We stopped here en route south after finding a DBB deal. The reviews seemed good and I was worried we may be disappointed - but it was great. On a Monday in January it was rather quiet, and having arrived late we were the only...More
We ate here on Sunday morning. Both had a Full English breakfast, good quality. Was able to amend slightly, swapped mushrooms and black pudding for toast. All cooked perfectly to our liking. Coffee and orange juice included for £9.95 each.

Stopped for dinner and though we would have a Shephard Pie.
What a disappointment. The sauce was runny, the peas were really hard. The vegetables must have been cooked much earlier...

Hi Janet it's in the centre of Penrith so has shops, a food market, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. To be honest I found the windows in The George whilst sat having afternoon tea great amusement as it enabled me to figure out where to go.
Hope this helps.
We did a lot of walking but from Keswick and then walked to Derwent water. We caught a bus from penrith Bus station (next to train station) which runs every 30 minutes both ways to Keswick and walked from there.
