We love the Holbeck Ghyll, and have visited several times over the years. We hope we're always coming back when we fancy a treat. Personally I love the Art Noveau styling, the relaxed atmosphere and yet excellent standards. We also appreciate the fact we can...More
We have been returning since our honeymoon here in 2010 so about time I updated my review. See my earlier review "Honeymoon Delight" in 2010 as not much has changed. We stayed for 2 nights in the same room and absolutely loved it. Comfort and...More
This is a second visit to Holbeck Ghyll after a brief 1 night stay in September. The management and staff have such a great attitude that we have taken the opportunity to return.

This could be such a beautiful country house hotel if only the owners could lavish some money, and love, on the fittings and furnishings. Admittedly, we didn't have a choice of room since we only booked a few weeks beforehand, but our Langdale suite was dingy...More
Just returned from a most fantastic weekend here with my wife and family. There seems to be a change of management and several new members of staff are now part of the team. The rooms we had were fabulous and the service we received excellent,...More

No, not possible to walk to a Pub from this Country House Hotel.
It's not easy to find a convenient parking place in this Hotel between the profusion of Maseratis and Porsches when I was there , so you get the picture !

Hi, We always take our cocker spaniel to Holbeck every time we visit. (usually twice a year) We would recommend a lodge room if you have dogs, they have fabulous views of the lake and fells and open straight onto the garden. Jemmima Puddleduck is probably the best as it has a lobby before you enter the room, so its handy for cleaning the dogs up if there muddy.
Dogs are not allowed in the dining room but there are great spots to sit by the Inglenook fireplace in the hotel.
There are fantastic walks everywhere around the hotel and most places you will visit are dog friendly so you should have no worries on that score.
Hope this is of help
