Only 5 mins drive from the M6 junction, and a further 5 minutes into the centre of Penrith. This is a lovely country pub, with very friendly staff. We had a hearty breakfast before setting off to Scotland. I'd go back again next time I was in the area, as it is so convenient and reasonably priced.

We recently had a meal here. Portion size of the starter was very small. Turkey Dinner was poor. Turkey tasteless, all of the veg seemed to be creamed why ? Service was good and friendly. We visit this area a lot, not sure if we would go back.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Very welcoming staff, no request was ever a problem, lovely open fire on all the time. food was divine and fresh ( BBQ ribs to die for) would come back to this hotel just for that. Not much in Stainton itself but perfect location being...

A comfortable place to stop off at. Good staff, food and drinks. Watched the cricket on the village green and visited the local alpaca store. The hotel was out of way which meant a quiet night. The hotel took a little finding so make sure you have a good GPS!

We stayed at this B&B on a recent visit to Penrith and it was lovely, quiet and friendly. There is plenty of parking round the back. Our room was a double and very tasteful with a lovely new bathroom and double shower. TV was great and it had tea/coffee facilities. We had dinner in the restaurant and the meal was...

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip, arriving at 20:30 in the evening. Richard, the proprietor was very friendly and hospitable and although the hotel stopped serving food at about the time I arrived, I was offered the opportunity to have a meal. My room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast (I had the full...

Good friendly service right from the start. The room was spotless, not large but not cramped either. The large bed was luxurious! We slept like logs. Did not eat here in the evening as we met friends in Penrith (3.6 miles away in a taxi) but we did have a drink in a reasonably well stocked bar. Breakfast was very...

The Brantwood is nestled in Stainton just off the A66 on the way to Keswick or Ullswater. We did not stay this time but had popped in for dinner with family friends. A very good meal and at a reasonable price though the one selection of veg could be reviewed for the dishes offered. The staff are very friendly and...

I stayed here overnight for business. The location is nice and quiet surrounded by greenery with a pub not too far away. The rooms look to have been modified and are very comfortable! The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is because the reception was always unmanned and that was an issue when it came to payment and...
