The hotel is an old character building like most in the area and as I for one would expect when visiting the area Frequented by such famous people as Beatrice potter and William Wordsworth etc. the hotel building is well maintained the owners brothers Alistair and James Tasker I believe inherited the building from their parents have spent a lot...

Lovely stay at the lamplighter and we arrived Thursday afternoon to be met by James the owner. He was very accommodating and helpful as were all the staff. He had no issue with the dogs as he is a dog friendly hotel. The room was spacious with a comfy bed. Would definitely go back again. Thanks for a great weekend...

Arranged a last minute overnight stay in Windermere and booked a room at The Lamplighter Dining Rooms due to it's proximity to the train station (across the road). Rang prior to my arrival to ask if I could drop my bag off prior to checking in as I wanted to make the most of my time there...not a problem. I...

We stayed here for one night on a DB&B basis. We arrived soon after midday and were able to check in immediately. Parking was straightforward at this time of day. Our room was of decent size, though it could have done with a couple of paintings on the wall as it was rather plain as it was. Good sized bathroom...

On arrival we were shown to our room which we were told was a 'Upgrade' & I must say the room was very nice.We were then offered our 'free' cocktails, my wife had bellini, which consisted of peach juice & prosseco, I don't drink cocktails so had...

The hotel is central enough to walk to the centre of Windermere and a couple of minutes from the train station, which also has buses to Bo'ness, Ambleside, Grasmere etc. The room was very pleasant with a good bathroom. Dinner was excellent, with the added bonus of a very informed bar man as to what wines would go best with...

The car parking needs to be sorted out as getting a space is more luck than anything else. Most of the time the car park is full. The rooms are good, a couple of the showers are on the small side. But good overall. The breakfast is included and good value!

I booked this hotel through the Travelzoo offer and we were not disappointed. There were no problems with parking, the room was comfortable and the hotel is just a short walk to plenty of shops and bars. The evening meal was superb and breakfast the following day was delicious and filling. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was...

The deal included a cocktail and 3 course meal on first night. Cocktail was good, barman even took time to write out recipe for us as we had not come...
