Where to start - the room was tiny, everything (kitchen, bathroom, hallways, rooms) was dirty...the bathroom upstairs had the same hair in the bottom of it for the two nights I was there, toilet paper kept running out. The reception was unmanned, never met the owner, they leave a checking in list on a noticeboard upstairs, but they didn't on...

Would like to think I had a bit of a one off experience but I was not reassured in any way by the management. I was emailed the combinations for the front door and the private room I booked, found the property fine and signed in upstairs and found my room on the arrivals list. I wasn't phased that this...

Hi, Me and my friends spent the May bank holiday in the hostel, 3 nights only. We stayed in a room for 6 girls, the last night they added one more person in the room (over booking), and we had to move all our bags just so they could put one more bed. No space at all. We were 7...

The place is almost always clean (except for the bathroom at the end of the day - as you would expect, but they clean it up nicely the day after). Plenty of bread, milk and other breakkie supplies are available in the kitchen. Sharing 2 bathrooms in total between 5 rooms can require a bit of strategic planning, but it...

Was a bit weird to have no manager etc in sight, but after we got used to it we had a great time. You have to pay in cash on arrival so make sure you have correct change. It is right next to a supermarket, train station and the tourist info.Only disadvantages was that the kitchen facilities were very dated,...

This hostel was conveniently located close to the train station. The hostel was spotlessly clean. The dorm was quiet and warm. The manager was easy to contact by telephone or email. Highly recommended. The only thing that would have helped would be directions from the train station as it is not easy to find high Street in Windermere. Had a...

A strange hostel in that it's completely self-service. But in saying that, it was a hassle-free stay.  The check in process is fairly easy but you have to pay in cash on arrival, so be prepared. The heating was set on timers so it only came in the mornings/evenings which means that if you come back to your room during...
