We stayed at the Rookery for three nights and hated to leave. Our room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Had the best sleep here in a very luxurious bed. The location of the hotel near the Farringdon tube and railway station worked very well for us. We found the staff to be very helpful. The hotel was a charming...

What a treasure! Hidden in a little alley by Smithfield Market, this hotel has the feel of an English Gentleman's Club. The staff are very attentive, the rooms are tastefully decorated and the facilities are comfortable. The location was super - great restaurants within a block and a 20 minute walk from the Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre on...

Recommend you take time to read about the rooms and then try and get the one you want...we were in the William Blizzard room, a good size and very comfortable, very clean and had all the amenities (but no plug socket for the hairdryer near a mirror....even in chain hotels this is sometimes lacking.) The stay was short, only one...

Amazingly laid out romantic hotel in a quiet corner of Smithfield, with discreet special service and unusual, comfortable rooms. A good night's sleep and perfectly located for local restaurants and other attractions. Close to Farringdon Tube. Pleasing to see an explanation of the history of the building.

We, and many of the wedding party stayed at the Rookery last Friday and Saturday evening. Our daughter (the bride) and her now husband were upgraded from a suite to the Rookery. The Hotel is brilliant, rooms fantastic and the staff excellent. If you are looking for modern this isn't the place, but it has free WiFi and a lovely...

We have had the good fortune to stay here on a number of occasions and each time the staff have been excellent in their support no matter what we required. It is an oasis in the thriving city but of course it does have its weaknesses if you are looking for a modern chain hotel! The rooms are different and...

I stayed in the Rookery for a night but couldn't really take to it. The hotel's charmingly old fashioned, but the room was awkwardly small, there were noises that sounded like there were animals in the walls, and the bathroom didn't have a proper way to shower – and neither having the time not patience for a bath, I half-stood,...

Second time visiting The Rookery in a month. Three nights in total. Really nice boutique hotell with historic Victorian/Harry Potter-ish atmosphere. Friendly, welcoming and helpfull Staff. All rooms are different with its own unique charm. Visit the "honesty bar" for a drink in relaxed atmosphere. Short walk to the Farringdon rail- and subway station. The area has plentyfull of restaurants,...

Stayed here for the first two days of a three week vacation. We had a beautiful room (the Blizard) with a statue in the bathroom. Our queen size bed was extremely comfortable, and we needed smaller one for the kid, which he called one of the most comfortable ever. Underground, Paul Bakery, and a nice pub were all close by,...

Booked in by the office at the end of a long trip it was a fantastic break from the run of the mill hotels. Tucked away but loads of great restaurants around (I walked across to the Hix Chop Bar where you get a free glass of champagne if you stay in the hotel .... which was nice); the room...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
