We thoroughly enjoyed an evening here with friends. 18 of us in all which did not cause a problem as the Dappers Bar is very large. We enjoyed good wine and bar food and were well looked after by the bartender on duty

Me and my partner went to this hotel just for one night to get away from the kids and to have some peace and quiet. Well I can say the hotel was lovely and peaceful. There was literature about how old the building was and an interesting read. The food was outstanding. The only let down was the room. Looked...

We stayed here for three nights over the bank holiday weekend. On arrival, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, especially the tall dark haired waiter who never seemed to leave (so sorry I didn't catch his name because his service was really excellent!). The car park is a little small, but we were grateful to have somewhere to park...

The room was warm and comfortable and clean - just what was required after a long journey. The bathroom facilities were also good with lots of toilettries! The only downside to the room was the view from the window where we could see over the back yard and the backdoor to the kitchens where the staff came outside to smoke!!!

A really nice hotel, great building with very helpful staff, dinner was excellent and the room like much of the hotel has been recently updated to a high standard. The only issues was over done bacon at breakfast and a somewhat lumpy bed!

We stayed in The George Hotel on our way to Scotland as it was about half way. The hotel has a private car park which was adjacent to the hotel and the welcome and service were excellent. Our room was very good and we enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep. We also eat in the hotel and the dinner was very...

Arrived early, navigated our way to the car park, (please sort the post code for car park before you set off for your sat nav, it will save you several trips round the one way system). Room not quite ready - drink in bar lounge reasonable price, clientele in lounge mainly of a "mature" age (afternoon tea). Room recently upgraded...

Stayed at the George Hotel for a weekend break and managed to get a package throughsecrect escapes which includes a 3 course meal, breakfast and tea and scones per visit. We were using this as a base from which to get to the lakes and stayed out most of the time so didn't get round to sampling the tea and scones....

Visited The George this week with my parents for lunch. This is a lovely old fashioned hotel beautifully maintained and perfectly located in the main street with parking at the rear and with staff whom are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The bar area menu is very good and offers simple sandwiches through to full meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch...
