The London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square is celebrated for its prime location and modern, elegant atmosphere by numerous guests. While the M Club lounge and the cleanliness of the rooms earn high marks, some travelers have pointed out inconsistencies in room amenities and service, with a few describing the assistance as slow or unhelpful. Despite the praise for the spacious and stylish rooms, there is a sentiment among many guests that the hotel's high cost does not match the value received, especially when service falls short of expectations.

We recently visited London from the USA for seven nights, and the first five of those were at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square. Thanks to holding various credit cards and a late-2023 Amex Bonvoy Brilliant spending offer, we had five 85,000-point certificates which allowed us to stay here five nights free-of-charge.

The rooms at this hotel are much closer to luxury level than at your typical Marriott location in the USA. Our visit began on an auspicious note, in that a room was available for us upon our arrival at the hotel around noon local time after our overnight flight from the USA. Also, that was our first interaction with David the doorman, who is a treasure in his own right, as we now know many agree given all the reviews of this hotel that sing his praises. Our room was on the second floor, which in the USA would have been considered the third floor since the first floor is the floor above ground level at this hotel.

As platinum members, we enjoyed the M Club breakfast each morning -- a lovely spread featuring the fixings for a full English breakfast and also plenty of other choices (including smoked salmon) and beverages/coffee/tea options. Although our favorite Marriott elite breakfast remains a tie between the St. Regis in Houston, TX and the Renaissance Arc de Triomphe, the breakfast here definitely ranks towards the top.

Beyond the lovely historic building, marble-clad bathroom, and comfy beds, two things in particular stood out that made this hotel the perfect choice for us. First, it is located on a rather quiet corner of the Mayfair section of London. But it is just a few blocks away from the Bond Street tube stop, through which three different subway lines pass. We had planned many activities throughout London to experience during our visit, and having a nearby tube station offering so many options made it very easy to get around.

Second, the hotel is just three to four blocks away from all the hubbub that is Oxford Street in London. And many attractions are just a 15 to 20 minute walk from the hotel. A great variety of worthwhile dining options are located just a short walk away, whether you are in the mood for fish & chips or something more fancy. We asked David (the doorman) for some nearby coffee recommendations and also to recommend someplace to eat dinner near the hotel for a night when we had an early morning the next day, and he gave us a multitude of great recommendations in both regards. He is also a lovely person, friendly and kind.

I know that some reviews that I read on here and elsewhere before the trip said that they preferred the J.W. Marriott, located around the corner, to this hotel, but I can assure you that this hotel is very, very nice and did not disappoint. We would definitely stay here again on a future visit to London.

We stayed at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square for five nights in October 2023. One of us is a Marriott Platinum member and has stayed in a lot of Marriott properties; we were exceptionally impressed by every aspect of our stay here.

We stayed in room 409 and loved it: it was an large, updated room with USB ports by either side of the bed and proper drapes that helped make the room completely quiet and dark. Our room also had a fantastic comfy bed and pillows and a huge bathroom (the water temperature and shower pressure were great, as was the high shower head – awesome for tall people!). The temperature control in the room itself was great. We appreciated the coffee and tea bar in the room and the excellent wifi. The only issues we could see from a perfectionist viewpoint was a little mildew at the bottom outside of the shower, and the minibar was one of those old-fashioned pressure point setups that should have gone away by the ‘90s. (They will provide an additional fridge in your room if you ask, though.)

Downstairs was a terrific gym (full cardio and weight training gear – see pics) and the M Club, which we made full use of with our membership access. We are food snobs, and we found the quality and variety of the full breakfasts, tea time treats and evening wine and noshies excellent (the breakfast pastries and sweets in particular – totally shocking in a hotel.) It is high praise that we didn’t get tired of the food despite us being there for five days. (We did wander into the little downstairs bar, but it seemed very desolate so we never had a drink there.)

The staff, to a person, was exceptionally friendly, gracious and helpful.

The location was perfect for us: the new Elizabeth line from the airport dropped us off at the Bond Street station a block and a half away from the hotel, and the property is an excellent base from which to walk all over.

We will definitely stay here again on our next trips to London, and we very highly recommend the Marriott Grosvenor Square.

I’m a lifetime platinum member. Have stayed in 100s of Marriott properties the world over. In April 2024 had two back to back stays at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square and can honestly say it was among the top overall experiences I’ve had. The property is very well maintained. The location near Hyde Park / Buckingham is walking distance to the vast majority of fun spots in London (a city I know well and love). The M lounge was an absolute treasure — great breakfasts, canepes / snacks in the afternoon, wine in the evening, and some fantastic hot chocolate and coffee available 24/7.

What really stood out was the service, both at the front desk and in the M Lounge. The woman who runs room allocation (I believe her name is Kimberly but I could be wrong) was incredibly helpful in arranging for gorgeous upgraded rooms for me and my family. Francesco at the front desk went out of his way to make sure every detail of the stay was perfect. I was celebrating my birthday and even had a bottle of wine, a balloon, treats and a hand written card show up at the room from the staff. And the M lounge staff were absolutely amazing.

We felt we were treated like royalty and it was among the absolute best experiences we’ve had. And as I lifetime Platinum member, I don’t say that lightly. Book a room and see what I mean!

Not the luxury experience one should expect from a hotel that charges £600 a night!
We arrived to find our room without the promised mini fridge but with an old fashioned minibar stacked full of things we didn’t want. Marriotts around the world generally don’t have mini bars stacked with alcohol these days and we were a little surprised that we couldn’t even get a pint of milk in there! So we asked if we could have a mini fridge, not once, not twice, not three times but repeatedly until I had to go and give my very personal reasons why I wanted the alcohol out of the room and fridge to put a pint of milk in!
During our stay we were also constantly disturbed by people knocking on the door. If they’d come with the promised mini fridge that would have been wonderful but actually it was orders coming to the wrong room, people visiting other guests and endless checking of the mini bar that we’d asked to be emptied. Oh and the deadbolt on our door didn’t work.
There’s no lounge area really to relax in the hotel but you can go and sit in the Gordon Ramsey bar not exactly the place to read a book or have a quiet chat.
So was it worth all that money … well the location is amazing and the staff were incredibly polite but I’m not sure that makes up for all the noise we experienced (drunk people at 3.15am making so much noise we had to complain)or the lack of follow through when you made a request.
Finally, in this day and age you should not be able to walk into a hotel and get access to the guest rooms without key access to the floor.
So … would we stay again … that’s up for debate as London is wonderful and a great city to enjoy but this Marriott is not value for money.

My family and I did a trip through the UK following my daughter's graduation from university. Our final stop was London, and we chose to pick a high-quality hotel with a central location near shopping and sights as well as easy access to the tube. The Marriott Grosvenor Square checked all of the boxes - a few blocks away from Selfridges and Oxford Street/Bond Street/etc. and just a block or so away from Bond Street Station (stop on the Elizabeth Line which will take you directly to Heathrow). What we hadn't expected was the excellent level of service from Francesco Magagni and others that really elevated our experience. Our sincerest thanks again to Francesco for looking after us and making my daughter's graduation trip that much more memorable. We will certainly be back, and as a frequent traveler to London for business, the Marriott is definitely going to be my go-to hotel!

