The Strand Palace Hotel garners praise for its sparkling cleanliness and eco-conscious initiatives, including water refill stations. Although some guests find the rooms a tad snug, they are commended for their comfort and modernity. The central location is a highlight, placing visitors within easy reach of London's top attractions.
However, noise can sometimes intrude upon the calm ambiance. While opinions on value for money vary, the hotel's attentive service and inviting atmosphere are regularly celebrated.

I stayed in a single room on 3rd floor. It was compact but perfectly adequate, with a comfy single bed, good heat control, good lighting, good amenities, a table and chair. It had a surprisingly bright and spacious bathroom. The room faced the small side road and apart from the odd noisy Christmas reveller it was pretty quiet. It was also quiet within the hotel; I didn’t hear much going on around me at all. The hotel staff were very cheerful and helpful. Check in was quick and easy and we were able to leave our cases at the hotel both on the day we arrived and on our last day while we went out. The lobby and the restaurant are attractive and spacious. We had a very good breakfast one morning with lots to choose from. Didn’t go to the bar but it looked attractive. We opted to ‘go green’ and not have our rooms cleaned daily. As an incentive to do this the hotel offers a daily £7 pp voucher which you can use in bar or restaurant. We thought that was quite generous. There was a plastic free, reusable bottle of water and a bar of chocolate, attractively wrapped, in our room on arrival. I completed the Hotel’s feedback form once I got home and have already had a response from management acknowledging my comments. It was a really nice stay and we’ll definitely be going back, as soon as we can find someone to look after the dog.

I arrived just before 5pm, already late for a business event so I checked in and asked to leave my luggage in the luggage room, so I could race away. The doorman realised that I'd gotten lost on the way to the luggage room and was so helpful in proactively showing me the way; then he realised I had a room, and offered to take my bag up to my room for me so I didn't have to faff when I got back later that night. It was so appreciated.
When I got back later than evening, I arrived at the room to find it absolutely spotless. The man at check-in, Ravnak (sorry if I've spelt this incorrectly!) , gave me a complimentary upgrade to a twin room which was great and the room was well furnished. They provide 2 reusable water bottles and filling stations throughout the hotel, so you can always access fresh water whilst remaining green and there's an umbrella in the room you can use, as well as a safe, hangers, iron + board, and hairdryer (along with the usual tea facilities).
The room was spotless, including the bathroom. In fact, the shower was so clean I didn't realise a bath sheet had been folded up at the bottom for me to lay on the floor, and I absolutely soaked it (sorry, housekeeping..) but its a testament to just how pristine it was.
The bed was incredibly comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was lovely. It's served as a buffet style which is absolutely fine for when you're half awake in the morning like I am and the options are relentless for want of a better word.
Checkout was smooth, and about an hour later I realised I'd left my toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom. I called reception to see if they could locate them for me and I'd return at 1pm, they were brilliant. They called me back once they located them, and had them ready for me to pick up when I went back.
I haven't found a single thing from my experience that I would want to improve, and I felt very lucky to have been able to stay at this hotel for business. I'd come back for a personal trip too, as its excellently situated for a day around London.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Im just finishing a 5 night stay in this hotel. Here's my review:
Location: not surprisingly, it's located in the Strand, just opposite The Savoy. It's a great location. Nearest tube station is Embankment, so that's about a 6 to 10 minute walk away, up a slight incline. There are also a lot of bus routes that pass by the hotel. If you have heavy bags, you are going to want o use a Taxi or ride share, but otherwise it's well-served by public transport. Just along the road is Trafalgar Square, and you can then walk up to Leicester Square and along to Piccadilly Circus if you wish. It's right in the heart of theatre land of course, so a great base if you going to some shows.
Hotel: this is a well-appointed hotel. The lobby is capacious for London, the decor modern but elegant. There's a large restaurant and a gin bar right off the lobby area. Check-in was reasonable - like a lot of hotels, this always seems to take longer than you would imagine for something that should already have the details. Time for more hotels to copy the airlines and allow self check in I think. I was staying in a superior double. It's a decent room - nothing outstanding, but very clean, comfortable bed. Extras included a Nespresso machine. Others have already mentioned the 2 refillable water bottles that are welcome.
Staff: the staff are the stand-out feature of this hotel. Everyone I met was polite and friendly. Great concierge, door people, front desk.
Amenities: I didn't use the gym. I visited the restaurant twice, and wan't that impressed I'm afraid. The waiting staff are fairly inexperienced, and the food was below average for a hotel of this calibre. I might post a separate review of the restaurant, but I'd recommend you look elsewhere, with one caveat. If you decide you don't want your room cleaned and tidied any particular day, they will leave you a £7 voucher to spend in the restaurant instead. Up to 2 can be used at once - that just about makes a visit to the restaurant worthwhile. I obviously didn't try the while menu, and looking at other reviews I'm sure there's some good food to be had.
Summary: hotel is in a great location; staff are excellent and the room very good. I would definitely stay here again, but I will be giving the restaurant a miss next time.

