The Premier Inn Paddington Basin is commended for its spotless facilities and prime location near key transport hubs, making London's attractions readily accessible. However, guests have had varied experiences with the rooms, mentioning comfort alongside issues like cleanliness and temperature control. While the hotel atmosphere is generally found to be welcoming, some travelers find the amenities basic and have faced service inconsistencies. Despite being a peaceful retreat from traffic noise, opinions on value are mixed, with unexpected charges occasionally souring the experience.

First, the good:
The hotel was brand new, so very little to complain about in the way of cleanliness in the public and common areas. The hotel felt fresh and well-maintaned.

The location was also great, you can hop off the Heathrow Express at Paddington and walk over to the hotel in about 5 minutes. During your stay you also have access to all the major tourist Tube lines via Edgeware road or Paddington. Great!

The staff themselves can't really be blamed for the issues of the hotel. In general they were polite and helpful to the best of their ability!

Now the bad...
Our check in experience was a catastrophe. We arrived at the hotel at 4pm (advertised checkin 3pm) and there was a line out the door. There were people occupying every square inch of the lobby, many of whom had just given up and started getting ready for their evening plans right in the lobby as they had no idea when they'd be getting a room.

We got to the desk after 20 mins in line and the gentlemen simply told us "they had been very busy this week" and thus none of the rooms were ready (>4 hours after checkout?). We had tickets to see the ABBA show at 19:30 and it took my basically begging for a room after two hours of waiting for the man at the desk to get us placed in a room.

Once in the room, WiFi was an issue throughout; as other reviewers have noted. Somehow I get faster WiFi in the remote Canadian wilderness than I did in this hotel - If I got lucky I might be able to load Instagram for a few minutes before it dropped again. Unfortunately, our room also only managed 1 bar of service on EE's network so we were basically cutoff while at the hotel.

Lastly, the housekeeping (did not exist?). Unlike some other reviewers they did at least tell us at checkin that this hotel does not offer housekeeping during the stay - however, this was never mentioned during booking and probably would have led me to stay elsewhere had I known. It's also just very odd to have guests queueing up at reception for extra toilet rolls or clean towels since they are not replenished; as well, you'd best empty your own bins if you bring back a takeaway because it'll start to smell after a few days!

Overall I'd say it's probably worth it for the price and location in London; but know the above before you stay!

The location was good, the room was quiet. Room was not serviced during my stay for four nights, but I didn't mind as how often do you really need to change your bed and towels? I actually appreciated not having chambermaids in the hallways and knew my room would be as I left it.

I've stayed in Premier Inns before and this time I mistakenly booked a Premier Plus room on the 18th floor. I think the only difference was that it had a small fridge. The room was clean and comfortable, extra pillows if needed, a place to hang up clothes and a chair and ottoman to sit on to watch TV. There was also a desk and a coffee maker.

The location good next to Paddington station but you had to walk about 10 minutes to get to the station, on a foot bridge over the canal. Edgware road station is more convenient, a 4 minute walk away.

The front entrance to the hotel is around the back of the building, a bit fiddly to find.

The wifi was adequate but I had to keep signing on as the signal would often drop.

Beware of the add ons. Breakfast is really pushed, and when you check in, you get a wifi code. The code is for Ultimate wifi which is £5 per day, not the regular wifi which is free.

There is a food court at Paddington station as well as a Sainsbury's where you can buy food and booze to take back to your room.

There are two Edgware Road tube station a short walk away so pay attention to what tube line you are traveling on.

Shampoo and conditioner were available in the shower as was gel soap near the sink.

All in all, the room was clean, quiet, comfortable and centrally located.

I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to Paddington to get the Elizabeth Line tube to Heathrow.

Good points: new, clean hotel. Pleasant staff. Very quiet at night (heard no traffic noise at all). Well located. Good lunch at the basement restaurant.

Bad points: mainly, the sheer lack of service. We ran out of soap and loo paper in the room, despite asking for it to be replenished. Didn't see a single member of Housekeeping in the corridors during our two-night stay. The beds and bathroom were clean, but I found two sweets ground into our carpet in obvious places - as if they just don't have time to clean the rooms properly. The beds also seemed particularly hard.

