Novotel London Paddington is appreciated for its strategic location near transport links, making it convenient for guests to explore central London. However, the experience is marred by mixed reviews about room cleanliness and noise disruptions from renovations. While the staff's friendliness stands out, some guests have encountered service issues. The hotel's atmosphere strikes a balance between elegance and comfort, yet the value for money is often questioned, with several travelers feeling that amenities and services don't justify the cost.

Hotel's Favourite

We stayed at the Novotel for our daughter’s first London Trip, and we absolutely chose the right hotel! Located just a few minutes’ walk from Paddington, it’s a great choice for easy transport links, and as it’s located right within an office district, there’s a great food area less than 2 minutes away with Pret, Greggs, Wagamama, Sainsburys, Itsu and a salad bar and a lovely seating area with deck chairs. There’s also a Black Sheep Coffee seconds away right across from the hotel which has now become a new favourite coffee place!
We arrived early so asked if we could store our suitcase and this was no problem at all, and were warmly greeted when we returned to check in later, all staff were really nice. You need your room key to access the lifts which is always a big plus at hotels for security reassurance and plenty of lifts available.

The rooms are great, really spacious and the building works didn’t impact our window view of the lovely area below at all. There were complimentary bottles of water and tea/coffee facilities and Rituals toiletries. There was easy to use air conditioning in the room which was very well received for a sunny 28 degrees day. The hotel is lovely and quiet at night and we had a great night’s sleep!
We also received a nice welcome card and chocolates to our room in the early evening which was a lovely surprise!
Now to address the issues raised in other reviews- do NOT be put off by the complaints about renovations! Yes the exterior of the building is not as nice as normal, but it made absolutely no difference to our stay and we also got a fantastic price for the night (£192 for a four star hotel in central London!!) and as said previously, our room view was not compromised at all. We heard 2separate guests in front of us at check in commenting on the fact renovations were going on and being grumbly about it- it cannot be any clearer that this work is taking place on the Accor website, and if booking through a travel agent i’d be very surprised if they failed to mention this!
But as the renovations are taking place between 9am-5pm (and when we arrived at around 4pm we could hear no building work at all) I’d also say this.. if you are a tourist staying in an exciting capital city with so much to see and do, who wants to be in their hotel during the day?!

We will 100% return to Novotel Paddington in the future- thank you for a great stay!

I think this hotel is a very good option. Price is reasonable. Location is good in my opinion -not in the heart of the action but near beautiful Little Venice and next to Paddington Basin which continues to evolve with plenty of modern eateries. Plus of course great transport links. With regard to the hotel itself, I think there was renovation work on the GF (it did not impact me) but check-in was friendly and professional. My room on the fifth floor was a good size, nicely furnished with air con and most important of all it was very quiet. I would have given 5 stars but the carpet, although clean, had quite a few historic stains. Surely try the deep clean machine on it and if that does not work just replace it. I’ll be back and hope to see this done. Thanks.

This hotel is in such a good location for central London however just outside of all the Westend madness, the hotel is surrounded by restaurants of all budgets so food choices are not limited. We have stayed here twice and each time the staff has gone above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one decorating the room with balloons, cake and bubbly as each time we were there to celebrate a birthday. the pool and spa area is compact but very pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel although not the cheapest of choices it makes for a lovely Central London getaway.

On arrival we were assigned a room with stains on the carpet and curtains also workmen and noise on the 4 floor. My daughter was informed that the workmen would only be there during the day! My son wanted a sleep following a long journey therefore not conducive to rest shouldn’t need an explanation. We were reassigned to a room on the 6 floor which was very dark and also had stains on the carpets and curtains! I discussed this with the senior person at reception and she eventually assigned us with a room on the 8 floor also included robes and slippers for 2 there were 3 of us. The teas, coffee and milk were not replaced adequately also no complementary biscuits. I felt that the attention to detail was completely lacking also the offhand manner used when addressing complaints giving me a not really bothered atmosphere. My son went to swim on the Monday and was told to leave the gym at 11.00 even though it was the pool that was being cleaned and the fitness area being closed at this time wasn’t stipulated on the handout given on arrival. Definitely a lot of staff training required for this establishment.

1.Novotel hotel, Paddington, was terrible, they didn’t keep our luggage in cloak room for 2 days only ,when we were staying in the hotel for 3 more days after the gap of 2 days, they had Racist behaviour. They were keeping luggage of others, the picture I have shared with Ritesh of Thomas Cook of the cloak room. They told at last moment of our travel to Portsmouth which I had already told Ritesh, and made us spend around Rs. 12000.00 and the mental harassment has no cost we have added, and mental torture of our family.
When we used to come back at 10.30 p. M. Or so from our daily tours in London they didn’t refill the shampoos, body lotion, soap , toilet paper, and when we called nobody picks up in the reception, I had to go almost every 2 days to fetch items as they said after 10.00 nobody comes up. What a nightmare experience of our fmly after spending hefty Pounds, saying Sorry doesn’t solve any problem. The property also was under repair so again your PHD in providing warn out properties welcomed us by Thomas cook .

Dear anishavlani, Many thanks for your comments and feedback. I understand your disappointment with regards to not being able to store your luggage for a prolonged period of time in our property and I can assure you there was no prejudice involved with our decline. As explained to every guest staying in our hotel, we have a quite limited space for luggage storage, which means that luggage can only be stored for a same day collection. As you rightly said, quite often, our luggage storage space is completely full due to many different circumstances, such as early arrivals, late departures from individual travelers, families and groups, hence, the reason why the impossibility for us to accommodate requests for overnight storage. The information pertaining the renovation works currently being carried out in our property is clear and transparent in our webpage, in the pricing details during the reservation process and on the confirmation email sent with every reservation booked directly with us. The same information is conveyed to all third parties, travel agencies included and replicated here; "Hotel in Renovation - Structural works on the the exterior facade. Limited outside view and excessive noise expected from Mon-Sat 09:00-17:00. The swimming pool will close due to works in the pool area. Contact the hotel to confirm if the closure will occur during your stay." May I also take this opportunity to apologise for the poor service experienced with regards to the replenishing of the amenities in your room along with the assurance that your feedback has been shared with my housekeeping team to prevent the same from happening again. We hope that when the time is right you will give us the opportunity to welcoming you again in our property or one of our sister properties during a future visit to London. Kind regards - Paulo Bernini - Operations Manager.

Shocked at the condition of this hotel, it is in desperate need of some TLC.

Carpets are stained and dirty
Beds are like concrete
Pillows are lumpy and uncomfortable

You can't use the pool at your leisure you have to book a spot and for the first two days we were here the pool was fully booked, in all our years of travelling we have never come across this.

You also don't have access to the gym you have to go down to reception and ask to be let in.

Rooms are not serviced we stayed 4 grueling nights and not once was the floor vacuumed, surfaces wiped down, tea etc replenished and the mugs were never cleaned. We did get fresh towels but had to ask for our rubbish to be removed and for more toilet paper.

Rooms are very small and there is no Aircon so they get very hot.

For the price of the rooms we would expect more, much more this hotel is far from a 4 star I would barely give it 2 I have stayed in much much cleaner hostels and camping grounds.

Do better Novotel do better

Dear tlabone, Many thanks for your review and feedback. My most sincere apologies for the experienced with the servicing of your room, along with the assurance that your comments have been shared with our housekeeping team. As an experienced traveller, I trust that you will understand that regardless been marketed as budget, midscale, upscale or luxury; location and demand will have a significant impact on pricing. In regards to the controlled access to our swimming pool, it is important to highlight that differently to a holiday resort, our indoor swimming pool has a maximum capacity of 11 users at one time, which require us, in special occasions, such as school breaks, to implement a booking system to better control and prevent overcrowding in the swimming pool. We trust that regardless your clear disappointment with the facilities and services provided, you and your family have enjoyed your visit to London and, when the time is right, we hope that you will give us the opportunity of welcoming you and your family again. We remain at your service, Kind regards, Paulo Bernini - Operations Manager.

When we arrived it was explained you need to book the pool area but didn’t explain on the handout that the gym and pool were closed at 11am for cleaning and maintenance. The handout only said the pool was closed at this time and not the gym.

When we got to the floor our room was on at lunchtime as we arrived early before 2pm check in, there was maintenance work going on on the whole floor with work men and equipment everywhere on the floor especially in front of the room door making it difficult to get in and out especially as was next to a storage cupboard.

The first room we were given was not that clean with stains on the carpet, wall and curtains. There was also drilling happening which could be heard and a member of my party wanted to sleep as we had been travelling since 4am.

Went to reception to complain about the workmen and noise as room was not suitable. Was told the workmen would not be there all day. The whole of the 4th floor should have been closed to the public as there was about 5 or so work men and equipment laying about the floor along the corridor as well as housekeeping. Corridors are not that wide for getting by with luggage with equipment laying about.

Was given another room to look at which was so dark as it overlooked an office block. The first room that was dirty was lighter as had a view of the West End of London. The third room was better, cleaner, more light and no noise for having a nap and resting before going out to explore London. Tea and coffee wasn’t adequately replenished for a 3 night stay either.

Stayed in Novotels before and this one was by far the worst one I have stayed in. Staff just didn’t seem that helpful and you were made to feel like an inconvenience. Customer service was not the best unfortunately which spoilt the weekend and the stay for a birthday trip. Wouldn’t stay here again when visit London.

Traveling with extended family, we had booked two rooms for 5 nights.

Positives:

*Hotel is a 7 minute walk to the entrance of Paddington Station
*some restaurants, cafes and small supermarket very close by.
* Hotel has lovely pool, sauna and steamroom
*has room service plus restaurant bar facilities, good menu options and breakfast variety buffet.
*room can accommodate 1 adult and 2 children
*staff were friendly and helpful to assist with any questions plus special thanks to Jessica the Duty Manager for trying to put the following room issues right

Negatives:

*no usb plugs , had to use adapter which is difficult when you have 3 phones to charge at one time
*Room was dated especially the bathrooms, missing basin plug pull handle, over use of no more gaps filler that contained old ground in black mould, shower door would not seal therefore allowed water to leak onto bathroom floor.
*Dirty marks and old stains on walls around toilet, door handles, light switches, bedside plus very dusty upon top of bedhead.