Very disappointed by the quality of service at this hotel. We arrived around 8 am and were told we would be notified when our room for 4 would be available. We had already planned for some visits in the morning so were totally fine with that. Around 12 pm got a text saying room was ready so we went back to Mayfair. We were given the keys to the room that we were told had been just been made ready by the cleaning staff. That is almost surely a lie because as soon as we opened the bathroom sink faucet water started gushing from below the sink!! Upon quick visual inspection it was clear that a piece of plumbing below the sink was totally missing. So clearly two things were immediately obvious :1. That room was already available at 8 am when we first arrived because it hadn't been cleaned on the day with a non working sink.
2. Most likely they room had been removed from rotation because of the plumbing issue but someone at the front desk had assigned it by mistake (but why not at 8 am? A mystery)
What is troublesome for a property of the caliber (and the price) of the Marriott is that the staff was clearly uninterested in truly resolving the problem and finding an adequate solution. I was offered as an "upgrade" an obviously inferior room with a small sofa bed rather than a second queen bed for the kids on a lower floor. When I asked that simply the room I had paid for be made available to me I was told there were none available and I would have had to wait.
Even the senior management of the property in follow up emails seemed more interested in informing me of their investigation rather than resolving the issue with an upset customer. Maybe it's a British way of dealing with unhappy customers but it's definitely aloof and extremely irritating. I don't work for Marriott and I don't care about their investigation. What I'm interested in is getting what I paid for and am entitled to. Clearly customer service is not the Marriott Grosvenor Square management forte!
Besides this issue, I would say other negatives are the beaten up rooms which clearly haven't been refurbished in a while and the paper thin walls where I could hear the kids next door screaming well into the late hours of the evening. This is at most a 200 $ a night hotel that's clearly resting on its location as its main (and likely) only selling point at the moment. A shame....

I stayed with my family. We stayed for 4 nights and the staff were very kind and friendly. The hotel front desk is a little old, but the rooms are clean.

I was worried because I had read some reviews saying the rooms were small, but the room we were assigned was quite spacious, so my worries were unfounded.

However, although I had booked a suite, it was on a low floor and did not have a good view.

I thought it was because it was a free stay with points.

The lounge had an open atmosphere, was easy to use, and was quiet. The lounge staff were also very kind. I was happy that there was a lot of fruit at breakfast.

The negative point is that the number of toothbrushes and towels varies depending on the day. You can get them if you ask, and they will come to ask you what you need at night, but they may not be there, so it would be helpful if they prepared it from the beginning. The room was cleaned nicely.

The hotel is very convenient for sightseeing, as it is close to the subway station and tourist attractions, and there are black cabs always stationed at the hotel.

The hotel on its website did not mention the fact that it was renovating the main lobby, but mentioned it (and without specifying the places of work) in the booking confirmation email after the prepayment and non-refundable of the entire stay. The price of the rooms was unchanged despite passing through the narrow and narrow service entrance, whose ceiling you could touch with one hand. The room had an air problem, they changed it but I lost a precious hour in my schedule, I changed rooms but here too the fan was very noisy and I had to turn off the heating at night to sleep. Another surprise phone keys to call room service and lobby did not work, you could only press zero. I requested room service for lunch but twice my phone was put on my face, I had to go down to the lobby myself to order. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone that everything is except a 5 star. The shame of Mayfair.

Booked a 2 night stay here primarily because of the location but also because compared to many similar rated hotels, the cost was pretty good (for London). It’s a stones throw from the tube, Bond St, Oxford St, Mayfair etc. Really couldn’t have been better located.

Front of house staff were very good. Pleasant greeting from the guys looking after luggage and taxis on the door and the lady checking me in couldn’t have been more helpful. The main foyer of the hotel felt a little “meh” and was pretty basic.

My room was small, didn’t need it to be particularly large but it did feel pretty tiny. Nice modern bathroom to be fair but again, small. The room was pretty warm (it’s summer to be fair) but no matter how low I turned the temp on my AC, nothing changed, it was as if the controls were there to give you a sense of control when in fact the hotel decides how cool your room is going to be, this was a real frustration. I also found the pillow’s ludicrously soft. I appreciate not everyone wants a firm pillow but these felt very cheap and I found the uncomfortable.

I also found the hotel room very noisy. Not at fault here but I had some very loud neighbours who were desperate to slam they’re door as loud as they could but I was also awaken on Sunday morning at 6.00am by a member of staff talking on a walkie talkie of some sort, not quietly, outside my room. I wasn’t impressed!!

All in all, great location, reasonably priced but average hotel.

From the moment you walk through the door of this beautiful hotel, you are greeted by the friendliest and most professional staff I have genuinely ever experienced. The guys outside on the door and the reception staff, the waiting staff in the restaurant and the team serving in the lounge. Nothing is too much trouble for anybody. The rooms are spotless and spacious and if you have a request such as a high floor they will do their best to accommodate you. I could not recommend this team of people more highly, Thank you for another wonderful stay !
