The Premier Inn London Southwark Station Hotel is frequently lauded for its stellar location near key attractions and public transport, all wrapped in a peaceful atmosphere. While the rooms are generally regarded as clean and comfortable, some visitors have pointed out occasional issues with size and noise. The service receives a mixed reception, with praise for staff friendliness but notes of frustration during busy times. Guests enjoy undisturbed sleep thanks to the hotel's effective noise control. The hotel's modern vibe and value, including perks like free meals for kids, are popular among visitors, though there are sporadic comments about the uninspiring décor and inconsistent in-room amenities.

The staff were so good. Friendly. Helpful. Exuding professionalism and a joy.

I was in a lower ground floor. Still a decent amount of natural light and not a bad size room for London. Spotless. Still newish. No complaints.

I breakfasted as part of my booking. Arrived around 08:00 and the range of typical fares were hot, fresh, and appetising. Good coffee. Decor in the dining room is high standard for the brand. Clean. Handsome.

Of course the location is superb for tourism or simply leisure.

Stayed here for 11 nights as a family of four. Initially on check in we were allocated the smallest family room I have ever come across in a premier inn and we have stayed in quite a few. All beds were in a line with no space at all in between. We went back to reception and they managed to find us another room which was much better.

We knew in advance that the rooms weren’t really being serviced due to Covid so we took some pedal bin liners with us which we placed outside the door every morning along with our dirty towels. We asked daily for towels, toilet roll and tea/coffee etc with no issues at all. We also had fresh beds sheets which we just changed ourselves. Rooms were clean and modern and quiet.

The restaurant attached has excellent food especially the evening meal and represented excellent value with the meal deal. Breakfast was very busy but staff hard working and very friendly. Really good choice with kids eating free.

Location was brilliant. Tube across the road Southwark and Waterloo was a couple of minutes walk away. Within Waterloo station was a mcds, M&S, Pret, and loads of other eateries. There are two supermarkets on the row a Tesco and Sainsbury’s very well stocked. Loads of little restaurants and takeaways nearby and a Costa cross the road. Also a couple minutes walk across from Southwark station there is a Nando’s.

For parents with kids there are two small parks 2 minutes away which was great for our son.

We used a variety of tubes and buses whilst in London. We struggled with our cases from
Euston so tool an Uber back to Euston which was only £12 and be to stress free.

Would definitely come back to this premier inn.

Very conveniently located for Waterloo station, although tucked away and easy to walk past (turn off at the Baghdad cafe!) This hotel is very clean and has new furniture and bathrooms and Air Con!
Easy check in and out, friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant for Buffett breakfast next door, which was tasty and great value (kids eat free). 4 lifts so very little wait time to get to your room. Hand soap and shower gel provided in large dispensers in your room, otherwise you’ll need to bring your own toiletries. Tea, coffee, uht milk provided and a small kettle (only two cups, so we asked for more in our family room). Small Sainsburys and Tesco’s nearby and a gails bakery (yum!) in addition to several restaurants (including Gordon Ramsey) a stones throw away. Borough market is a 20 minute walk as is Covent Garden - so great location for exploring. Old Vic theatre two minutes walk. Overall a great stay and will return again.

Staff were friendly but overworked. Too few of them to cater to the volume of guests!
Requested a room change from ground floor in order to feel safer (young female travellers with young female child) but told nothing was available as the rooms were either booked or still being cleaned. This was nearly 5pm when rooms were still being cleaned, despite the new late check in of 4pm! Room was small and cramped, but clean. Family room was a double bed and a single sofa bed which was obviously better suited as a double room. Only two cups supplied and everything was for two people as opposed to three. As a double it would have been spacious but as a family room it was very cramped. Smallest I’ve been in for a premier inn, but I guess it’s what should be expected for an inner city London hotel. Shower power was fantastic but flitted between hot, cold and warm when on higher temperatures. If you don’t have it really hot then it worked perfectly, and really made a difference after a long day! At night time, the room was noisy. You could hear people talking and moving about upstairs and next door throughout the night, and at times it felt like they were in the room with you! We would recommend getting your room cleaned every day if possible - we didn’t, and it was irritating to come back after a full day to full bins etc. Breakfast was hit and miss. The first morning was carnage quite frankly. We arrived at 9am. There was no food, no staff, and a twenty minute queue to get in. The hot food was piled up in the kitchen and no staff were there to bring it out. No milk, no fruit, no pastries either, so when we were finally seated we ended up having to wait for thirty minutes for hot food to come out in dribs and drabs. Apparently, another hotel had issues with breakfast so we had all the guests from there coming over to us, but there was not the staff for this to have worked smoothly. It was completely inadequate for nearly £10 a head! We ended up with black tea, some toast, a sausage and some beans for that price. The second day we arrived at 6:20am as we had a train to catch. We were told breakfast didn’t start until 6:30 which was fine. One member of staff was there setting up. 6:45 came and still no food set out despite it being ready on the kitchen side. One man had to leave without hot food as he had work. The very lovely chef brought it out in the end, apologising that we had had to wait. Third day was much better. Efficient and plentiful. Overall, adequate stay

