Located next to Aldgate east tube station this well appointed hotel was an easy walk to Tower Bridge and Tower of Londin with easy tube access to the rest of the city.

Our room was very well equiped with everything we needed for a weekend away and a buffet breakfast was available at a sensible price. The hotel has it's own Restaurant and Bar and all of the staff were extremely helpful.

The Clayton Hotel (City) is situated in Aldgate East, a stones throw from the underground and walking distance to Spitalfields Market (worth a visit), Brick Lane, Tower of London, St Katherines Dock etc.
The hotel itself is very clean and modern, staff are friendly and very helpful. We had one query regarding the rate of our room, however the Manager resolved the matter in no time and to our satisfaction, thank you!
Our room was on the 10th floor, one of the junior suites which is made up of three rooms, a living area, bedroom and a bathroom with a double walk-in rain shower. It was spotlessly clean, there was no noise (occasional emergency vehicle which is expected when staying in a City) and the view across London at night is magnificent.
The breakfast choice is vast, cooked breakfast, fruit, pastries, breads, cereals and the service again was very good.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely, clean, luxurious hotel located near the Tower Bridge end of the city. We usually stay right in the city centre but it made a lovely change to be out of the hustle and bustle of the city and to try a different area of the city that we never normally venture.

The Aldgate East underground station is a mere minutes walk from the hotel where you can be in the city centre in 10-15 minutes.

Check in was fantastic where everything was clearly explained, the staff were polite and friendly. The hotel went out of their way to ensure the guests safety during these times of Covid. There were visual signs that everything was being adhered to; seals over unopened doors, all staff wearing visors and there was no daily ‘refresh’ of the rooms due to staff/guests safety but replacement towels, toiletries, refreshments, toilet rolls etc were in plentiful supply on trollies outside of the elevator doors.

The rooms were fabulous, comfortable, very clean, quiet and relaxing. We would definitely stay again.

Credit to all of the staff who were great during these difficult times, especially Gloria who ensured our time in the very quiet bar was enjoyable and served us our drinks with a friendly smile and polite conversation.

Thank you to ALL of the staff at Clayton Hotel for enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

They do not clean your room, nor do they make your bed. Basically you do not get even the basic room service that you can get in a 2 star hotel, while paying for a 4 star hotel. They say it's because of COVID, but my impression is that they try to hide a legitimate but questionable business choice (cutting on cleaning staff) behind COVID-19. I would choose other hotels, which continue offering room service (if you use face masks and other PPE, cleaning rooms is safe).
If you ask the reception, they say they’d do the cleaning on your second day of stay, but in my case - in spite of my explicit request - it has not happened, therefore when I left my room was dirty and messy, full of rubbish and dirty towels (we stayed two people for two nights, so we used at least six towels).
Steer away from it!

Dear Solf1234, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Please accept my apologies regarding the servicing of your room, many things have had to change over the past few months to allow us to operate as safely as possible. We try not to enter our guest rooms after check in for both employee and guest safety, all bedrooms are santised and sealed prior to guests arriving. We only enter rooms to clean them upon request and we ask that all personal belongings are packed away to allow us to sanitise the room again. It seems that on this occasion we unfortunately missed your request, please accept my apologies once again. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back. Kind regards James

This hotel is perfectly situated, with tube stations all within easy walking distances, many landmarks and restaurants also all within easy reach.
The hotel itself is unassuming between two tower block apartments.
The area is a bit rundown (Adds to the atmosphere of Whitechapel)
The hotel is welcoming and reception staff helpful, we had been upgraded which was lovely although our window was opposite one of the apartments, so our view were of a lovely couple who enjoyed the more naked ways of life and a lovely smashed egg all down the window ( probably the neighbours annoyed with hotel guests looking into their homes!)
As with normal hotel prices the bar is Pretty expensive, we didn’t try evening meals but breakfast is now a table service with the usual buffet choices, admittedly the service was slow but we were not in a rush (luckily) we were not too keen on the breakfast but as it was included you can’t complain.
But as myself and son had worked all through the past few months we were very happy to be able to have a break and destress.
I think all in all it was good value for money though

We booked the hotel for a short break in London, the location was perfect for exploring Shoreditch and Spitalfields. The room was immaculate, lovely and modern with everything we needed. We visited after lockdown and there were lots of precautions in place to make us feel safe. The staff were friendly and helpful, no noise from the street or other visitors and check in/out was seamless. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends and family!

