The Travelodge London City Hotel receives mixed reviews on noise levels, with disturbances from AC units and refurbishment works cited by some, while others have had a tranquil experience. The central location is a highlight, celebrated for its convenience to public transport and attractions. Many guests commend the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, though there are occasional mentions of their compact size and maintenance issues. The hotel's service and amenities generally impress, but service inconsistencies and additional charges are noted. Despite these concerns, the hotel is recognized for providing good value and a welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel was very modern, easy to access via customer key cards. Staff were very friendly and helpful. As it was very cold in London during my visit, I asked for an extra blanket, and it was in my room on return from being out for dinner. The location is ideal, it's a less than 10 minute walk from the tower of London, and a 5 minute walk from Aldgate tube station, making it ideal for anyone traveling from Stanstead airport, via the express train to Liverpool street station, as Aldgate is one stop away from there. The rooms are clean, complementary tea and kettle in the rooms, clean towels and plenty of plugs and USB ports for charging phones and headphones etc. Bedside light switches that control all the rooms lights, which was perfect after a long day of exploring London. Bar and cafe is lovely, comfy seats and great drinks. The food isn't the best, we ordered some waffle fries and they came out severely over done. Breakfast was brilliant value for money, the buffet variety was fantastic. Tea coffee, fruit juice. Hot breakfast items, cereal, toast, pastries, pancakes, yogurts etc. Fantastic hotel overall and we will certainly return again for our next London visit.

We have stayed at this hotel a few times now, its clean and modern and in a great location with 2 tube stations less than 5 mins away, you can walk to london bridge within 15 mins, i would of gave this 5 stars but the 1 staff member on reception let it down she was so miserable towards us no smile and was like she was doing us a favour! And also when we got to the room we discovered the heating wasn’t working so we went to ask reception and they basically said the whole heating system is down and would bring up a heater which was fine kept us very warm! But come on it was bitter cold feb u should of notified us when checking in!

Stayed here for 3 nights, daughter, we're going to our first Comic Con, it is a lovely hotel, easy to find just off Aldgate tube station, booking in was really easy, the lady on the reception, (can't remember her name sorry), was lovely, she give us an option for first floor or further top, my daughter said further top, the lady explained everything and our room was on the 4th floor, we went for a standard room, it was petite but also clean and very airy, queen-side bed, a desk with kettle and cups, coffee, sugar and tea, I bought my own 3 in 1 caramel coffee, (sorry), there is a small cupboard to hang items and the air con works, I like that the windows are frosted so no one can see in, we were at the back of hotel which was better, no noise from outside.

The bed was really comfy and the extra pillows were brilliant, the en suite is small but that was ok for us, everything you need, shower, sink toilet and extra towels, we put the small towel on the floor when we had a shower, there is dispensers in the shower and near the sink but my daughter is autistic so we brought our own.

Didn't pay extra for food as my daughter has particular sensory to food, I did order a pizza from the bar and took it to our room it was lovely, there is also a tesco express 5 minutes away from hotel, (head towards the steps, stay on the right side and keep going until you see it, open 7 am to 11 pm I think).

The hotel is in a central location which was great for sight seeing and brilliant being near tube station if you don't want to walk, the checking out was easy too, the staff were really friendly and professional, the same lady checked us out and I wish we got her name, she is a lovely girl with a nice smile.

I would definitely go back to this hotel, thank you Travelodge for giving us a fantastic first time stay in Central London.

It's difficult to cast a vote, because for some things it would be 0, for others 5.
Let's start...
Given that in London everything costs and costs too much... if you don't want to end up in a hostel, with the associated risks, nor do you want to go to a hotel where you are literally "bald", the choice of Travelodges is recommended, as " luxury hostel"!
Having said this, positive sides: in addition to the absolutely affordable cost, the location is exceptional and in just a few minutes it has two metro stations within walking distance and in 10-20 minutes you can get anywhere (absolutely recommendable if you don't want to travel kilometers on foot !!); another positive thing was that we didn't have breakfast included, so at the bar we asked for a simple cappuccino with croissants, and the manager still let us sit in the breakfast room, without problems (obviously we didn't take advantage of it!); comfortable room, welcome and useful and functional desk, but above all, very good at confirming an extra night for us, due to the cancellation of the return plane! Pay attention to the pearl: exactly in front of the Hotel there are 3 restaurants of various calibers (Japanese, Indian, Spanish) and next door an Indian "trattoria" at absolutely recommendable prices and we took advantage of it with great satisfaction for 3 evenings in a row, a little 'here a little there!!
Negative sides: no one makes up your room, nor minimal cleaning; the windows are very dirty (you can hardly see outside) and sealed (they can't be opened!) so we asked them to clean them but to no avail! The bathroom was without soap (requested soap did not arrive!), the toilet lid was broken! Oh well, our stay was good all the same, but tolerating the negative sides!!!

