The bed was really comfy and the extra pillows were brilliant, the en suite is small but that was ok for us, everything you need, shower, sink toilet and extra towels, we put the small towel on the floor when we had a shower, there is dispensers in the shower and near the sink but my daughter is autistic so we brought our own.
Didn't pay extra for food as my daughter has particular sensory to food, I did order a pizza from the bar and took it to our room it was lovely, there is also a tesco express 5 minutes away from hotel, (head towards the steps, stay on the right side and keep going until you see it, open 7 am to 11 pm I think).
The hotel is in a central location which was great for sight seeing and brilliant being near tube station if you don't want to walk, the checking out was easy too, the staff were really friendly and professional, the same lady checked us out and I wish we got her name, she is a lovely girl with a nice smile.
I would definitely go back to this hotel, thank you Travelodge for giving us a fantastic first time stay in Central London.
Let's start...
Given that in London everything costs and costs too much... if you don't want to end up in a hostel, with the associated risks, nor do you want to go to a hotel where you are literally "bald", the choice of Travelodges is recommended, as " luxury hostel"!
Having said this, positive sides: in addition to the absolutely affordable cost, the location is exceptional and in just a few minutes it has two metro stations within walking distance and in 10-20 minutes you can get anywhere (absolutely recommendable if you don't want to travel kilometers on foot !!); another positive thing was that we didn't have breakfast included, so at the bar we asked for a simple cappuccino with croissants, and the manager still let us sit in the breakfast room, without problems (obviously we didn't take advantage of it!); comfortable room, welcome and useful and functional desk, but above all, very good at confirming an extra night for us, due to the cancellation of the return plane! Pay attention to the pearl: exactly in front of the Hotel there are 3 restaurants of various calibers (Japanese, Indian, Spanish) and next door an Indian "trattoria" at absolutely recommendable prices and we took advantage of it with great satisfaction for 3 evenings in a row, a little 'here a little there!!
Negative sides: no one makes up your room, nor minimal cleaning; the windows are very dirty (you can hardly see outside) and sealed (they can't be opened!) so we asked them to clean them but to no avail! The bathroom was without soap (requested soap did not arrive!), the toilet lid was broken! Oh well, our stay was good all the same, but tolerating the negative sides!!!

2. The room wasn't cleaned for the 3 days that I stayed (I was informed that their policy is to only clean the rooms for people who stay for 7 or more days
3. Mugs were not taken or replaced, so each night I had to collect them from reception. I left 6 dirty mugs behind when I checked out
4. As part of the 'no cleaning' policy, my bed was not made (even if the bedsheets weren't replaced), so I had to tolerate a 'dirty' room throughout my stay
5. The choice of the 'meal deal' that is purchased at the time of booking the room was limited to pizzas, burgers or the option to pay extra for any of the other products in the main menu. I would have preferred to be able to choose anything on the menu up to the value of ÂŁ14.75 per night (most likely, a starter, a side and a drink). Oh yes, the drinks were an additional cost to the meal! I wasn't after a bargain, just a decent meal that I would actually eat and not throw up afterwards! I could not finish my pizza and barely touched the dessert that I had to choose the first night as I literally felt sick after pushing down half a pizza
6. The choice of breakfast wasn't too great either. Only one flavour of juice and no cheeses. Under-cooked tomatoes and floppy hash browns. One toast, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and a glass of orange apple juice would not have cost me ÂŁ11.50 at any other establishment
7. On a plus side, the staff were all courteous and professional but their hands were 'tied' due to company policy
The staff was kind because they changed rooms but the problem for us came back and we decided not to ask for further moves.
Please note that towels are changed only on request: do not forget to affix the tag to the door.
The location was very convenient both to walk to several attractions and to get around by tube (Aldgate and Aldgate east are just over 200 m each while the Tower gateway stop of the DLR x Greenwich is about 500 m).
For breakfast you can choose from scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, potato pancakes, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, bread, butter, jams, honey, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. as well as hot and cold drinks.
It is identical every morning and is not of great quality.
Also to improve the cleanliness.
Upon entering the room if felt really small and slightly outdated. Upon inspecting the room we noticed quite a few stains on the floor and chair. Some food items were left on the floor and one of the cups actually had water in it and clearly wasn’t cleaned from the previous guests. The toilet was small and the shower had hairs in it.
We booked this hotel for location and the air con and was slightly cheaper than Liverpool Street but unless it’s summer I’d suggest going with Liverpool Street one as it’s on the central line. And won’t have to do as much walking if you don’t want to.
Also having to ask for a hairdryer seems very outdated and should be a standard in any room.
Staff were excellent and quickly got anything we needed. Held our bags for the day we checked out and even tho the light didn’t work in the storage room got our luggage out with minimal fuss.
Staff 5/5

Cleanliness 2/5

The member of staff at reception happily gave my friend and I rooms next to each other with no fuss. The staff at breakfast were all really friendly and helpful.
Usual Travelodge downsides - only paid wifi, which is poor when you consider you get free wifi in so many places now, havent stayed in another chain that doesnt give it. Poor storage in room. No hairdryer.
Theyre great for short stays though, for the price, especially in London, I think these few downsdes can be ignored.
