The Cavendish London Hotel, often described as welcoming and elegant, provides a cozy atmosphere with tastefully designed rooms. While the service is generally commended for being friendly and efficient, some guests have experienced slow responses. Its central location is a highlight, though noise from the surrounding area can be a drawback for some. Despite the hotel's cleanliness and attentive housekeeping, opinions on value are mixed, with criticisms focusing on the pricey breakfast and the need for updates in room amenities and decor.

I have stayed here many times before but only when I can get a good discount such as I did again this time on Expedia as to be honest what the hotel normally charges is far too excessive for what one gets. The rate did not include breakfast (which was posted at 22 pounds but which we were told at check-in could be bought at 18 pounds) but as I had discovered before there are several great places around the corner where one can have a full english breakfast for less than 10 pounds and one is not restricted by the hotel's breakfast hours.
As usual the reception desk and the door staff are very nice and helpful. I received a superior double room that had a king size bed overlooking the rear of Fortnum and Mason. Space is very tight in it such as in the bathroom (operating the shower is always a challenge) and the closet. I'm always hard put in seeing how two people can manage to fit in one room. There were noise issues as the walls are paper thin between the rooms and I could hear my neighbours as if they were besides me in my room which is disconcerting. Also street noise could be heard very early in the morning in spite of the double glazed windows as Fortnum and Mason load in their merchandise a few feet away from the hotel. Unfortunately the windows do not open so fresh air is not an option. The location of the hotel cannot be beat especially if one is doing a theatre trip as I was, and most theatres are within walking distance.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing tripadvisor.com to write your review on our hotel. The hotel is indeed in a great location opposite the world famous Fortnum and Mason department store and located very conveniently on the corner of Jermyn and Duke Streets. We are also well located for access to Piccadilly Circus as well as Bond Street, Regent Street, Green Park, Leicester Square, Soho, Covent Garden and some of the best attractions, shopping and restaurants in London. Some of the main London attractions within walking distance include Buckingham Palace, The Royal Academy of Arts, The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, St James’s Palace, Horse Guards Parade, Churchill War Rooms (Imperial War Museum) and the Houses of Parliament (The Palace of Westminster). The Underground (Tube) stations of Green Park & Piccadilly are very close to the hotel and you can transfer for the Victoria, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines very easily at Green Park station. A Piccadilly line service from Heathrow Airport (Terminals 2 & 3) to Green Park Underground station takes a very easy 46 minutes. The hotel offers a wide range of room types including Classic rooms, Superior rooms, Executive rooms, Junior Suites and Penthouses. We would be delighted to show you the different room types on a future stay at our hotel. Discounted breakfast vouchers are available to purchase from the front desk (Reception) on check in / arrival at the hotel and our breakfast hours are 6.30am to 10.30am weekday and 7.00am to 11.00am on weekends. All bedroom windows open to allow fresh air. I also hope you had the opportunity to join our Cavendish newsletter where we offer great rates and exciting promotions. Chose the hotel based on location and price, having returned from a one night stay I can confirm it represents very good value for money. We have stayed in better appointed hotels, but paid three times the price. In current times, there are clearly restrictions on what can be provided and how the services are presented, however I think the hotel and its staff dealt with all the restrictions extremely well. We stayed on a top floor room which was good, comfy bed, smallish bathroom but exceptional southerly views and the emblematic London skyline.
What made the stay exceptional was the staff, from the room cleaners to concierge, staff at breakfast were all exceptional. Thank you. Particular shout out to Cristiana in reception, very efficient, genuinely nice and friendly. It makes such a difference to a stay. Big thank you.

A wonderful hotel, in an absolute gem of a location. The entire team were very helpful - we were also surprised to be acknowledged and wished a good day by all the staff we encountered making us feel welcome.

The rooms have a sense of mature decor and well preserved, very comfortable and tasteful.

We looked forward to breakfast every morning as unlike other hotels it was maintained warm and fresh despite us having breakfast as late as 10 am.

We do want to add, that the hotel felt very covid safe which was one of our main concerns when travelling to London.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I have stayed in the Cavendish Many times in the past for over 12 years now, I would say on this visit it wasn't up to its normal standard.

on arrival to the hotel we was met by a lovely lady who checked us in and was great from they, we arrived at our room on the 11 floor and I don't think anyone had been in the room since lockdown in December. The room did have a wired smell but put this down to the room not been used.

we noticed that the towels must of been left since dec and felt really dusty after getting out of the shower, maybe worth in Future to give them a freshen up before people arrive.

I must say on the Sunday for Breakfast was a complete nightmare got left for a good 20 minutes and then I had to go across and ask for menus I asked for toast and tea 3 times and still no one brought anything over at this point I lost the ploy. I went over for the buffet breakfast in the end as I had enough of waiting, and this wasn't very warm at all, I asked for a bowl of cereal and to get asked do I need milk well every normal person has milk with their cereal.

I did ask for sauce with the bacon for the breakfast to get a reply of you need to ask someone else for this, by this point I just gave up considering I had asked several different people 4 times by this point.

I don't think people in the restaurant was very happy with the lack of attention of them.

On the next day breakfast was a lot better and everything was a lot more organised so well done to the team for putting this right.

maybe worth doing a non buffet breakfast on a weekend and doing orders only this will cut down a lot of waste and also keep the food hot.

The other thing I would mention is the air con in the room, it was very warm in the London and tried to place the air con on 2 days on a row and on 16 in the room but it was just getting hotter and hotter to the point where we was melting on a night, we contacted reception and a lovely guy came up and said that something wasn't right. we got a call from the desk to say we have reset this for you I think for someone in the room who had been melting for the last couple of night we should of been able to do this our selfs , I think that it needed to be reset in the whole hotel cause it was very warm.

other than that everything was lovely and will be returning but this stay must of been a one off.