The dirty walls were promised to be cleaned during the day while we were out , I returned at 8.30pm with my young children to find the room had not been addressed we then vacated the room to the restaurant so the cleaner could come in. Not ideal with kids after a long day walking around.

*website and supporting pictures needs to be clearer about the double sofa bed is actually split down the middle by metal frame into two small single beds not really not suitable for teenager or adult to use.  Because of this we had to book an additional room for my teen nephew to stay in . The duty manager kindly offered a very good nightly rate for this.

After much discussion and explanation of the issues between my sisters family room and my family room she offered my sisters family the new designed spec room that had some more modern features and different style sofa bed for the remaining nights.

This hotel is by no means a 4 star!

We booked a room for 4 for 3 nights.

When we arrived there was a lady in the room who spoke neither English nor French, it was impossible to understand her, no sign to suggest that she worked here. I go back down to reception and they give us another room. We are leaving to visit London when we return at 11 p.m. the room is not ready, the sofa bed is not made and bathroom linen only for two people.
I try to call reception, the phone doesn't work.

The next day I go to the reception because when I wake up a man is in front of the bedroom window (see photo) because the hotel is being renovated, it feels strange when you are on the second floor.

No coffee maker, no slippers, no bathrobe, old rough brown blanket (see photo) in the cover of the second bed, a hair dryer placed under the desk and not in the bathroom, I have never seen a 4 stars with such mediocre performances. The second day we still had to throw a duvet on the bed to replace the blanket without putting it in place (see photo).

When we wanted to go to the swimming pool, we found a bunch of unsupervised children jumping in all directions and going in and out of the hammam and sauna.

Very simple and limited breakfast, capricious toaster and staff who are not very pleasant.

I reported all of this to the hotel staff gradually without any reaction.

The day before departure they told me that they were going to leave us slippers free of charge but these were not free, we are still waiting for them, they never made it to the room.

On the last day a lady calls me at 10 a.m. when we leave at 11 a.m. and speaks impeccable French to me. Already I'm wondering why she didn't contact us before but let's move on, she explains to me that the work is reported at the time of booking confirmation, so I would have preferred to have the information at the time of booking and not of confirmation. That the swimming pool is not her responsibility but that of the parents and apparently for everything else nothing shocks her. They credited my Accord account with 2000 points or €40.
For information, we paid €860 for 3 nights!

Strangely, I never received the satisfaction questionnaire that I usually receive after each stay in an Accor hotel.

I'm used to the Accor group but this will be the last time, run away!
There are plenty of other hotels in London with much better quality/price.

My family and I stayed at Novotel London Paddington Hotel on 26 Nov and the service from Novotel was good. We were impressed with their services. They attended to my queries immediately. It was also convenient to paddington station and lots of restaurants choices to choose. You can also find affordable convience store nearby. The staff was very helpful also. They even fixed the shower bath when we shared that it was flooding. They rectified the issue immediately. Hence we decided to stay there the next time we visit London. However, the 25 pound plush toy ( coggi) we bought on 28 Nov from Windsor castle for my daughter was disappeared from our room. We gave feedback to the hotel. Hence the receptionist shared that it might be placed together with the towels and the housekeeper might put them in the laundry bag. They would check for me.
Due to this issue, I had to be vigilant with my items. I now store my belongings in my suitcase or arrange them properly before leaving the room. Prior to this, it took me 45 minutes to check throughly the whoIe room before going to the receptionist to inform them about this issue. I trust this hotel and would never expect this will happened to us. I was shocked and unhappy because this never happened at other hotels from other countries where we stayed, and they even put the plush toy on the bed after housekeeping. Their reason was the plush toy might be together with the towels and currently it had sent to the laundry shop. They also mentioned that the housekeeper did not see our item.
Too be honest, the item was not small.
They even promised to 5000 points into my credit and will deliver the coggi back to my residence if they find it from the laundry shop. I appreciate that. Till now they have not responded to me. I checked out on 1st Dec. We left with a heavy heart and shared that we might not consider going there again.
If you are travelling with children and plan to stay at this hotel due to conviency, do place your stuff especially plush toys in proper places before heading out. REM to also inform them that you would not Want your room to face in front of the train station as it can be noisy early in the morning. If not, consider other Novotel hotels. Btw, we only had the 25 pound coggi ( sounvenar and we know that the late queen loves coggi, hence we bought it ) for a day. We brought for our daughter. 🙁 now is gone forever, sad 😞

Use the Hammersmith and City exit. Once out of the station, bear left and follow the signs towards Sheldon Square and Kingdom Street. Follow the waterline until you reach Starbucks, at which point turn left. On the far side of Sheldon Square you will see Kingdom Street with the Novotel at the end (signage visible from this point). It's only about 5 minutes' walk after you leave the station.
