Stayed over on the way to Scotland with our children. The family room was really nice - recently refurbished in what I would describe as "Scandi" style - quite minimalist. The kids beds were in the window seat - one was a pull-out from under the other - and the kids loved them. There was complimentary bottled water, lovely shortbread...

On this trip south I stayed in a dog friendly room (which was good to see the size of the room for when my two dogs come with me on another trip). The room spec was good and there was no smell of dog which I was surprised by, given that the receptionist had checked with me that it would...

We stay at what was called The Westmoreland Hotel when travelling to and from Scotland. It is part of the family owned and run M6 services at Tebay. Take some time to visit the farm shops in the service areas. You will be impressed by the quality and variety of the produce. The hotel is welcoming and you will stay...

I love this place, the staff are delightful and friendly and have made my overnight stays a treat. Excellent dinner menu in the restaurant overlooking their landscaped waterfalls. Clean well designed rooms, dogs welcome (posh dog food and bowls provided and easy to walk them late at night or early morning). Often tempted to stay an extra day rather than...

Fabulous oasis of a hotel just off the motorway but you'd never know it. Fabulous service, great food, good wines and lovely rooms, mostly with fantastic views. We've stayed four times and there will be many more!

We stayed here on our way up and back from a Scotland trip in November – a perfect stopover. Positives: Fantastic hidden and quiet location given that this hotel is sited adjacent to a motorway services. Views and grounds are hard to beat -see photographs; the hotel even has its own 'moat' and water cascades with a lounge area reminiscent...

Definately much better than a typical motorway overnight place, there are at least four good reasons to recommend this hotel. 1. The room quality is very high, nice attention to detail like the boutique soap and artisan biscuits , comfortable beds, proper bath. 2. Lovely, and unexpected views from bedroom - and quiet. 3. Great restaurant within the hotel -...

It's a real shame that I'm having to give this hotel a poor review, we have stayed here many times and had some great stays, but this time it wasn't up to scratch. The staff weren't as attentive, in fact on the first night we ate in the restaurant and although the food was good it wasn't fantastic like before....

Why can't other service stations / hotels be more like this one ? Privately family owned and run and this obviously makes a big difference. Stayed for one night, booked late so paid a bit more than average, so if you can plan ahead, it will save money. They welcome dogs and there are set-aside rooms, which have food bowls...
