A favourite of independent business and leisure travellers from all over the world, this hotel gets the details right: complimentary WiFi, free English breakfast, a popular lounge bar and restaurant, and discounted use of the adjacent spa and swimming pool at Aquilla Health and Fitness Club. The Rembrandt's beautifully modernised Edwardian rooms were originally apartments for Harrods. The building itself dates from 1911, and was one of the first steel and concrete structures in the UK. All 194 rooms and suites are smartly designed to feel both spacious and cosy, with high technology including flat-screen TVs, free WiFi and free local calls. WiFi is also free in public areas. All guests enjoy a free full English breakfast buffet, included in the room rate. Palette Restaurant serves seasonal British and international cuisine at lunchtimes, including a traditional carvery most days and always on Sundays. In the evenings, you can dine in the stylish Conservatory Bar, or sip a cocktail in 1606 Lounge Bar. And what better way to celebrate your visit to London than with a traditional Afternoon Tea, complete with finger sandwiches and fresh scones with clotted cream? The Rembrandt Hotel places you directly across from London's Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), within a 10-minute walk of the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Hyde Park, Harrods and the Royal Albert Hall. The location is superb – surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and cultural attractions. You can stroll to South Kensington underground station in five minutes. From here, District, Circle and Piccadilly Tube lines take you straight to the City of London, Heathrow Airport and mainline train stations including Paddington and Victoria.

The Rembrandt Hotel has garnered accolades for its sterling location, surrounded by London's top museums and iconic spots like Harrods, making it a favorite for cultural enthusiasts. Guests commend the hotel's spotless environment and the cozy British charm that permeates its premises. While the rooms are praised for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests feel the decor could use an update and have noted variable room sizes and noise levels.
The service is generally applauded for being attentive, though occasional lapses in speed have been mentioned. Despite the elegant atmosphere and the array of amenities, several travelers are vocal about the additional charges and question the overall value for the price.

We enjoyed a four night return visit to the Rembrandt, our favourite London hotel for several years.
The location is excellent for a ‘cultural’ visitor - at the W edge of Knightsbridge, just a few hundred metres from three key museums and a short bus or Underground journey to many others, the theatre district and Mayfair. Shoppers are well served, with Harrods and a range of other retail therapy options close by. There are numerous restaurants in the area and a 45 minute direct Underground train to Heathrow is available from South Kensington station, a five minute walk.
There’s an independent ‘spa’ accessible from the lobby, with discounted fees for hotel guests, but access to the pool is quite limited for children.
The concierge service is very good, 5 star standard.
Room size varies. Our ‘executive twin’ room was well-sized, comfortable and well-equipped - especially the desk area - as was its bathroom (shower over jacuzzi bath). Everything worked.
As usual, all the staff we met were professional and pleasant. WiFi is good and simple to use.
Breakfast is a well-stocked breakfast buffet with staff support, but not a luxury experience.
Overall, the Rembrandt is a good value no-frills four star, recommended.

