I just returned from a overnight trip to London and we stayed here. It was great. Bustling neighborhood, plenty of reasonable food choices, close to Bayswater and Queensway Tube stops. Would stay here again if we return. Typical European rooms, small but it sleeps. Rowshanak at the front desk is an amazing host, offering dinner suggestions, advice on the underground....

This was my second visit to Kensington Gardens Hotel. I felt very fortunate to get a room, because the Internet said they were booked. However, when I contacted them via e-mail, a room was available. If you are unable to climb a lot of stairs, do not book here. There is no elevator. However, they did provide (upon request) a...

When we first arrived we were greeted by a young lady for check in. After handing us the key the lady informed us that when we left the hotel we would need to hand it back to reception for security reasons. Then on our return pick it up from reception or if after 5 from a neighbouring hotel down the...

Excellent location in Kensington, close to subway and not too far from the Heathrow Express train. Small building with very small rooms, but clean and functional. Bathrooms are actually good sized - make sure your room has one. It can be a bit noisy with floors and stairs squeeking. The bed was also subpar. This part of town is a...

We spent 4 nights at the Kensington Gardens Hotel in May, 2012, and thought the location was a perfect base for our explorations of London. The hotel is very convient to Paddington train station and has excellent tube and bus service a few minutes away. We enjoyed walking in the area as Notting Hill, the Portebello Market, and Kensington Gardens...

My wife and I have just got back from a two night stay at the Kensington Gardens and had a great weekend. we were welcomed with open arms by Rowshanak who was very polite, friendly and bubbly and made us feel at home. The hotel is in a lovely area, about 5 minutes walk from Bayswater tube station, just off...

If a clean room and convenient location in London is what you are after, at a reasonable price then this is the place to go. Travelling with a friend, we both had single rooms which were cleaned, if not small. But then, when you are travelling in London, why would you spend all your time in your room? This is...

Maybe I need more experience with lousy London hotels to get as excited about this place as other reviewers, but I found it only adequate. I have traveled the world, and stayed in worse places, but none of them cost this much. The triple room we got was 10x 18, tops, with a bathroom full of decrepitude. The toilet seat...

Unclean room up many flights of stairs, not particularly friendly at reception. When you need to leave the hotel (as the reception isn't open for long during the day) you drop your key off to a Best Western hotel a couple of buildings down. It's the same when you leave, if you want the hotel to hold your bags, you...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