We are home from the most wonderful stay at The Clayton Hotel. We arrived early, so were able to store our bags at reception so we could go and explore, upon our return when collecting our room key, we were upgraded to a suite, it was gorgeous, with a roll top free standing bath, huge comfortable bed and a dressing table with socket beneath - sometimes I find hotels forget to put a socket next to the dressing table, no good for hair styling! Everyone was so welcoming, polite and accommodating. We didn’t eat at the hotel, however had we’d stayed longer we certainly would’ve done. The room was spotless, with a good aircon system, and flat screen TV which you’re able to easily link to your phone and stream programs/movies. I whole heartedly recommend this hotel, and wouldn’t hesitate to re-book on our return to London. Thank you for making our time in London so special.

Stayed in this hotel for a special occasion and what a gem! The staff were very pleasant from  start to finish. Absolutely loved the room, immaculate, modern and very tastefully decorated with all the facilities and amenities that we could possibly need. We stayed in one of the Suites which was very spacious with quality was top noch, divided into 3 different sections, bathroom with double showers, sinks, bathtub, bathrobes, slippers and luxury toiletries, living room with a nespresso machine (great for coffee lovers!) and in our case we also got a welcome card with drinks and chocolates which certainly made our stay even more special (thank you!) and last but not least the bedroom with a super comfy king bed and 2 different walking wardrobes!
Breakfast was yummy, good selection and quality ingredients.
Location is also amazing as Algate East underground is just outside the hotel and only 10 minutes walk you can visit Spitalfields Market or some of London's most iconic landmarks- Tower Bridge and The Tower of London
Great for business too as I've noticed many corporate buildings in the surroundings.
All in all a must visit, I'll definitely be back (hopefully) soon! Thank you for making our stay so wonderful!

From initially booking the hotel online, the quality of service is high.
all our enqueries were promptly responded to and very informative.

the room key fob is also used for the lifts - select your floor and tap your card. this for health and safety purposes (in case of an emergency) the whereabouts of the guests and areas that can/cannot be accessed.

Our room was the deluxe range. very spacious, good decor, furnished well and very clean.
The bed was very comfortable and roomy. A really good nights sleep.
What was very useful was an iron/ironing board and an array of different teas.

The bathroom had a walk in shower. only thing required is somewhere to hang a bathrobe; hair conditioner (something that is usually the norm) and option of soap.

Breakfast is between 8-10. There is a varied selection of breakfast foods/drinks. I noted that a waiter brought an omelette to one of the guests. it would have been nice if we knew we too could have this option. so staff please let people know.
The evening meal was really very good. several choices throughout the menu with an option of a small surcharge to order from the a'la carte menu.

in the evenings the top floor ''reading room'' is huge and a great chill out area at the end of the day.

We would highly recommend this hotel. A very high standard of customer care was given throughout our stay.

Cambridge station is a mere five minutes walk to the hotel. within this area is a Greggs, Sainsbury's, Pret, restaurants and bar. Rent a cycle etc. Great location.

Arrived early at the hotel around 1pm we checked to see if Room was ready but it wasn’t not a problem as we was early they offered to take our luggage which was great and asked to come back in around an hour. Myself and my partner returned around a hour and 15 mins later to again find the room was still not ready as the hotel had recently switched to 2pm check in instead of 3 and wasn’t coping with the quick cleaning turnaround. They offered a free drink at the bar which was great. However the free drink was limited to a bottle beer or house wine when my partner asked for a splash of lemonade in the wine the bartender explained that would have to charge for the lemonade which I thought was a bit stingy seeing as the room not being ready was there mistake. We finished our drinks and returned to the check in desk where we were served by a different member of staff who at first couldn’t find our check in and had to ask the previous member of staff who was dealing with the check in. She also didn’t tell us Check out times or point us in the direction of our room. I will say the lobby was packed with guests and it was loud and the staff were busy checking everyone in and dealing with guest so I understand it was a bit rushed and impersonal. The actual room was very clean and had a nice quirky feel. Bathroom and shower great spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. There was a broken dimmer switch in the bathroom but minor gripe. As for the area the hotel is located I found this a massive negative whilst the transport links were great it’s well out of the way of any tourist locations we came to visit and nightlife. Seemed to be a massive drinking area for groups of lads and quite rough didn’t enjoy the atmosphere of the area at all.