Dear globaltraveller200 Thank you once again, for taking the time to review The Rembrandt following your recent four night stay, we are thrilled that we are your favourite London hotel and have been for several years! We really do value your loyalty and we also appreciate your constructive, detailed feedback. We are delighted that you describe us as good value, four star hotel, in an excellent location. We believe that our location provides something for everyone. We have fabulous transport connections to the rest of the capital, as our guests have the choice of two underground stations, South Kensington and Knightsbridge, plus we are on a direct route to Heathrow airport. We are in the Museum Quarter, directly opposite the V&A close the the Natural History and Science Museum. Our guests can easily visit Hyde Park, The Royal Albert Hall or Kensington Palace & Gardens of if they prefer they can indulge in some retail therapy at Harrods, Harvey Nichols or the designer shops on Sloane Avenue. As you know there are an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes which cater to all culinary needs, and monetary budgets. Once again, we are pleased that the team were all pleasant and professional, particularly our Concierge team who you kindly rate as five star! We want all of our guests to have a positive experience and to wish to return and we are thrilled that you always do, we are already looking forward to welcoming you back on your next trip. On behalf of all the team, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We (two adults and one child) enjoyed a three night return visit to the Rembrandt.
The location is excellent for a ‘cultural’ visitor – at the W edge of Knightsbridge, close to key museums and a short bus or Underground journey to many others, the theatre district and Mayfair. Shoppers are well served e.g. Harrods is only 800 m and many other shopping options are close by, as are numerous restaurants. And a 45 minute direct Underground transit to Heathrow is available from South Kensington, just a five minute walk.
There’s an adjacent but independent spa accessible from the lobby (discounted fees for hotel guests) but access to the pool is quite limited for children. The concierge service is also very good.
Our ‘Grand’ room was 'compact' but comfortable and well-equipped, as was its bathroom (shower over small jacuzzi bath). Everything worked.
As usual, all the staff we met were professional and pleasant. WiFi is free and simple to use.
The well-stocked breakfast buffet was an improvement on our last visit but there's still some way to go, as it's a three star experience. Service was attentive but cereal and fruit were canned or packaged, and juice, yoghurt and pastries were poor quality.
Overall, a good value no-frills four star but breakfast could/should be better.

Dear globaltraveller200 Thank you for reviewing The Rembrandt Hotel, following your recent three night stay. We love welcoming back our loyal patrons and we really enjoy receiving their feedback. Thank you for your positive comments regarding our Grand rooms, we are pleased that you describe yours as well-equipped and comfortable with a jacuzzi bath and shower, plus easy to use Wifi. Like you we love our location in the Museum Quarter, close to The Royal Albert Hall, Harrods and Hyde Park. Lovely greeting on arrival, and beautifully clean, quiet room. We were in the eaves and it was quite warm. Thankfully, there was AC of sorts in the room - actually just a cooling fan with no temperature adjustment. Not quite cool enough for me. Comfortable bed, good shower, and very nice to have a fridge in the room. The only disappointment was the quality of breakfast - the cooked food had been sitting around a while and the scrambled eggs looked inedible - in fact they looked like egg soup! Croissants were rubbery, and yogurt was all low fat in cheap pots. We had expected better.

Dear MrsVIeP Thank you for taking the time to share your constructive review of The Rembrandt. We are pleased that we provided comfortable, well appointed, clean accommodation with an excellent shower. Belatedly, we can only apologise that the A/C did not cool the room to your preferred/ desired temperature, and that your bedroom on the sixth floor was quite warm. We are also sorry that our extensive buffet breakfast, failed to meet your expectations and that you were disappointed with this meal. We defiantly hope that the positive aspects of your stay outweigh the negative and that you will consider returning to us again in the future. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

Pro’s Great location and very handy for museums, Harrods etc Lovely reception staff Free drink when booking directly with the hotel Clean and hygienic (also plenty of sanitisers provided around the hotel) Comfy bed Good food at reasonable prices Free bottle of water in fridge
Cons No assistance with luggage on arrival Extra charge for Health Club (£10 adult plus £5 child per day and restrictions on children’s times) No toilet brush in toilet First breakfast was fine but on our second day they ran out of hash browns and replaced them with chips (yukkkk) Eggs tasted like powdered eggs and the pancake machine ran out of batter. Room was ok but felt it was a bit basic for the price paid.
I have decided to go for 3 stars as it reflects the above.