This hotel is in an excellent location in St James/ Piccadilly, walking distance to all the sights, theatre etc. I had previously stayed several years ago for work and thought it seemed good value for a last minute theatre break.

Whilst it does the basics reasonably well, I probably wouldn't stay again.

We paid extra for superior room. It was pretty small at 18m2, and was not worth the additional expense. It did have a comfortable queen bed and the bedding was high quality. We were provided with free bottled water and a Nespresso machine (with unbranded plastic capsules). I would describe it as an adequate place to sleep (noisy so I would ask for the highest floor you can). The bathroom had white company toiletries. It was small and had a fixed shower head (described by my partner as a "prison shower"). The water pressure was really poor and I've had better showers in a premier Inn, which I would say is a better option than this hotel.

Breakfast wasn't great. We were greeted warmly but that's where the good service stopped. The table wasn't set correctly with missing items. We weren't offered coffee. (It's easy and free when seating guests to say "someone will bring you coffee/can I get you anything?" or to explain where items are rather than wordlessly place down a cup and walk off). When it eventually arrived without an apology or explanation after we asked, it wasn't very good (just invest in a self serve coffee machine guys!). The hot items were ok apart from the egg, which was revolting... Something had gone wrong there. Pointing this out was greeted with a shrug. Pastries were stale and not replenished.

Lifts were out of service which meant a long wait for one that was free.

The whole place just feels as if, with a little more effort it could be a really good option but unfortunately there were too many little niggles that let it down. For that reason I'd either spend a little less for a budget option or a spend a little more for a luxury or branded option.

I can't fault the location though, and if you're staying on a room only basis and get a good deal it might be worth it if they can sort out the issues above (breakfast and shower).

Reception staff were very good and efficient and generally apart from at breakfast everyone was great. Just needs a bit of polishing for me to consider it in future.

We stayed here at the weekend and was totally disappointed on what we received. The room was very tiny and could hardly move round the bed for what we paid for this room I felt that we was so over charged. We had such a terrible view of a roof just what you want to look at when you open the curtains .The bed was so uncomfortable woke up with such a bad back and so did my partner. I ordered some food at night and when the gentleman came up we gave him a tip and he said that’s not enough at first I thought he was talking about the tip , but wanted me to pay straight away for the food instead of just putting it on my bill he was rather rude . Breakfast was probably the better part of the hotel and the door staff was very polite .

Nice hotel, didnt find beds very comfortable,
Rooms very quiet with windows shut, dont hear no exterior noise...rooms had Air con and black out curtains.
Be warmed of you want a lay in, housekeeper/cleaner
Ignores your do not disturb sign bangs the door any way, shouted sign on the door, she left, half hour later at 9.30am she's back banging again shouting housekeeping, to which I had to get up in the end pull door open looking quite angry saying can you not see or read the sign, just for her to say nothing and walk away.

Would stay again and if didnt want to be disturbed id make a point of letting reception know as well on check in.

My girlfriend and I only stayed here for one night, but were expecting good things considering how good the reviews are. We were considerably disappointed by what we experienced.

Firstly, during check in we were told by ‘Christina’ at reception that we had one of the biggest rooms on the floor, what a massive joke that was!! It’s quite possibly the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in, and the rooms are most definitely overdue an update. Be aware that the walls are paper thin and you can hear conversations in the room next door (on the 12th floor anyway), along with how old the windows are, you can hear everything going on outside which woke both me and my girlfriend up at 5am!

Secondly, cleanliness is not up to standard, particularly whilst we are still in a pandemic. The first thing I noticed when checking the room was the bathroom smelled of stale urine, and there were toothpaste marks left on the sink surround. When checking the rest of the room, you start to notice how dirty it really is, with finger marks and grime on most of the fixtures and fittings.

Thirdly, breakfast was also a disappointment. The breakfast is served as a buffet, but most of it was cold, and of lacklustre quality, with only scrambled eggs on offer and the hash browns being rock hard. You do get tea and coffee included, but any other type of coffee, e.g. a cappuccino, is billed extra, what an absolute joke!! Service is also poor, taking them forever to replace the empty buffet dishes etc.

All in all, very disappointed with this, considering how much they charge here for a standard room. You’re much better off in a holiday inn for the same price or pay a bit extra for something worthwhile.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Cavendish previously and enjoyed it immensely. We now wanted to celebrate my birthday in London, but frankly we were a bit concerned with the present Covid-19 situation. We remembered our time at the Cavendish and it’s central location, with on-site parking @ a nominal fee. It is within walking distance to many of our favorite places. From the moment we called reservations and spoke with Simona, I knew we had made the right choice. Ricky, at the Front Desk, warmly welcomed us and electronically checked our temperature. The hotel was completely Covid compliant. We both felt very safe. Richard, Head Concierge, was amiable and helpful with advice and directions. Everything was as we remembered it......comfortable, immaculate and serving a great breakfast,.....although now food is served to your table rather than a buffet. True, Covid made us cautious, but the Cavendish gave us the opportunity to enjoy one of our favorite cities.

Yes, we did have a small fridge in our room. I believe some rooms may not. I would request a room w/fridge. The hotel is very accommodating. Enjoy !

It would be 15-20 pounds. However if you don't have lots of luggage, take the Victoria tube line to Green Park station. Green Park is 2-3 blocks from the hotel. It would cost about 2.40 pounds per person.
