We stayed at the end of November in Capelcrag. A lovely room with a four poster bed. Sherry decanter a nice touch. Bottled water and tea/coffee naking facilities. Lovely bathroom although the shower wasn't very hot there was plenty of hot water for a bath. Breakfast was very good - help yourself to cereal, juice, yogurt and toast and a...

Stayed here as visiting my gran near by. The room is nice, relatively good value for money. The service was good and breakfast was really good, with cereal laid out. Then a starter like porridge or fruit salad. Then a nice cooked breakfast.

Hotel is immaculately kept, really classy. It's just out of town too so very easy to walk to and from. Parking at the back is a bit tricky to get in and out of but no big deal. Definitely will be back

A first visit by us and stayed in the Meregill room, it was nicely furnished and decorated and the nice touch of a small sherry decanter and bottled water was enjoyed. A good bathroom with decent facilities. Breakfast was excellent all freshly cooked, pre-order hot food the night before, service efficient rather than warm and friendly. The room proved to...

We stayed for one night on our way over to grasmere. We were greeted by Gosha, who was very warm, welcoming and professional. We stayed in the Retreat which we found was superb and very private with a separate entrance and lovely water feature which would be lovely to sit and listen to in the warmer months. Very clean and...

Stayed at the howbeck 'retreat' suite yesterday as a celebration for our anniversary. We had booked for 2 nights but we're so disappointed that we checked out after 1 night. We paid £200 per night which was costly but liked the look of the spa bathroom. Had a spa bath at 3.30pm and afterwards wanted shower to wash hair and...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Howbeck on the 5/11/16 for one night. The room was so lovely and clean, the bed was so comfy and the breakfast was amazing. Definitely coming back here again for longer next time :)

This was a pleasant hotel however it definitely lacks the special touches that would make it 5 star. Our room, The Mickeledon was overall nice. However on closer inspection it was a little rough around the edges. Flaking paint around Windows, bubbled and peeling effect on top of dressing table and a handle also missing. The duvet cover was old...