Dear Sharryayr Thank you for reviewing The Rembrandt following your recent stay and for listing your pros and cons. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that your recent stay failed to meet your expectations. I am pleased that you loved our location, found the team friendly, enjoyed good, reasonably priced food, had comfortable accommodation and enjoyed the complimentary drink for booking directly. We do offer a porterage service, so I am sorry that you had no assistance with your luggage, Aquilla Health & Fitness is available to guests for a small daily fee, I am sorry that you were not aware of this. Breakfast is the busiest meal of the day at the hotel, again I am sorry that your experience of this meal failed to meet our usually high standard. Thank you for sharing your constructive comments, of course I wish that your stay had been a more positive experience and that this would have reflected in a higher overall score. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

The hotel is quite old and dilapidated. The furniture is old and in need of replacing. Like other guest reviews, the mattress was old and you could feel the springs in your back. It needed replacing years ago. It’s a shame that hotel management has refused to act on their guests feedback in regards to their mattresses, instead insisting in their responses that they only use quality mattresses. Perhaps they only reserve their quality mattresses for the most expensive rooms. Unfortunately this means that if you book a basic room, you risk having a very poor night’s sleep. The included breakfast was very nice, and the staff friendly and helpful. The Airbnb apartments that we stayed during the remainder of our holiday were far superior to this hotel, and much cheaper.

Dear Sightseer53782525476 Thank you for reviewing the hotel, following your recent stay. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that so many aspects of your stay, failed to meet your expectations. The Rembrandt is a traditional four star hotel, directly opposite the Victoria & Albert Museum. We strive to be a comfortable, cosy home away from home for all of our guests. We also have stringent controls in place to ensure that our mattresses are not only turned, but are regularly replaced. Indeed our beds and their mattresses are supplied by one of the largest industry providers. Therefore, I am shocked that your mattress was so poor. All beds and mattresses are supplied by the same company, there is no difference in the comfort of our beds in each bedroom category, Thank you for your lovely feedback regarding our extensive buffet breakfast and the friendly helpful service. We wish your recent stay had been a more positive experience. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We have always chosen to stay at The Rembrandt for the last few nights before flying home to Australia. Sadly this year was probably the last time we will stay there. The air conditioner in the room was very noisey and although it was set to 5 degrees it would not come down past 26 degrees. Maintenance came but did nothing except press the buttons and declare its set to 5 degrees, yes we know that. We were offered another room but not to the same standard ie no view, no twin beds. Sadly we put up with 3 hot nights and very poor sleep, no good for us older generation, additionally we had a long haul flight home afterwards to deal with. We are rating it three because the staff were polite as always and the new menu was excellent, but really the poor sleep only warranted a one. Breakfast has been better in the past. Lastly I think the management should change when vacuuming the lounge area (mid morning ). We found it hard to talk to our daughter on the phone due to the noise of the cleaner and others were also trying to have meetings.

Our family of four stayed at the Rembrandt in late March and boy were we impressed! The location can’t be beat, neither the cleanliness of the hotel. The lobby is absolutely beautiful as is the breakfast area. The rooms are quite British, enough but a little on the older side which I think was part of the charm. Certainly not old and runned down but rather, very british while all the modern amenities were definitely in place. The bathroom was lovely and quite enough space, lots of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel along with lotion. The housekeeping was impeccable. Everyone was lovely at the front desk but gosh Neil is a dream! We actually really miss him since we left the hotel. He is the hotel’s concierge but he feels like a friend. Just so lovable, yet highly knowledgeable and hilarious too! He suggested so much to us which we followed because right away we knew we could trust him. He booked our tickets for the sightseeing so seamlessly with no upsell, just simply helping our family enjoy the time. Scott in the evening made our reservation at the glorious Hawksmoor restaurant nearby and Scott is as sincere and as lovely as they come. The bellman was also so helpful and kind. There is drinking water in the lobby at all times, the breakfast is such a huge spread with pancakes for the children. It could have used some more fresh fruit but still so much to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay. My husband and 2 daughters loved the hotel and the beautiful people we met there! What a find in the middle of the best neighbourhood in London, around the corner from Harrods and a stroll to Buckingham Palace. We will certainly be back!

