I stayed three nites in this 4* place. The rooms are old and run-down. Bath is small and disgusting. Mini-bar is empty. Room service poor. And if you ask at reception for a travel adapter, you have to buy one at exorbitant prices. I recommend the spend your London stay at another place.

We visited for 3 nights and found the hotel to be welcoming. The rooms were a good size and they were clean. There was a fridge in the room which was useful. The tube is very close by but we walked into central London through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park which took about 45 minutes. There were a great selection...

Excellent location, 10minutes from high street , Kensington which is on the circle line. 20 minutes by tube to Leicester Square and theatre land. Check in a bit slow but otherwise all other services very good. Nice room on the 9th floor which negated the train noise. Hotel was full but noise level was very low, it felt like the...

We used the hotel for an overnight stay whilst visiting the theatres in Picadilly, based near to High Street Kensington station it is excellent in terms of transport links. Overall our impression of the hotel is that it is excellent value, our room was comfortable, clean with air conditioning, the bed was a double (King sized would have been preferable...

This hotel is very well located near Kensington High St. It is a short walk from the tube station and there are lots of nice shops and restaurants nearby. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. There was a very good choice available for breakfast. Tea and coffee were served in large flasks. Coffee was passable but tea was...

Spent 6 days and the location is great - 5 min walk (or less) to High Street Kensington subway station - which is then on same line as most of the museums and attractions. We booked a Club room when we booked the hotel online and then you got full breakfast included which else you needed to buy separately -...

2 hours after checking in and unpacking for a three nights stay, I was told to move room the next day because of a scheduled maintenance. Why didn't they book me for the proper room in the first place or warned ahead of time prior to handing over the keys?! Room 1282 had very spotty internet- poor for sending business...

This was our fourth or fifth visit to the hotel. We looked at some of the cheaper options but finally chose the Copthorne Tara again as we know that we will get good service, very efficient friendly staff, a pleasant room, excellent location and good value for money. We weren't disappointed, we were offered an upgrade on checking in and...

The hotel is clean and the rooms are very nice if you stay in the CLUB rooms. the use of the executive room for drinks and snacks is perfect if you are in London on business. the best part of the hotel is Charles Maw... excellent service and a charming host.

We reserved Tea for Two (which was a frustrating process, I had to call multiple times to get anyone to answer the restaurant phone and when I finally reached someone she seemed to not speak English well enough to understand me, so I had to call again and find someone else to take the reservation) for 1 pm. We showed...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