Beautiful lobby and first floor of the hotel for sure. Even my bed was quite comfortable. But unempathetic staff who even felt righteous in his approach made me want to never come back.
I booked a single room and the photos for the single room on the booking platform I used showed a clear desk area that was part of why I chose to book this hotel over others.
Upon arrival, I discover that the photos were not an accurate portrayal of the room I got. That’s OK, I didn’t want to spend time discussing that.
However, the little table I got was quite a mismatch - the stool that came with the little table was way too high, such that you would be completely hunched over to do some work. If here for purely tourist reasons, it might not be a huge deal, but I do have some work to do for a few hours a day and doing so my first night caused so much back pain that I had to find another solution.
I do have a back injury, and I can’t afford to create so much pain from a mismatched stool + table combo.
There was a wonderful person at guest services who heard about my flight and proceeded to show me the conference room and meeting rooms that I could use. He asked me to book with reception.
At Reception, I was then directed to a manager/supervisor Hasan whose style of speech was rather abrupt, cutting me off repeatedly, and showing absolutely no empathy to the situation whatsoever.
If your answer is that I cannot book the meeting room/conference room, then show a little bit of politeness.. and at least empathy to the situation… but he showed none of these things.
I’ve travelled extensively and been to over 30 countries in the world, I wouldn’t be unfamiliar with glitches along the way… As a reasonable consumer of a company’s products (In this case Their hotel services and services), I can understand if something is booked. If Hasan’s approach showed even the slightest bit of empathy or patience to the fact that while healing from a back injury, something a little* bit ergonomic would make a big difference to pain levels, rather than an abrasive and unempathetic attitude that I got, I might’ve even walked away from the conversation satisfied and feeling supported.
That’s the problem with Customer Service these days… Even a four star hotel isn’t producing a manager level person who can pause a bit and show a little bit of care to their guest. Unfortunately, due to his attitude of haughtiness, my experience was nowhere close to that of being at a four-star hotel.

Dear Ms. Wang, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am delighted to hear you found the lobby beautiful and your bed comfortable, but I regret that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding the table and stool in your room, I completely understand how important a suitable workspace is, particularly with your back injury. While our single rooms are designed to maximize space, I apologize that this setup did not meet your needs. We are reviewing your feedback to explore how we can better accommodate guests requiring ergonomic options. On the matter of the meeting rooms, after investigating, I can confirm that they were unfortunately fully booked during your stay. While we strive to accommodate all requests, this was an exceptional circumstance. I sincerely apologize if this was not clearly communicated at the time. Hasan, our supervisor, is a dedicated and valued team member who aims to provide solutions in line with the hotel's policies and availability. We appreciate your feedback and will use it as an opportunity to ensure our communication reflects care and understanding, even when solutions are limited. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide the exceptional service and care we pride ourselves on. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly, and I will ensure every effort is made to enhance your next stay with us. Kind regards, Robertos Duty Manager