Check-in was a bit clogged as many people checking out at same time. Didn’t get a room right away but was able to change clothing for a business meeting at the gym changing room which was a quite a number of stairs and corridors away. Got some help carrying luggage to changing room which helped.
Room was clean & tidy and had ample space – especially compared to many other London hotels. Bathrobes and slippers a plus. Minibar available for storing drinks etc. The water pressure was surprisingly good for London. The water pressure was almost too high as the shower spurted water quite aggressively, nevertheless, rather have too much pressure than too little. The gym seemed good and has a swimming pool. However, there’s an extra fee of 15 pounds for hotel guests to use the gym and pool.
Only letdown was the breakfast where the spread was quite narrow. Not much fresh items available – except for some fruit. The usually heavy bacon, eggs, sausages seemed to be in focus. Personally missed e.g. tomatoes and cucumbers which would have made a difference. The pancake machine was a nice upside. The breakfast room was also quite full of people every morning and there was a lot of queuing going on – but nothing non-manageable.
Overall, the building is in good shape and everything was kept clean and tidy. Air con and heating also seemed to work well even though the aircon system was a bit noisy. The location opposite the V&A museum is fantastic with a short walk to the South Kensington tube station. The Kensington area is nice with a variety of restaurants and not as touristy as many neighborhoods can be.

Dear Helsinkiglobus Thank you for your extremely detailed and constructive review of The Rembrandt, following your recent stay. Overall, we are delighted that your stay was a mainly positive experience and that you describe us, as a nice hotel in a good location. We are pleased that we provided clean, well appointed, accommodation with surprisingly good water pressure. During various dates in December the hotel was fully booked, on these dates approximately 400 guests enjoyed breakfast, so we can only apologise if you had to queue and wait. We are also disappointed that you felt that there was a lack of fresh items and that the focus was on the hot, cooked full English breakfast items, as we strive to cater for all of our guests dietary requirements. Like you, we love our location in the Museum Quarter close to the Royal Albert Hall, Harrods and Hyde Park. Our guests also have the choice of using South Kensington or Knightsbridge underground stations or alternatively the No 14 bus which is a 24hr service into the West End, which makes travelling around the capital easy. As you know our neighbourhood also benefits from an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes which cater to all culinary tastes and monetary budgets. We hope that the positive aspects of your stay outweigh the negative and that you will consider returning to us again on a future trip to London. On behalf of all the team we would like to wish you a Happy & Healthy New Year. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

Always saying hello and checking we were enjoying our stay. The room(executive) was excellent and a decent size with a fantastic shower, Breakfast was great and some many things to chose from , I defy anybody to say there wasn’t something they could eat I spoke to a guest who said they’d been going there for 30 years so that proof it’s self of how nice it is I definitely would return to the Rembrandt if I return to London in the near future

An excellent value in South Kensington. A great English breakfast, a great location, and room—though not huge—had everything one needs plus some unexpected luxuries like a spa tub. My room faced the rear and was quiet and had good light and a pleasant view. My only complaint was about charging me a fee to access the room before official check in time, which was quite off putting. Either the room is available or it is not ready—charging fifty pounds to access the room for a visitor arriving on a red eye flight—as most trans-Atlantic travelers do seemed like nickel and diming, as did the entrance fee to the adjacent gym and health club facility.

First of all Hertfordshire is quite a big county so depending on your destination, I think a train would be definitely cheaper. You can get to most main train stations for the underground (Metro) or tube as we say in London. A taxi or Uber would be more expensive depending on your budget.
Dear Stacey V
Good afternoon, I am delighted so many people have answered your questions.
The Rembrandt is on the main Cromwell Road, which is a direct route into London. However, we are extremely lucky that the pavements or sidewalks are wide in Knightsbridge and so you can go out for a morning walk and within 10 minutes you could be in Hyde Park.
Our local area is known as the Museum Quarter, as we are directly opposite the Victoria & Albert Museum and we are a short stroll away form the Natural History and Science Museum.
There are an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes in the area which cater to all culinary tastes and monetary budgets, you will be spoilt for choice and our Concierge team will be delighted to make recommendations and reservations.
I can also confirm that all rooms at the hotel are air conditioned.
If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards
