If your looking for comfort and luxury then this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you want value for money, somewhere central and clean then the Briscoe lodge will tick all the right boxes. I stayed in the ground floor apartment, as previous reviews explain it can get a bit noisy overhead from the comings and goings of... More

Basic but clean room we stayed for 1 night and had to change nights last minute, really accommodating. 5 minutes walk from town centre. For the price you can't really complain and would definitely stay again.

Excellent accommodation, stayed in a sc cottage. Parking, wifi, clean, warm, good showers and bunk beds, perfect for our two children 10 and 12. Lovely size kitchen with all mid cons. Would definitely recommend and use again. Lovely hosts.

Stayed for 3 nights during the half term holidays. We stayed in the ground floor apartment and found all amenities as described though I would describe the decor, furniture and kitchenware as basic but functional. The oven did take some working out as the dials no longer had markings and the oven temperature light was missing so waiting for the... More

We stayed in the self serviced apartment behind the B&B on the ground floor. The parking is just outside the apartment and it is so convenient. It is big and has two bedrooms, bathroom, big living area and a separate kitchen. It is comfortable. Access to surrounding attractions is easy by car. Owner is a very nice and helpful man.

Had a great few days here with my boyfriend, booked as a surprise and couldn't enjoy it more the owners couldn't do enough for us. Fantastic!!! Close to everything and beautiful scenery from our bedroom. Went for a few walks suggested by the owners which was fantastic lots of leaflets to guide you aswell.

My partner and I stayed overnight on our way up to Scotland. The owner was incredible helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was on the smaller side but was beautiful and clean and included everything we required (and more!). Considering the price of the lodge we hadn't expected much but were very pleased. Breakfast in... More

We stayed in the self catering flats. The flat looked new and was well furnished. We had a problem with the toaster it was replaced immediately. Owner was really friendly and accommodating. Really close to town centre so easy walking distance for shops and food. Would highly recommend.

First time at Lake district and first place where we stayed, we were pleased because we needed a budget place to stay. Room was on the 1st floor facing main road, but it was not too noisy, however, just opposite there is fire station so be aware... Host was very friendly and helpful with tips where to go and what... “If you are bothered by noise at night - book the upstairs flat. In the downstairs one (where I stayed twice now as it has much bigger kitchen and is easier to pop out for a ciggy outside) one can hear absolutely everything from upstairs, all walking/talking/everything. This does not reflect on the owners in any way at all - it is just the design of the flats. So depends on who is upstairs, what time they come back at night etc etc - the noise levels can bother some people.”
