Had a lovely time here. It is quiet and peaceful. Takes about 10 to 15 mins walk into Ambleside. Views from the house are fantastic and the rooms are large. Good value for money. Host is friendly and helpful.

Tucked along a quiet access road populated more by walkers than by vehicles sits Foxghyll, with the river running alongside. Beautiful quiet spot amidst the hustle and bustle of Ambleside. Paul is a charming host and is a bit of a one man band, with his side-kicks Barry and Roy, his two little dogs. We had a beautifully appointed room...

My sister and I visited March 2017 for a 4night midweek trip, keen to explore all the sights of the Lake District. In our 30s we wanted to stay somewhere special, centrally located, easy to access but beautiful, peaceful and tranquil for our very first visit to the area. Simply could not have picked a better location or B&B, Foxghyll...

Really enjoyed our stay here. It was very quiet and relaxing and away from the main road. The bedrooms and bathrooms have been recently refurished, so looking good. All 3 letting bedrooms are large and have comfortable beds. Paul is an excellent host and cooks a very good quality English breakfast. There is a large well kept garden with a...

This is a beautiful, historic and charming house and garden, with comfortable and spacious rooms, set in a perfect location close to some magnificent walks to Rydal water, Grasmere, Loughrigg and Ambleside, and with a very warm, friendly and helpful host in Paul. We had a lovely week's holiday here in October with other family members and cannot recommend it...

This is the place to stay in Ambleside if you are looking for the cleanest rooms, the comfiest beds, the best breakfast and the location not forgetting the friendliest of hosts. Just outside of Ambleside itself, you can walk into the town over the little bridge and across the park, approx 30 minutes or a few minutes drive. Nowhere better.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at Foxghyll. Just to clarify to anyone else reading this review. We are situated 0.9 miles walking distance from central Ambleside (Zefferellis Cinema). [Along Under Loughrigg road, over bridge through Rothay Park]. I would personally say this is between 10-15 minutes...

We are repeat visitors to FoxGhyll Guesthouse from 12 months ago from Australia. This visit we had our elderly parents with us - and again it was the most wonderful place to stay. Paul is just such a pleasure and willing to provide any assistance with what is on and where in the Lakes. Our rooms were just wonderful. We...

Just visited this great B and B in Ambleside. Great stay and a wonderful house! Beautiful and private grounds to have a walk around and overlooking the river and just a short walk from the town. The room was perfect with a newly fitted ensuite. Breakfast was everything you want and plenty of it, very tasty. I'll be going back!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night, bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed our stay. The place had a lot of character and the room was beautifully decorated with a large modern bathroom, which exceeded our expectations! Very friendly owner, we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was lovely too-...
