Was attending for a prebooked lunch event. Menu choices made a month in advance. Tables booked for 1pm. Starters didn't come out until 1:30! Apparently there was another large lunch party booked for the same time and the New Chef couldn't cope. We were a group of 30. The other party couldn't have been much more. Then to make things worse, when the main courses finally arrived everyone's fondant potatoes were stone cold . By the time the maitre de, came to talk about being more out we'd nearly all finished our meal! The waiting staff were lovely, but this is a hotel that has been doing this for years they should be able to provide 60 covers of pre booked meals on time and hot. To end the endless tea/coffee didn't materialise either. In all honesty, I won't be coming again, it was the worst experience we've every had. The waiting staff were the best thing about the lunch. Also there wasn't enough got vegetables!

Booked this hotel as it was nearby the De Montfort Hall where we were headed, and we knew it from our family past. The hotel certainly hasn’t lost any of its charm, I was surprised how Leicester had changed and some areas were quite “frightening” to walk through with my elderly mum, but the Belmont was situated in a safe and charming part of the city We were warmly welcomed - from a chat with the gardener who was sweeping the leaves at the front of the hotel - he was so friendly he set a good tone. We had a beautiful room that overlooked the church and new walk. Very comfortable twin beds, and a superb clean & modern bathroom. The only downside to the room were the cobwebs found in various places… but considering lockdown - it wasn’t a surprise! Went to the fab Indian restaurant at the end of the street which was superb, and had a nightcap at the hotel. It was quiet and peaceful. Even though the rooms had single glazing, we slept well We were looking forward to our breakfast and on the whole it was good, excellent attentive staff but the bacon was hard & the food couldve been warmer. We will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone else visiting Leicester

The staff were very friendly and our room spot on. There was an electric heater in our room which we needed to use as the central heating was not very good. We were fine when we used it though. The breakfast was very good and the hotel location perfect. There were plenty of eating and drinking places close by and a bus stand around the corner. We would definetely stay here again.

I stayed overnight in a compact but nicely decorated room. Excellent bedding, spacious and well equipped bathroom, plenty of storage space. There was ample parking on the premises. Staff were friendly. The breakfast was excellent, served in a spacious and pleasant room. Very conveniently located for a work visit to the University. My only issue, and the reason for 4 and not 5 stars, is that, in line with feedback from other customers, the wifi simply didn’t work, and the TV seemed to have limited access to some standard channels, why no BBC2 for example? But all in all, a very good experience, and would definitely recommend.

The Belmont would have got a full five stars if it wasn’t for a few defects that we had on our visit. First the good points, great location, free parking, friendly staff, great food in the restaurant and nice spacious rooms (well, room 220 was!) The bad points,Wi-Fi kept dropping out,the ‘hot’ water, well, wasn’t,more like luke warm and the bar closed at 10.45pm,couldn’t get a night cap, even though we were residents. Other than that, nice hotel and I would return.
