After a swift exit from the terrible Mentone in Cartwright Gardens, Bloomsbury, I was able to book into the Tavistock by walking in and asking for a room as they had cancellations. Room very nice (was very hot as London in midst of a heatwave), bathroom also very nice. Housekeeping staff brilliant, full english breakfast great, friendly staff at the...

I had single room , it was really small, but I had all i need - bathroom, bed (smail one.. but comfortable), very positive thing is that they have free wi-fi but at the ground floor at reception. It is good choice for solo travellers who want to discover London on their own - everything iis very close to the...

Having traveled to London five times in three years I have never had to book another hotel since. The Tavistock Hotel was recommended by a friend who knows London quite well & as a keen walker I wanted to stay somewhere within ten to fifty mins walk of local attractions. Tavistock Hotel near Russell Square is within walking distance of...

Nice hotel, good neighbourhood (British Library!), nice location (ideal for people coming to England by train), good prices. The room was alright, not noisy even if there is a street nearby. Friendly staff.

The Art Deco features are largely limited to reception. The hotel was clearly beautiful at first, but now it's very much a big cash-generator for a company (apparently a family business) that has either no inclination or maybe no funds to invest in it. I've stayed more than once (because of a deal with an employer) and found that rooms...

I stay in central London twice or three times a year, for business. My first time in this place, and a huge disappointment. Even though they advertise free wireless, it is only available in the lobby area and the signal is bad. The room is basic, and without a fridge in July, there are not many options to get cool...

My husband and I spent 4 nights here through Superbreak hotel and rail package. . The hotel is less than a 5 minutes walk from Russell Square tube station. When I read reviews of a hotel, , I like to know the important things such as: if there's a hairdryer, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities!!! We stayed on the...

The Tavistock is a large hotel with a stylish art deco entrance and bar, and is situated in a perfect Bloomsbury location, overlooking the delightful Tavistock Square. By London standards, it offers good value for money, though the rooms are fairly basic and there is no air conditioning. Nor does it offer additional frills like shampoos and shower gels, etc....

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
