Set in an elegant Victorian building nestling in the lush beauty of the private Egerton Gardens, The Franklin combines the warmth of a private home with the impeccable service of a luxury hotel. The hotel was refurbished by celebrity designer Anouska Hempel, whose work has helped create a temple to hospitality. Here, the charm of an English house meets the magic of Italian design, and the result is a unique, original style that has transformed The Franklin into one of the most outstanding boutique hotels on the London scene. Its common areas are embellished with sumptuous Italian velvets and silks, exclusive furnishings in grey tones and sophisticated decorative objects. Every one of the 35 spacious rooms and suites is a distillation of elegance and style. Flooded with natural light, tastefully decorated and boasting the finest contemporary comforts, they are sure to live up even the most demanding expectations. Most offer views of Knightsbridge or the lush green of Egerton Gardens. The Franklin Restaurant offers a superb gastronomic experience created by Michelin-starred Chef Alfredo Russo. The Franklin Bar is a stylish, Gatsby-esque world, a wonderful place to enjoy a Martini cocktail or a glass of Champagne. The Franklin offers very high standards of personalized service with Les Clefs d'Or Concierges, 24-hour room service and a team dedicated to organizing unforgettable experiences for the guests. The hotel also features a spectacular hammam, a fitness center, and a cozy library.

The Franklin London - Starhotels Collezione is often celebrated for its chic decor and serene atmosphere, with many guests lauding its spotless cleanliness and luxurious amenities. Nestled in an upscale neighborhood, its location offers convenient access to attractions and public transport, which is a highlight for numerous travelers. While rooms are recognized for their comfort and cleanliness, some guests have noted them to be on the smaller side. The service is generally acclaimed for attentiveness, although there have been instances of inconsistency. However, the hotel's value has come under scrutiny, with reports of unexpected charges and concerns over cost-effectiveness.

We spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The room, staff, and breakfasts were wonderful. The location was great as it was a short walk to South Kensington tube station which connected to the lines we needed to hit all of the major spots as well as being right next to the Natural History museum, Victoria & Albert museum, and Hyde Park. Perfect staging area for first time tourists. The only drawback was the height of the tubs for getting in and out of the shower.

My wife and I travelled to London for our 9th wedding anniversary and we chose to stay near Knightsbridge to do a little light shopping. We were recommended the Franklin by some friends who had stayed there pre Covid so we booked for 1 night, this is all we could manage to get away from work and our children and would have stayed longer if we could have!!
Location is perfect if you want to shop as it is located 5 minutes walk from Harrods and Harvey Nichols. There is a clear Middle Eastern/Moroccan influence here in a subtle, trendy way.
This hotel is a beautiful hotel so it is very condensed but very well laid out. Check in was very easy and informal and we were shown to our room within 5 minutes of arriving. Our room was on the fourth floor and it was perfect, very quiet, clean and just what we wanted. The bathroom was lovely with a large bath, overhead shower and all complimentary accessories you need. The bed was huge and the cotton sheets, duvet and enormous pillows were very welcoming!!!! Breakfast was not included in our package so we chose the breakfast package on arrival and my wife and I chose the full breakfast option (£25 per head) as opposed to the continental (£16 per head). Firstly we had a wonderful array of breads, hams, salmon and cakes along with our coffee and freshly squeezed juices. Then our main breakfast arrived which we chose from the menu, my wife had the poached eggs on avocado and I had the skillet with eggs and tomatoes, delicious. !

Dear Brighthelmstone, Thank you very much for your review. It is great to know that you chose our hotel through a recommendation of a friend, and I am delighted that you loved the hotel and location. The hotel design by Anouska Hempel does indeed echoes influences of Morocco and Italy, inspired from her travels. Best regards from all of us, and we hope to have you staying with us again soon. We had a two night "staycation" in Room 404, a Deluxe room on the top floor overlooking the gardens.

Although we arrived very early to drop our bags off before going to lunch our room was ready and we were given a friendly greeting and a drink while we checked in.

The hotel was designed by Anouska Hempel and greys and mirrors feature strongly! The room was based on mirrored furniture and grey walls with a comfortable bed and adequate storage space. The walls were adorned everywhere with prints of leaves and plants adding to the effect and the floor was wooden.

Perhaps the plugs were at a lower level than ideal. Less common now is a fully stocked mini-bar but prices were somewhat steep and we avoided it, the only criticism was that on arrival there was neither a coffee machine or kettle in the room (which there was supposed to have been) but this was put right when we queried it - coffess were not replenished though although all the towels and linens were changed.

The bathroom is bright, albeit with no external windows, in light beige with a ceiling shower within the large bath and a separate hand shower.

Our room included breakfast taken in the lovely dining area overlooking the gardens, the continental breakfast was excellent with a large choice and the cooked options very nice. Service in the breakfast room was excellent and service is the watchword all over the hotel, Very friendly staff and a lovely relaxing place to stay.

