Stayed for one night on Good Friday as we were going to the late show at Ronnie Scott's. The place is tricky to find but you need to look for a really tall wooden door and the "No 5" logo on the front step. Reception buzz you in and you go up to the 1st Floor for check in. The...

We chanced upon No. 5 Maddox Street after scouring through many many options of London hotels. Based on other independent reviews from magazines, and holiday sites, this hotel's location was simply unbeatable, or so it seems. And when we arrived, it was exactly right. The location is simply superb. 6 minutes or so to Hamleys, in the other direction, you...

I found No. 5 Maddox Street while looking for a hotel online. First of all, it's almost impossible to find. The London cab driver had never heard of it and wasn't aware of a hotel on Maddox Street. Even when we arrived on the street, we couldn't find it. There is no hotel sign, just a notation of the address...

An ideal location for exploring central London on foot. A few hundred yards to the northeast brings you to the fabulous Wallace Collection, the same to the south sees the National Gallery , Trafalgar Square and the National Portrait Gallery, whilst Chinatown, Theatreland and Soho are all around, as is the fashion in Bond Street and South Moulton Street.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
