Stayed at Ke^nsington House in June. Its brochure rates itself a 4-star hote. It is a 1 or 2 star hotel, that is the reality. The pictures on the Internet and its brochure are misleading. The hotel needs serious refurbishment and serious cleaning - the carpets at the entrance and in our room had not been hoovered and we found...

Stayed at Kensington House Hotel recently. Very clean. Staff helpful. Rooms are way too small. Breakfast is sufficient. The place could use an on-site person more invested in the place. Elevator is scary and too small for luggage. All in all the rooms need to be bigger. My bathroom was bigger than the bed area. No place to put my...

Thanks for your feedback. Our lift is quite small, it has to be said, but it’s adequate - one of those design balancing acts that you do when adapting a townhouse into a hotel, trying to save as many original features as possible. The room sizes do vary and on the upper floors, have bathrooms of equal size to the...

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday night on a visit to the (brilliant) Olympics. This review is not about the cost as we have been asked to pay a premium - in this case £204 for a double room with continental breakfast, but more about what we would have said had the price been a normal rate. The positives...

We read your review with interest. To respond to a couple of your points - We are actually looking at installing black out blinds within key rooms so hopefully this will address the light issue. We are sad to hear your comments about the service however – we normally hear how helpful and charming our team is. It’s always useful...

We have now stayed here five times, so that must mean something. Rooms can be very small, though quite stylishly decorated. I got a free upgrade on two occasions, and these rooms were slightly bigger, and have a bathtub. (I think regular rooms only have shower and bathrooms are are tiny). The main advantages are location and friendliness of staff....

The family stayed here in August 2004. My daughter who was 4 still remembers her little bed. Great Location to the Gardens, museums and shopping. Loved the stay back then.

Just got back from spending one night in room 105 at Kensington House Hotel. When we checked in the carpets in the communal areas looked quite dirty but by the evening they appeared to have been vacuumed. So, first impressions were not great. We were given our room keys but no instruction on where the room was located. I assumed...

Thank you for your review. I think there were many issues in play here and certainly, this is not the room you should have been allocated, given the advance nature of your booking. Please accept our apologies. You might be interested to know that we are nearly 60% of the way through a total room renovation at this moment and...

The beautifully decorated and well-lit pictures online are deceiving. Our room is nothing but a bed with thin covers and a few pieces of furniture- cute, but not a place to hang out. Plumbing difficulties abound but have been dealt with quickly. Awesome location, though.

I stayed 3 nights in room 308, a single with its own balcony looking out over Cambridge Place at the rear of the hotel. That this is the wettest spring in living memory, so I could only sit out on it 1 night out of 3 isn't the hotel's fault! The room is definitely 'bijou' but had a single bed;...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
