When my luggage went missing, the front desk staff at the Maranton House Hotel were happy to be the ones who waited for it turned up, freeing me to go and explore London. And when I couldn't charge my phone to call the lost luggage people, they tried for me twice -- even though it never worked, and we spent...

It is a very average hotel in London. Quite aged, in a typical white Victorian building, side by side with other similar. The plus: very good location in Kensington, close to the tube and shop/restaurant. Our room had also a nice balcony looking at a garden and square. The minus: the breakfast. Cleanliness and pricing...average.

I was in this hotel about a month ago with my boy-friend . The room was small but nice . The breakfast was also good. The hotel has got a beautiful position. It is next to the stop of Earl's Court where you can take the underground to go to the center of london in ten minutes!!

Maranton House Hotel is great, very cheap and the staff are extremely nice. They have awaited me and even gave me a double room as there was no empty single one for a day for free. The breakfast is amazing!

London hotels are expensive, so finding a good one at a reasonable price is fairly difficult. The Maranton House is not spectacular by any means - there's no elevator, single rooms are relatively small, the breakfast is cold (but plentiful). However, the facility is generally clean, although a bit worn in places, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I...

I stayed 4 nights, and it was like nightmare. All I wanted was to get out of this hotel. When I first came into the room, there was an aunt on the wall. Plus, there was another bug on the bad. I thought it was a dirt, but it moved back and forth. And I could also find a spider...

This hotel is quite convenient to Earl's Court. There are stairs so be aware of this with luggage. Rooms need updating. Especially carpets and bedding The bathroom was a decent size and the rooms in the back quiet. Only a cold breakfast is served, but amount of food is adequate. London hotels are expensive and this one is more for...

I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay in it again - despite the low rate. Good Points - Location Bad Points - Toilet didn't flush mentioned this at reception and she said to just keep trying to press the handle - she couldn't care less and obviously not first time it had been reported. Room was very...

I wasn't sure what to expect when booking this Hotel, booked with Hotwire and went with it as it was a good deal but it was a hidden hotel until after booking. First impression is that the room was dated, and it really is. It will be okay for some people but it is not modern by any stretch, the...

My husband suggested that I break up my long weekly commute, by staying over in London once every 2 weeks to give me a bit of respite from the trains. I have tried out 3 different hotels near my office, and this one is the best. Great room, all the facilities and friendly staff. Very cosy. I will continue to...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
