Even tho is such a great location ( District/Circle and Central Line are 5 min away, choice of restaurants nearby) the place didn't feel too welcoming. The staff didn't feel like they wanted to be there and when I asked for some info the person didn't even bother to take a second to think... The room... I'm a short person...

The place appears to be a bit eccentric at first, but when you submerge into the premises you will definitely puzzle it out. The walls in the hallways are sketched with abstract depictions, which creates the overall atmosphere of the hostel. The rooms are well-organized, but don't expect opulence. However, the people you encounter there makes the place that special.

1. Difficult to find the entrance 2. Everything was filthy, untidy 3. It was very very cold and our radiator didn't work 4. Spiders in the kitchen 5. Flood in the toilet 6. Mould on the walls 7. Sheeds and duvets weren't changed for incoming guests 8. You need to pay for the luggage store (1.50 per day)

I've been 'hostel hopping' for some time and it hasn't been easy to find a homely, cheap, friendly hostel as there used to be many in London. Central Hostel retains that character which seems to be disappearing: the staff are nice and friendly, the walls are all painted with beautiful graffiti, some relating to London, some keeping alive that alternative...

First of all the good: The hostel is in a great location. Five minutes on foot from both the District and Central line, two supermarkets and several restaurants and pubs. Add that to the very good prize and the fact that there is actually a kitchen, so it's perfect for anyone on a budget. Some minor negative points: There aren't...

I have traveled a fair bit and this hostel is by far the worst I have ever stayed in. The staff are beyond rude, not helpful and seem like they don't want to be there. The rooms and bathrooms are dirty, my whole room of people got sick. When I gave the staff 24 hours notice of leaving 1 night...

The location is great. A couple of blocks away from the Kensington Gardens, Notting Hill and 30 minutes walking away from Buckingham Palace. Close subway stations and lots of restaurants, super markets and bars. Rooms were not as good as would expect. They need some maintenance. There is one single guy cleaning the entire place and if you do something...

Cheap stay close to Bayswater with cosy dorms with en-suite basin and shower. Many things would need upgrade and maintenance though, from door locks to common bathrooms. Breakfast's not served but refreshment are available for purchase. Also only cash payments are accepted, even for the room.

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