1. The heating/air conditioning was not working but this wasn't mentioned at check-in. I was provided with a heater when I came down and requested this from reception
2. The room wasn't cleaned for the 3 days that I stayed (I was informed that their policy is to only clean the rooms for people who stay for 7 or more days
3. Mugs were not taken or replaced, so each night I had to collect them from reception. I left 6 dirty mugs behind when I checked out
4. As part of the 'no cleaning' policy, my bed was not made (even if the bedsheets weren't replaced), so I had to tolerate a 'dirty' room throughout my stay
5. The choice of the 'meal deal' that is purchased at the time of booking the room was limited to pizzas, burgers or the option to pay extra for any of the other products in the main menu. I would have preferred to be able to choose anything on the menu up to the value of ÂŁ14.75 per night (most likely, a starter, a side and a drink). Oh yes, the drinks were an additional cost to the meal! I wasn't after a bargain, just a decent meal that I would actually eat and not throw up afterwards! I could not finish my pizza and barely touched the dessert that I had to choose the first night as I literally felt sick after pushing down half a pizza
6. The choice of breakfast wasn't too great either. Only one flavour of juice and no cheeses. Under-cooked tomatoes and floppy hash browns. One toast, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and a glass of orange apple juice would not have cost me ÂŁ11.50 at any other establishment
7. On a plus side, the staff were all courteous and professional but their hands were 'tied' due to company policy

Unfortunately our stay was not satisfactory: for us the bed was uncomfortable due to the presence of protruding springs in the mattress. We are very sensitive to this and could not rest as we thought. We expected more comfort having booked a superoom.
The staff was kind because they changed rooms but the problem for us came back and we decided not to ask for further moves.
Please note that towels are changed only on request: do not forget to affix the tag to the door.

The location was very convenient both to walk to several attractions and to get around by tube (Aldgate and Aldgate east are just over 200 m each while the Tower gateway stop of the DLR x Greenwich is about 500 m).

For breakfast you can choose from scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, potato pancakes, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, bread, butter, jams, honey, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. as well as hot and cold drinks.
It is identical every morning and is not of great quality.
Also to improve the cleanliness.

A 10 min walk from Liverpool Street upon arrival we were checked in quickly and easily by the staff who let us in 20 mins early to our early check in of 12.
Upon entering the room if felt really small and slightly outdated. Upon inspecting the room we noticed quite a few stains on the floor and chair. Some food items were left on the floor and one of the cups actually had water in it and clearly wasn’t cleaned from the previous guests. The toilet was small and the shower had hairs in it.
We booked this hotel for location and the air con and was slightly cheaper than Liverpool Street but unless it’s summer I’d suggest going with Liverpool Street one as it’s on the central line. And won’t have to do as much walking if you don’t want to.
Also having to ask for a hairdryer seems very outdated and should be a standard in any room.
Staff were excellent and quickly got anything we needed. Held our bags for the day we checked out and even tho the light didn’t work in the storage room got our luggage out with minimal fuss.

The hotel presents misleading photos from the site , the rooms are absolutely not as they show you to make you book. They are small to 'unbelievable, bathroom for no more than one person at most even in the quadruples, windows blocked without being able to pass some' air, dirty carpet in every place, rooms and corridors. But the most absurd thing that had never happened to me is having to ask for toilet paper, towel change or room cleaning and despite requests made on 5 days of stay every day, only after a quarrel occurred with the manager we got within hours of leaving that we were given everything. True that the prices are more favorable but I find it imperative to specify that you pay only for a bed and breakfast but you will not have any type of service usually provided, I do not even have toilet paper! I would have preferred to know and not get nervous on holiday with the staff who always say yes with a smile but then does not respect any request to clearly tease you. Breakfast with poor quality products and very basic. For a maximum night two may be acceptable, plus I would not recommend it at all.

due to a change of plans i had to book a hotel short notice, travelodge was my choice and if im honest main reason for this was the price of the room; i didnt expect such a good experience for this relatively low price. i stayed for one night and it was just very nice, there were no complications with booking and checking in at the same day which is the case at some hotels. staff was always friendly and ready to help. the rooms were very clean and well aired which of course is pleasant because you dont want to worry about a smelly hotel room after travelling all day, there was a snack alongside tea, coffee, hot chocolate provided to be made fresh with a waterboiler waiting in the room for when you enter. other then that the room is equipped with a hairdryer, steaming iron and coffee machine. the ambient of the room was really relaxing, which ia good if you got work to do, or just want to have a little break from going out or shopping. when i visit london again i will definetly stay here again, its very budget and tourist friendly, with restaraunts and transport being basically around the corner

Great location, close to Liverpool St Station and Aldgate. Presumably quite a new hotel, with usb charging ports near the bed, well thought out lighting, rooms that were still looking fresh, and a bright bar/cafe area. Very little noise from outside, considering its central location, although it is set back from the main road, which helps. But the soundproofing in general must be good as I also couldnt hear the other people staying in the hotel.

The member of staff at reception happily gave my friend and I rooms next to each other with no fuss. The staff at breakfast were all really friendly and helpful.

Usual Travelodge downsides - only paid wifi, which is poor when you consider you get free wifi in so many places now, havent stayed in another chain that doesnt give it. Poor storage in room. No hairdryer.

Theyre great for short stays though, for the price, especially in London, I think these few downsdes can be ignored.
