Just come home after a wonderful three nights stay at Stonegarth. We had originally only booked for two nights but having such a lovely time in Keswick, which is a place we often visit, and having booked Monday morning off work we decided to see if we could get an extra night. Having already checked out that morning and only...

Stephen and Di set out to tick all boxes: personal welcome, opulent furnishings, up-market toiletries, sherry in room, stocked fridge. Scratch under the surface, and there's no real friendly service, nor any genuine concern for a guest's comfort. We joked the first morning than they seemed to find having paying guests a bit of an inconvenience; by the second day...

A long weekend in Cumbria in early spring is not exactly mouthwatering. But when the accommodation is this good and the hospitality is so warm, then time of the year becomes irrelevant. Stonegarth guest house is an unassuming beauty in the outstanding town of Keswick. The guest house is positioned in a quiet street 5 minutes from the town centre...

As you walk through Keswick something strikes you. It's full of stone fronted, single bay window and single front door houses. These are mostly B&Bs, all have those little "(No) Vacancies" signs and breakfast tables set in the bay windows. They seem identical Stonegarth is a step above this, a great jump above in fact. We stayed here for two...

What an absolutely lovely guesthouse. From the minute we walked in we were made to feel very welcome by Steven and his lovely wife Diane. We were shown to our room, and how lovely it was, a very comfy four poster bed, lovely Egyptian cotton clean sheets (I am a bit of a freak about nice bedding..so this was defiantly...
