I totally agree with Peta T. From the time I called on the phone while travelling across the English Channel on the day requiring a room, to the departure of the hotel the following day, the staff at this hotel could not do enough and should be totally commended on their customer service and warm and friendly manner. As I...

I spent one night here at the end of April 2012 on a weekend trip to London. The online booking process was fast and uncomplicated. A telephone enquiry regarding dropping off luggage before check- in time was answered a friendly and competent manner. The location is ideal; on arrival and departure I chose the slightly longer walk (5 minutes) to...

My husband & I stayed at Base2Stay for 5 nights and our first time in London. This hotel is fantastic, the staff are always friendly, happy & only too pleased to help. Location is great minutes walk to station, Pubs & Restaurants but in a quiet street very safe area. After a busy day sightseeing we got off the train...

I stayed here for six days and was very happy to be staying at this hotel. Pros: Located in beautiful neighborhood; clean; great staff, helpful, professional, friendly Cons: Small rooms; rooms facing street are noisy (I asked to switched to a room in the back, which was quiet, though it had a view of a wall). All in all, I...

Dear dctraveler15, thank you very much for leaving a review on Tripadvisor. The hotel prides itself on its great customer care and service and I am glad you got to experience this during your stay with us. The hotel has been converted from 5 Victorian houses and this adds to the uniqueness of the building with its original stone staircases...

I've been to base2stay Kesington for 5 nights. It is, with no doubt, the most smart, confortable and amazing room I've ever been into. Simple, yet modern - the tv gives you access to the internet, to a library of music and videos on demand. Clean deco, yet functional - it has a fridge and, a sink and a microwave...

We were quite impressed with the Base2Stay concept of providing an efficiency accommodation with style. Here are our observations after a five night stay: Our basic room was located on the lower level of the hotel. It was clean, quiet and exactly as pictured on the website. The room (L12) is small with just large enough for a couple but...

Dear NWBallardTraveler, Thank you for your review and comments. Room L12 overlooks the private rear mews - these mews were originally stables for the large houses on the main frontage and are now highly sought after private houses as most have their own garages. We believe we have identified and rectified the water pressure problem, but welcome any feedback from...

The hotel lived up to all my expectations of a 4 star hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful at all times I dealt with them. The King double room made up with twin beds was clean and comfortable and had sufficient space for my cousin and I. I liked the kitchen facilities tucked away neatly in the...

We stayed at base2stay for 4 nights in May 2012. The room was exactly what we needed and nothing more. This hotel is perfectly named: it's base camp for your visit. The room was scrupulously clean and modern. The only complaint we had was that if you take a shower at peak time in the AM, the plumbing had a...

I stayed here with a large-ish group--7 rooms total--from 5/16-5/20. The rooms were small, as every room I've ever had in London has been, but clean and well-appointed. The bathrooms were great and the kitchens handy. We were a short stroll from the Tube, and there are a ton of shops and restaurants within close walking distance. I'd stay there...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
