyed our stay at the Highgate Hotel. Built in the early 1600's as a physicians home. The rooms are small but more than adequate, the location is great for walking around the village and the staff are super nice and supportive. Jill, the proprietor, is delightful and helpful. As we were leaving Jill told us there is a ghost...

Stayed for our first Wake the Lakes rally, travelled with friends who booked for us. Superb location for rally. Breakfast very good too - plenty on the plate and nicely cooked. Made to feel welcome straight away by Jill and Linda. Twin room on front very comfortable. See you next year hopefully !!!

Stayed for 4 nights in this lovely grade 2 listed hotel for The Wake The Lakes Festival, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and clean, it had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.

We were lucky to have a sat. nav. in our rented car as it can be difficult to find the hotel in a busy town such as Kendal. It is located on a busy street with off road parking at the back of the hotel. You need a code number in order to enter the car park. The code is...

My wife and I booked in at short notice for the weekend of 6th-8th February 2015, having failed unfortunately to get in at any other of the busy locations. We had read the previous reviews so not surprisingly had some misgivings to start with. The building is allegedly 400 hundred years old and is not without a certain charm. There...

Stayed for 2 nights in this lovely hotel, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and clean, it had everything I needed. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, even the fried eggs were perfect. Would stay here again if I ever had cause to visit Kendal again (the reason I was...
