My partner and I had a last minute visit to Windermere this weekend and booked this guesthouse online without any knowledge of the place and we was not disappointed. We were welcomed in by the owners of the guesthouse Jennifer and Steven. Jennifer gave us lots of information about the local area and showed us to our room which was...

The Archway is the perfect place to enjoy a break in the lakes. We were made to feel very welcome and there were lots of lovely personal touches including home made biscuits in our room and cake in the lounge which you could help yourself to. We were given lots of tips and information about the local area; good places...

We stayed at the Archway Guesthouse for two nights. Our room (Rydal) was - albeit a little small - very cozy and tidy. Plus, Jennifer had put some biscuits in there that were very delicious. It was little things like these (including the self-made musli for breakfast and her giving us maps with walks etc.) that made us feel like...

stayed here with my wife for a couple of days after the new year and I must say that it was a lovely little guesthouse, very warm and cosy inside. Jennifer & Stephen are lovely people who make you feel very welcome and give you all the help you need on your stay. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, bed was...

Absolutely great breakfast without a doubt. Another thing we liked about The Archway is that freshly baked cake was downstairs everyday . It was fantastic and loved the...

We only spent one night at the Archway but that's more than enough to be able to recommend it highly. Everything others have said is true: from Jennifer's welcome and home-made cake, to the very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom, the large DVD library, wonderful views, brilliant location, this guesthouse is wonderful. We were fortunate to be able to have...

What a pity we only had one night. On arrival we were led into a cheerful lounge/dining area. A large bay window looked out onto their colourful cottage garden. Food was in abundance. A freshly baked cake awaited us in the dining area whilst home-baked cookies welcomed us in our cosy bedroom. The beds were comfortable (always essential). We were...

We stayed for four days and it was perfect : great breakfasts, lovely hosts and rooms. And the free cake was fabulous too. Would come again in a heartbeat. Even bought their homemade jam which was delicious.

What a wonderful, homely stay we enjoyed at the Archway, lovingly run by Jen and Steve. After arriving earlier than expected our friendly host (who was delightful throughout our stay) was ready without any ado to show us to our comfortable room: Coniston with stunning views out across the fells and binoculars to enjoy it perfectly placed on the window...

My partner and I had a two night stay and did not want to leave. The homemade cookies that we're put in our room everyday were superb, as was the freshly baked lemon drizzle cake and banana bread!! Continuing with food, breakfast was a veritable feast!! So many options to choose from including our personal favourites, pancakes with maple syrup...
