On the recommendation of a friend, we recently stayed at the Tavistock Hotel, Russell Square, London. It was recommended primarily because the price was the most reasonable in central London, and the location is excellent. It was clean, quiet and the staff was helpful and pleasant. The rooms were not very large, but I have stayed in smaller rooms in...

We recently stayed at the Tavistock Hotel, Russell Square, London. We found the hotel to be very clean, relaxing and the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Although the rooms were not very large, there was everything needed. The only problem we seemed to have was with flushing the toilet and apparently that was a problem in several other...

Stayed here just for 1 night. The room we had was overlooking Tavistock Square, although it wasn't huge I have been in smaller rooms in London. Plenty of hot water, only had 2 bath towels so not sure if the hand towels were just not there or normal practice. No air conditioning in the room but for the time of...

You have to realize that the Tavistock is a budget hotel, but it really does provide the average tourist everything one needs. Very convenient location to St Pancras, King's Cross and Euston stations. Also very close to UCL, LSE, and the British Museum. Several tube stops are 5-10 minutes by foot.. A cool Art Deco lobby greets you when you...

I did not stay at this hotel but just popped in for a drink before going to the Bloomsbury Theatre. This is the nearest "watering hole" to the theatre. Prices in the bar were inexpensive considering the location. The toilets were awful and I felt this may reflect the rest of the hotel which tries to have a pseudo Art...

Average rooms, way too hot (central heating so no chance to lower it), a little old and not very big (the double bed). Very poor continental breakfast and overpriced (and not looking very good) english breakfast. Good location, specially if going by train.

Stayed in hotel for 2 nights on a Superbreak. Basic hotel, good buffet breakfast, evening meal in the brassiere, included in Superbreak deal, was good, 3 courses. Only problem was breakfast first day huge queue to get seated and had to forage around for a clean cup, saucer and cutlery; ended up having tea in a paper cup which was...

This is a member of the IHG London and continues their tradition of quality service and price. The rooms are affordable for the centre of London and the hotel itself is conveniently located near the Russell Square tube station, British Museum and the LSE. It is also close to good pubs, cafes and laundries. The breakfast is very good and their...

If your looking for a well priced hotel with in easy walking distance of Theatre land, Covent Market and The British Museum this hotel should be considered. Basic Hotel but clean and with great breakfast, we had a three course meal included the first night stay which we chose to eat in the hotel brasserie, the food was really well...

We booked this hotel for 2 nights whilst travelling by Eurostar. The nights were 1 prior and 1 on the way back. Both times they couldn't find our booking. The 2nd time they were particularly bad as we had only confirmed an hour or so before. They finally put us in a tatty room on floor 6 and as I...

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
