We had four rooms at the Athenaeum on a recent trip. This is a reasonable hotel, but far from a five star luxury hotel. We have stayed at a number of five star hotels in London and elsewhere and this is at best a 3.5 star hotel. Rooms are somewhat small with an odd taste in decorating. The hotel appears...

I spent 1 night at this hotel and it was so poor. Firstly as stated before by others there is no reception and the staff huddle in what is almost a cupboard popping out to check guest in, in a crowded open area. I was then sent not shown to my room, that despite booking to stay in the hotel...

This hotel is like a 4 star at best. Great location of course, but it doesn't even have a proper reception. Rooms are tired and dated, gym is very limited. So this hotel only works if you appreciate the location and you are getting a very good rate...

On arrival to the hotel with my friend for a birthday spa day, I was quite amazed with the hotels decor and layout. Also Staff being very friendly and helpful in directing us to the spa. After arriving in the spa, we was checked in and then went onto get ready in the spa changing room. After changing into our...

Have stayed here before ages ago and they have since had a refyrb. Very high stadard and a luxury feel to the place. The room was spotless and a generous size. They have the best doorman around called Jim who is a great guy. The new bar was really smart but lacked a little atmosphere. All good and they do...

I recently stayed at the Athenaeum for the second time with my family of six. We stayed in the residences both trips and my 4 boys LOVE the extra attention given by the staff. As we rushed out to leave, I accidentally left my MacBook computer in the room and didn't realize it until we hit the security at the...

We had a room in ‘the Residences’ – so it’s not just apartments in this annex to the main hotel. We made the booking through one the discount clubs where sometimes you end up with the rooms that the hotel struggles to sell. Actually the room itself was perfectly OK. It was ground floor and looked out on to a...

Absolutely beautiful hotel, across from Green Park, great Mayfair location. Spa, restaurant, nice lounge areas. Michelin-star chefs. You will leave refreshed and ready to explore London. Convenient location, 5-minute walk to Green Park tube station, 7-minutes from Hyde Park Corner.

We, three couples, descended on the Athenaeum this weekend just gone to celebrate a friend's 40th. We let the hotel know and very thoughtfully, the birthday boy and partner were upgraded to a breathtakingly beautiful room on the 10th floor, with views out over Green Park and the London skyline. Us remaining couples had rooms on the 9th floor facing...

The welcome from Fabiano, Dean and Maria made me feel like an old friend. Very friendly conversation on arrival and seemless check-in was the perfect start to a fantastic a night in London. The hotel is ideally placed for entertainment and shopping in the West End and Knightsbridge, both of which are within walking distance.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
