The Grange Strathmore is a charming hotel in a lovely area and the staff are really friendly, BUT it is a bit like Faulty Towers! Communication skills are lacking - my husband was staying here the night before our wedding and we had a number of rooms booked. I received an email before everyone's arrival that day to say they...

The Grange Strathmore is a great hotel for a West London stay. Located in a fairly quiet side street, but still close to the tube station and a short walk to the Natural History Museum and Harrods. Although the building is nice and the bedrooms are clean and well appointed, the best part is the staff. Each time we asked...

This was our first stay in Kensington and my wife booked this hotel for 2 nights for my Birthday. The hotel is not very well advertised outside so please study the map to find it. Other hotels have signs hanging outside but not this one! The staff on entering were very friendly and we had been given an upgrade to...

We stayed at the Grange Strathmore in December for 3 nights in a "superior double" room. I will note here that we are two normal (i.e., not obese) sized people. This was the most cramped room I could imagine. There was NOWHERE to even put one's suitcase, let alone the luggage for two people. There was room in the closet...

I stayed here for two nights during a casual visit to London. My reasonably compact double room was well laid out and quite adequate for me as I was generally out and about. The styling was tasteful enough. My room was on the third floor near the end of a hallway and facing west and I had no issues with...

I had previously stayed in the South Kensington area at another hotel and paid double the price that I paid here, and I thought the staff, room quality and amenities at the Grange were just as nice as the more expensive place. The lobby was a little old school, but once we got up to our room, it was very...

My fiancé and I came to London over the winter holiday and stated here for 6 nights. For the cost, especially if you book ahead of time, is hard to beat for the London area. The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the Gloucster Road underground station. The rooms are incredibly small (as in we had difficulty...

Within easy walk to underground station and museums. The room was very small and you have to move sideways along the bottom of the bed avoiding the tv on the wall to access the other side of the bed or climb over the bed and your partner. The sloping sideboard (put a drink on it, turned round and its slid...

Room only - no breakfast. Room lovely - small but very well presented. Nice bathroom - with a full size bath. I found the bed simple too hard for comfort. They popped a mattress topper on for subsequent nights - but the beds are VERY firm. Very helpful professional staff with easy check in and check out. Lovely neighbourhood with...

This is a good three star hotel, although it has four stars. The rooms are very small and you have to move sideways along your bed to the bathroom and sideways along the window. There is no AC which could cause problems in the summer like in many hotels in the UK. There is no heating in the bathroom which...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