For Knightsbridge and Kensington attractions The Franklin is an ideal base and one we would certianly recommend.

We stayed at The Franklin in early January, and it was simply the best hotel experience I've had in a very long time. As one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World participating in Hyatt's World of Hyatt rewards program, I was able to book this stay with Hyatt points. In addition, The Franklin observed my Globalist status and extended to me all of the status benefits, which doesn't always happen at SLH. Their attention to detail, willingness to help, and insistence on maintaining a beautiful, relaxing environment were exactly what we needed on our vacation. Every time we returned to the hotel after a day out, the staff remembered us and our names. I always hate asking for special accommodations at hotels because I know it's a pain for the staff, but when we mentioned that we had a very early flight on the day we were departing, they offered to get coffee and breakfast boxed up so we could eat/drink on our way to Heathrow. I cannot say enough great things about this place. It is a bit off the beaten path, but as long as you're willing to taxi/Uber/walk a bit to the Tube to get around London, it's an excellent place to stay.

I loved my stay at the Franklin, the hotel staff were super accommodative and professional throughout the stay (especially when I asked to switch to a room with a walk in shower rather than a bathtub). Rooms are modern and spacious (some could be a tad too dark), the hotel has a beautiful bar, but the main attraction is the incredible location a few minutes walk from Harrods. Would definitely go back.

Overall I was very happy with the stay.

Pros :
The hotel is romantic & luxurious.
Service was 10/10!
Quality of bedding and towels were high quality.
Clean.
Rooms were spacious!
They provided turn down service, with complimentary bottled water, free mini cookies.
Provided umbrellas
Close to the underground station and Harrods

Cons:
Tv was too small and too low down for the room,
Air conditioning was weak! Did not cool the room down at all. We then slept with the windows open, which cooled us down.
Bed wasn’t sturdy.
Hammam smelt really damp (quite off putting)
Ordered pizza on room service! Really poor! Came slightly warm and hardly any cheese with a thick thick base. We did not eat it (they took the charge off)
Breakfast I ordered avocado toast with poached egg! Very very small portion and was not worth the price.

Would I stay here again, yes I would but would not eat at the hotel.

Your stay at the Franklin will be memorable. The rooms have been stunningly appointed by celebrity designer Anoushka Hempel. The tiny bar is so cosy it feels like home. The Michelin restaurant offers small and perfectly shaped portions of dishes. This place in a quiet corner of Knightsbridge / South Kensington ticks all the boxes of a luxury hotel. It has truly the WOW factor.

Literally the nicest hotel we have stayed at in the UK and not just because of the room, the staff we absolutely amazing, couldn’t do enough for us and made it so special. The moment you walk in you feel you made the right choice of booking, well done you.
We stayed in an executive suite for our 10 year wedding anniversary and the room did not disappoint everything was perfect and we wish we could of stayed another night just so we could enjoy it all over again and taste the most delicious hotel breakfast ever made.
The location is fantastic and is set in a quite avenue which in London is hard to find.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and I hope we get the opportunity to stay there again in the near future.

My husband and I went for a 4 day stay in London to enjoy some of the capital’s best offerings, museums, exhibitions and theatre productions. Bedroom had a large comfortable bed but it did take up most of the floor area in the room so you are very cramped. The bathroom was small (the door banged against the toilet so would not open fully) the bath had very high sides, makes it uncomfortable if short or not able bodied. Floors very slippery. No armchair to enjoy watching television ( only terrestrial t.v. available ).
Staff very attentive , polite and really willing to please. Food was excellent, breakfast very slow but delicious if you go for the cooked option. Take care if you ask for water instead of juice they will charge you for a bottle of water but you only find out when you settle at the end of your stay.
All this you can put behind you but if you like well lit and light airy rooms then you have come to the wrong place, everywhere was painted black with mood lighting, it can feel oppressive and depressing. Not a place to stay if you appreciate some personal space around you.
It is in an excellent location, you are close to Harrods, Victoria & Albert Museum, Natural History Museum and restaurants , but it was not comfortable enough to come again.

This is a beautiful hotel which scores highly on location and staff; the rooms and common areas are clean and tidy and the restaurant, although on reduced menu, still adequate. So far so good, the hotel however suffers from one of the common problems in London, that of space. There is practically no wardrobe (or equivalent) in the rooms and space is limited. This may not be an issue if you travel solo or if the plan is to not spend much time in the room or if you don't mind keeping everything in your case during your stay; -this gets us to the second problem, the hotel has no common areas that can be used, easily and flexibly, for business purposes, like a meeting, dealing with urgent calls and the like. There is a library but it needs to be booked and comes with some cost, there is also a bar area but it's small and not appropriate for a business call/meeting. So I ended up spending many hours in the room which made the space issue significant. I was in the equivalent of an attic, the window was small and the view was more top floors of adjacent buildings than the gardens. All in all a bit claustrophobic. Given that this is a 5*, I would have liked more for my double deluxe.