Though we have visited London many times over many years, it has been predominantly for day trips or overnight theatre trips.. In our mid 70s, we thought it was time to revisit some of the places in our own capital at leisure. When looking for a hotel for a city break anywhere, I note the proximity to places we want to visit and all public transport. This hotel ticks both boxes. We don’t like the underground and have travelled around London before by bus and the number 26 from Victoria Station took us almost to the door. The underground station via Green Park, is Covent Garden. We booked a superior twin to stay for 7 nights in June. Check in was swift and straight forward as was checking out, which was done on the hotel's app. The room on the second floor was smaller than we are used to. The tiny window looked out on to a wall, but as it was clearly at the back of the hotel it was quiet. Twin beds, a small bedside table on either side and a wardrobe, a table and one chair. The safe is housed in the wardrobe. There were too few hangers and as there was no chest of drawers, I used the hotel app to order more hangers and ten minutes later they are brought to our room! There is a flat screen TV and below that a shelf unit with tea and coffee making facilities, no fridge. Two plastic bottles of water are provided on arrival and can be refilled at a water fountain next to the lifts. Much less wasteful than a constant supply of water bottles and good grief, what is wrong with tap water! The room was cleaned daily if required but there was the option to opt out of this for a reward of £7 to spend in the bar. Innovative idea! We both found the bed and pillows comfortable. The air con was efficient and the bathroom was very modern with a lovely efficient walk in shower. Very nice products too. The room was well supplied with power sockets and USB ports. We did not dine in the hotel in the evening, but had opted for breakfast when we booked. The dining room is large and busy and the food on offer is extensive. The cooked food buffet is served at a great rate so any queues move fast and all looked freshly cooked and was indeed hot and delicious. The waiting staff go about their job efficiently and are helpful. So much is within walking distance of this hotel. Covent Garden with is literally round the corner and numerous theatres are but a short walk. We enjoyed a musical at the Prince Edward on Old Compton Street, within easy walking distance as was the British Museum for example. Cross the road and a path takes you to the River. We still have a list of places we want to revise in London and most certainly we will be booking this hotel again.

I’ve stayed at this hotel plenty of times and the staff at the front desk are polite and very accommodating. Today in particular Alisha checked me in and informed me of my options as I had 2 separate bookings. I appreciate her looking into possible alternatives and setting my expectations ahead of time. She clearly explained the checkin/out process since I have 2 bookings which I appreciated. The rooms are clean, there is a variety of breakfast items to suit everyone’s dietary needs and its location is central to all major attractions and within 2 miles of shopping.