Obviously central London is expensive, but we paid £400 for a two night stay (family room) and for that amount of money, you expect them to get the basics right. We always stay in Premier Inns as a family because everyone gets a proper bed, it's always clean and comfortable and has great service. But this one didn't live up to our expectations unfortunately.

My first stay at a Premier Inn. New hotel, nice rooms. Stayed in the Premier Plus. Staffs extremely hard working, thank you all. Special thanks to Nejam who went out of his way to ensure my stay was pleasant when I had expressed a concern. He sorted it immediately. Too kind.

Certainly room for improvement; WiFi needs to be more stable. Regular room cleaning service would be appreciated, especially for guests staying longer than 2 or 3 days, especially with the pricing, you would expect this basic service. I booked for 5 days and rooms apparently are only cleaned 4 days once. This is not mentioned on the website and only made known upon checking in. Had I known this earlier, I would have reconsidered my option of staying here. A lovely hotel room is unfortunately not habitable after 3 days with rubbish, wet towels, out of stock body wash/ shampoo, coffee and water requiring replacement etc.

Also, there is no phone in the room to contact reception in the event of an emergency, unless I missed it. I found this rather worrying. The hotel does not have a direct phone number accessible to guests either. Any calls would have to be to the general Premier Inn chain enquiries line I believe. I found this a potential safety issue.

Purely for the lovely hotel room, friendly staffs and location, I would love to stay again. But these setbacks on comfort and security given the pricing, would make me reconsider my decision.

A friend and I booked over the bank holiday weekend in late April/ early May. I had never stayed in Premier Inn before and I will not be staying in one again. I booked the location as it was close to Paddington Station but it was really hard to find.

At check in they did not inform us that you needed to use the card to operate the lift and when asking an employee it felt like we were being spoken down too. When we got to the room the toilet seat was not put on properly and when we informed reception they went to try and fix it. They then came back and told us they couldn't and would have to switch to a new room the following day, but when we went to the room it was fixed.

The room we stayed in was a twin and there was a double and a single bed. The double mattress was so hard that I barely slept which was not great.

There were no room service options either and if you wanted food and drinks you had to go down to the restaurant and carry it to your room yourself which isn't the easiest to do.

The worst thing about the stay is we had no housekeeping services at all throughout our 3 night stay, which is disgusting for a hotel as we had lots of rubbish building up. Really disappointed. However the room was clean when we arrived.

The bar and block restaurant had a good selection of drinks and the staff were friendly and helpful. However the portion sizes were quite small for the prices paid.

This was the 4th Premier Inn we have stayed in this year and, despite it being so new, was the worst. We decided to try Premier Plus for a change, but were very soon regretting paying the extra. From previous stays we were aware, and accepting, of the procedure for cleaning but, in practice, having to come down from the 14h floor to ask at reception is not so simple. In short there are two main reasons for this
1 - They can be very busy and you just have to wait. We actually had to stand and witness a lengthy altercation with another unsatisfied guest on one occasion.
2 - They do not always do as they promise when you ask. It often happened that we were told things would be brought up, but nothing happened, requiring another trip down to reception.
We found the staff themselves very pleasant and, when they had the time, quite chatty, but the system does not always work as it should.
One of the issues was that they did not seem to have things readily to hand e.g. coffee pods for the machine, to be able to supply them credibly.
We also, as another reviewer said, had a TV Remote which did not work and, after another trip down to reception, the replacement did not work either. We do not use the TV much and just used the buttons on the back of the TV itself, but this was supposed to be Premier Plus !!
The room itself was fine, but not special in any way. The corridors and lift areas were not air conditioned and we wondered what it must have been like during the heatwave.
We were at the bar one night and, again despite a peasant barman, still had to wait until he went away to do something else for 7 minutes before we could order. To be fair he did see us about to order and asked us first but we then found we could not get the bottle of wine we ordered. Ok, this can happen, but the same thing happened the next night when we went to the restaurant and had an even longer wait after being told what we ordered was not available and waiting for a replacement. The food was fine and the staff OK, but the service was not good.
All these things would irritating with the standard service, but we felt cheated by having paid for Premier Plus.
The location is great and we warmed to the area and walked up to Little Venice (diverting into Paddington Station to have our photos taken with Paddington Bear) and the variety of bars and restaurants nearby was fine, and all very clean and modern. We used both of the Edgware Road tube stations depending on where we were coming/going from/to and they are very conveniently located for the hotel.
All in all if we had just paid the standard rate we would have been fine with it, but felt robbed by paying the Premier Plus rate.

