Only one night here to enjoy our slightly quirky room, with its massive bathroom down a small flight of stairs, big comfortable bed and old-fashioned sofa. It was amazingly quiet being at the back of the building, breakfast was copious and there was no problem leaving our luggage for collection later in the day. The hotel is ideally placed for...

It was a great stay! The staff were very helpful and we loved hanging out in the back garden for after dinner relaxation and morning breakfast. There is also breakfast in the basement as well. The pipes made some loud noises in the room but we figured out how to fix that pretty well and there was a light in...

Booked an afternoon tea here for 2 which was a very pleasant experience. They accommodated to a dietary requirement that we had and also rescheduled our booking at very short noticed after I got caught in a security alert on the underground which meant I missed my original slot. The lady I spoke to over the phone was very helpful....

Multinational five-star monolith this is not, but there must naturally be some payoff for character and charm. The Academy is well positioned for you to get anywhere in central London, by foot, or the excellent public transport connections (seven Underground stations within reasonable walking distance at a brisk pace) and is also close to the British Museum and its library...

The hotel is nice and classic. The staff is generally kind, except for the guy at the restaurant who warned me that I had 12 minutes left to have breakfast. Actually, it took me 10 min. My room was silent, since I was put at the back of the building. The size of the room was adequate, but there was...

We booked via LateRooms as had to be in London with the family for a night. The hotel is lovely. Yes there are things that could be better but the room was large and clean. The bed comfortable and the bathroom and shower excellent. The breakfast was also really good. We prefer quiet, small hotels to the bigger chains and...

My friend and I had a Groupon for afternoon tea with a bottle of Prosecco to share. When we arrived, there was a mistake with the reservation (made for the following day) but the receptionist solved the problem very quickly and with smile. I highly appreciated her professionalism. The afternoon tea was good and the waiter very discreet. The atmosphere/decor...

We have been coming to this hotel for years (10+) and find it is getting more run-down with worse service to the point that we are starting to look for other options. I booked afternoon tea at The Academy through a Groupon voucher. The service was good and the sandwiches, scones and cakes were lovely. We were the only customers in the restaurant which was quite small but very cosy. Would definitely revisit.

What a lovely find right in the heart of London! Literally 3 minutes walk from Oxford Street and all the sights. The staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered in a London Hotel. Yes, the age of the building can bee seen as a negative by some people, but in my opinion it only adds to the charm....