We booked from day 4 to 14. As soon as we arrived they explained to us that for "environmental reasons" they wash the room every 3 days and for every day that the room is not cleaned, we have a £7 voucher that we can use in the pub or in the hotel restaurant. Apart from the fact that with the hotel prices, the voucher didn't even include a soft drink each (there were 2 of us), let alone a drink.. we accumulate some and when we go to drink we put it on the room bill, only to then discover that the vouchers had to be presented at the bar at the time of consumption. After a few days we go back to the bar and they tell us that you can't use more than 2 vouchers at a time!! So basically we were left with unused vouchers because they wouldn't let us spend them. The most disgusting thing is that this information was not given to us from the beginning but the rules changed day by day!! It should be underlined that when we arrived in the room we found socks from previous customers, denoting the fact that there is no attention paid to cleaning. Then they said that the room would be cleaned every 3 days, but from our arrival (April 4th) until Tuesday 9th no one had yet come to clean the room so I had to contact the reception to ask for my room to be cleaned because despite asking to the cleaning ladies on the floors, they don't speak a word of English, Italian or Spanish!!! The situation recurred the following Saturday identically. Considering that we arrived on the 4th we had breakfast peacefully in the hotel without any problem until Monday when they told us that breakfast is not included in our stay so from Monday onwards we prefer to have breakfast outside, and then come to discover THE DAY OF DEPARTURE from another receptionist that we had breakfast included! A truly ridiculous way of treating the customer considering that we paid almost £300 a day.. The location of the hotel is excellent but everything else is really bad. Furthermore, I strongly advise against expensive rooms because even if you upgrade to a room that costs £80 more per day (from Standard to Superior King) the size of the room is practically identical, the only difference is that the bed is larger and there there are 2 chairs around the table instead of one.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Lyceum Theatre and because it was my birthday treat, we wanted somewhere nice to stay. So glad we chose the Strand Palace! It is an impressive building, but the inside is fantastic too. Great staff, clean and comfortable rooms throughout. We loved the shutters on the windows in our room to provide a blackout and soundproofed experience. The hospitality tray with reusable water bottles to use during the stay and handy filling stations in the corridors (quiet to use) was a nice touch. The buffet breakfast was fabulous with everything you could want - the fresh fruit and pastries were particularly divine. The cocktails in the Gin Palace (hotel bar) were delicious too, served in a relaxed and comfortable venue. Special mention for Richard, the doorman, who was a welcoming friendly face and always attentive to our needs.

Strand Palace is great for exploring the West End and Covent Garden. However, the experience felt very functional. The lobby serves as a mixed-use space, combining check-in, guest services, luggage storage management and restaurant all in one area. This lack of separation makes it quite crowded and a constant hive of activity, creating a public rather than exclusive atmosphere.
There is no porter service to the room. We arrived early and had to leave our bags at the luggage room for storage and self collection when the room became available.
The room is simply furnished but very comfortable, featuring high-quality sheets, and a well-designed shower. A standout touch is the hotel’s recyclable red water bottle, which is both thoughtful and sustainable.
While the reception staff, Alock, was considerate in attempting to assign a quieter room, the overall noise levels remained an issue. On one morning, we returned to find two housekeeping staff talking loudly across the corridor, further detracting from the experience.
For travelers seeking convenience and proximity to attractions, Strand Palace is a practical choice. However, those looking for a quieter, more private, and exclusive experience may wish to explore other options.

Dear Karensa2014, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed the hotel’s prime location, perfect for exploring the West End and Covent Garden. We appreciate your recognition of the room’s comfort, quality sheets, and well-designed shower, as well as the sustainable touch of the recyclable water bottle. We truly appreciate your comments and will take them into account as we work on enhancing the flow of the lobby and other shared spaces. We truly apologies for no one helping you with your luggage, we always have atleast one porter or our team tries their best to help with the luggage at all times. We are reviewing our services to see how we can make this process more seamless and accommodating for guests, particularly those who may have early arrivals or special needs. We apologize for the noise issues you encountered, both in terms of the general corridor sounds and the housekeeping staff. We truly appreciate your constructive comments and are committed to improving the overall guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a more peaceful, exclusive stay. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. Warm Regards, Shiny

The people who work at Strand Palace are all lovely and work so hard to make you happy. This isn't luxury but it's also not tacky. The beds are not very comfortable--to me. But they aren't uncomfortable. They do have nice large towels in the bathroom (a rarity even in luxury hotels!) but the liquid soap/shampoo etc. didn't smell good and seemed cheap. One day they forgot to clean our room and when I called down to let them know, the woman asked me if I had left my "do not disturb" sign on the door. I told her I definitely did not. She said she would have to check the video to see if that were the case. I found this exchange a bit offensive. The location of the hotel is fabulous. 3 different tube stops in walking distance plus a bus stop right out front. You have to pay to rent an umbrella and we noticed that other hotels have them available for free to borrow in the lobby. That one little detail seemed to say a lot to me. They have a door man which added something special to the hotel. Would I stay here again? I would. But if I could find a nicer hotel for the same price, I would try it.