We arrived at the Premier Inn at around 3pm, we knew we were early as the check in time had changed after we had purchased our train tickets. On arrival at the hotel as we were early we asked the lady at check in could we store our bags and we would check in later as rooms were not ready, this was fine.
As we were a family of four with two rooms paid for and a child in one we asked could we have the rooms allocated together or as close as possible on the same floor, the lady at check in had a look on the system and assured us that everything was fine and our rooms were allocated next to each other.

As we thought that our rooms were together we checked back in a little later at 5.45pm. The gentleman at check in was not very helpful at all. Firstly he claimed we only had one room paid for between the four of us, I had to show him my receipt for two paid for rooms. Next we were told having previously been assured that the rooms were allocated together that they were not and were actually on different floors. We asked how long it would be to get two rooms near each other and were told we would be looking at around 8pm as rooms were still not clean. I fully understand that in a time of Covid rooms have to be cleaned extra thoroughly but I felt this was ridiculous to be told nearly two hours after the original check in time of 4pm that rooms next to each other would not be available for another two hours! 😡
We then asked what floors our rooms were on only to bed told he could not tell us?! I don't understand why as we were a family of four, we were not asking for any other random guests room number just our own. He then gave us the room keys, so we found out the floors anyway.

On entering my room, I was greeted by a dirty pink cleaning cloth left on the side of the bedside table, in Covid times this is clearly not acceptable.

In my sister's room one of the drinking mugs had large sharp chips out of it. When asked on more than one occasion for this to be replaced and also for extra tea and milk this request was ignored the whole way through our stay.

Finally on the penultimate night of our stay, at around 4pm we went to the hotel restaurant to have an evening meal. We were turned away by a very rude staff member saying that the restaurant would be full at around 5pm onwards. We ate elsewhere and when we returned to the hotel between 7-8pm the restaurant was still

We stayed here recently for four nights and was impressed.

Location: This Premier Inn is situated between two tube stations. Southwark station is the quietest, cleanest and closest to the hotel. Turn right off the station and it's a minutes walk on the left. The only downside is, if you're travelling into Paddington station you can't get a direct train you have to change once for the Jubilee line.

Waterloo station is less than a five minute walk. When you arrive into Waterloo station from the underground make sure you exit via an escalator heading down with a Macdonalds on you're right hand side and a Tesco Express opposite you. It is a much busier part but once you cross the busy main road go left and the hotel is on your right hand side.

The restaurant is the Bar & Block and the only reason I have not given this hotel five stars. I can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't indulge. We did eat here one night and have drinks here at the end of each night. The food was lovely but very small portions. We ordered the Steak and chunky chips, the steak looked amazing with the seven chips that came with it. It was a good thing we ordered a side of onion rings. The restaurant always seemed under staffed.

They always seemed to struggle with the amount of guests. When we would go back around 10.30pm for a few drinks the majority of tables were covered with empty glasses and plates but with only half a dozen people inside. The staff were not very friendly. There was always the same three guys and they struggled to crack a smile between them. This place definitely let the hotel down.

The Hotel was awesome in every way. We arrived before midday but our check-in was not until 4pm but they immediately put us in a room. This is the first Premier Inn we have ever stayed in that had a basement and that's where we ended up. Room 33.
The room was a tidy size for the two of us. It had a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar etc and a hairdryer. For us, the most important was sockets as we have so much crap that needs charging. There are sockets and USB points each side of the bed and usual amount on the table. There is not an ironing board or iron but there is one always on the floor somewhere, First come first serve. There is no maid service so for the four days we had to ask for clean towels and more tea, coffee etc.

With plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, a few major sights in central London within walking distance - the London eye, aquarium, Tate modern, Trafalgar Square etc etc and only being a few minutes walk from Southwark underground station the location was perfect for us. The discreet hotel entrance is located down a quiet pedestrianised lane. The area felt very safe and calm (we stayed mid week so can't comment on the weekend). The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. The room is what you expect from a premier Inn and has what you need - very comfortable bed, air con (very welcome in the heat wave) and a powerful shower. Bring your own hairdryer. The staff were welcoming, friendly and customer service standards were high. Breakfast is in the restaurant over the courtyard. Arrive before the rush to be seated quickly; we found just before 8am was good timing. The food was fresh, plentiful and great value with kids eating free with a paying adult. We didn't try the restaurant at any other time so can't comment. All in all we didn't spend a great deal of time in the hotel, but the standard and value of the hotel certainly did make our holiday much more comfortable.

We have just return from 3 nights at this hotel. It is in a great location, close to Southwark and Waterloo underground stations, there is a Tesco and Sainsbury’s around the corner and plenty of bars nearby. This was a great base for a family trip exploring London.

We were checked in quickly and directed to our room which was through the restaurant. Initially I was apprehensive about the room location, worried about any noise from the restaurant but you couldn’t hear a thing! The room was a good size and we could around easily despite having the main bed the single bed and pull out bed. The beds were comfortable and we all had great nights sleep. The hotel was clean and modern and staff friendly.

We ate breakfast at the restaurant, which could get busy around 9am but much quieter around 8:15am. Breakfast had a good selection and set us up for the day.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Dear Sir/Madam

We write with reference to our recent stay at the Premier Inn, The Cut,
Southwark, London, from 20 June 2021 to 25 June 2021.

Shortly after checking into our room (505) we became aware of some staining
on the bathroom wall above and below the toilet paper dispenser. Upon
closer inspection the staining turned out to be blood which, as you will
know is a bio-hazard. We wish to confirm from the outset that this blood was
not ours.

On Tuesday morning (22 June 2021) before breakfast, we called at reception
to report the staining and request more toilet paper as it was running low.
We asked for the bathroom wall to be cleaned to remove the staining. We then
left the hotel for a day’s sightseeing and did not return until late
evening. Once back in our room we immediately checked the bathroom wall but
it was exactly as we had left it that morning. No cleaning had been carried
out, nor had the toilet paper been replenished.

On Wednesday morning we called at reception once again to report the same
issues. The member of staff apologised, promising that the issues would be
attended to that day and once again we left the hotel for another day’s
sightseeing. When we returned to the hotel later that evening we could see
that the toilet paper had been replenished but the bathroom wall had not
been cleaned.

We have stayed in Premier Inns many times over the years and note that this
incident is well below the standard we have become accustomed to.

We did not report the issues again to Reception on the Thursday as we had
lost all confidence that the situation would be rectified.

Before checking out on the Friday I called with Reception to speak to a
Manager but none was available. We wanted a member of Management to inspect
the blood staining before we left so a Reception member (Martha Sanganoo)
came to our room and agreed that the situation was not acceptable.

We feel so strongly about this issue and we are totally disgusted with the
situation especially in light of the current pandemic and the heightened
focus on hygiene and cleanliness. As a result we feel the only acceptable
outcome would be a full refund for the entirety of our stay.

Please find attached photos of the blood stains.

We stayed here for a 3 nights during October half-term with our 2 children, aged 14 and 10. The hotel is at very easy access location. We walked from Waterloo railway station for about 12-15 minutes on day of arrival and departure with our suitcases. The Southwark underground station is literally just around the corner for getting around the city.

The family room was clean and tidy and provided all we needed for a restful sleep after a whole day sight seeing in London.

Only slight improvement I can think of would be a little bit more space between the children sofa bed, popped up bed and main double bed would be ideal as there was no room in between at all. It did not bother us too much as we were only staying for 3 nights but for longer stay it could be an issue I‘d say.

We booked the full breakfast and kids can eat free before busy activities during the day. We were at the Bar & Block around 8am and there were no waiting for us and the selection of full cooked breakfast and drinks were good value for money. There were people queuing when we finished so the tip is to go early and the reception did advise us when we checked in.

The wifi worked to keep our teenager happy and TV is good size. The shower is hot and the bathroom is good size. We ate once at the restaurant and once in the neighborhood. There are Sainsbury and Tesco express nearby in case you need any essentials. We will be definitely returning again when we next visit Lodon.