These are the most important things to me when staying at a hotel. The hotel had only been open a month. Room 1506 was a Premier Plus room that was very nicely designed for comfort and convenience. The bed was so comfy and the room was clean and so quiet; we didn’t hear a noise from above, below, side or corridor. My husband & I stayed 2 nights. We had breakfast once which was nice. We also had evening meal on the first night. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was good with lots of choices. The hotel/restaurant was very good value for money and we would definitely stay here again. A brilliant location near the canal and bars. Only criticism is the hotel staff could do with being more informative to guests. They were not busy when we arrived but no mention of breakfast / dinner offer. I had to return to reception for extra wifi code & towel. It would have been nice for the bins to be changed and towels, toilet roll and tea/coffee tray to be replenished for the second day but you are able to return to reception and get everything you need from the very polite staff at reception. The restaurant staff were helpful but breakfast staff need to stop shouting across tables and get on with setting the tables. I guess staff are new and still learning. This would not put me off and we had a great stay and would highly recommend.

Am usually am big fan of premier inn but this one let it down.
Room upon booking in was fine didn’t notice until using the loo that we had been left with about 10 pieces of toilet paper.
Every time we tried to go to reception the queue was out of the door.
We asked staff if we could have more and they said we have a shortage but will see what we can do. Returned to our room later to the tiniest amount more. We ended up going and buying some.
Went to use the hairdryer in the room to find it had a loose connection so went on and off constantly.
Room wasn’t cleaned once during our stay (thurs-Sunday)
After 3 days we had to ask for change of towels.
Breakfast was a shambles queues out the door every morning and limited food left. Didn’t matter what time we came as we tried all different times. Even though there were tables free they hadn’t been cleared.
Evening food was better but still not staffed appropriately and could hear peoples orders being missed and long waits for drinks/desserts.
I’m not someone who demands a room clean and change of bedding daily but basic hygiene like toilet roll should not be rationed. I do think the room should be serviced every other day at least a quick spruce and towel change.
Staff were mostly lovely but clearly doing too much between them and not managing. Therefore taking the brunt of issues beyond their control.
I’d be put off staying again unless this hotel steps up as it’s clearly not working at the minute.

Great location, comfy beds, newer & clean but service lacks a bit
Stayed here July 2022 & chose based on location. We are New to Premier Inn (chose based on reviews/forums) and quite happy with the choice….a few min walk from Paddington Station and convenient for the tube/sightseeing. Price was great booking a few months out at 90£/night
We had a 3 person family room - I will say that the room is tight. Would be tricky to have large luggage and still move around the room.
That said the location is new’ish, nicely appointed and modern touches like USB beside both sides of the bed (pic included).
Small note would be service - not terrific but not “avoid at all costs” awful. Staff seemed aloof and slightly bothered by client’s presence and rooms were a bit lacking re:towels, toilet paper. Again nothing major just little things we had to request (1 towel for a family room? Might have been just an oversight?)
Would stay again :)

Overall premier inns don’t feel to be the same good value they once were. The price isn’t noticeably cheaper than other hotels but the little extras are certainly missing. The rooms do not automatically get serviced this is only done on request. Only 1 pillow per person on the bed Toilet roll from a tissue dispenser instead of a proper roll. Big bottles of cheap shower gel attached the the wall. Hair dryer that only worked intermittently. Overall a budget hotel but not really a budget price when you consider what you can get for 20-30 quid more. The breakfast was good quality and good choice but was very cold as were the plates. The one bonus is the hotel was in a good location and very quiet and the beds are very comfy so did have a good night sleep. Just a warning there is a £10 charge for ‘early’ check in and this is applied right up to the minute so if you arrive 5 minutes before expect to be asked to wait and then there is a scramble at 3pm. All staff encounter have been very pleasant.

We arrived early and were able to leave our bags in a storage area at the hotel. We just asked at reception and it was no problem at all. There was no charge for this either. They do offer some early check in but you had to pay for this and they had no family rooms available for early check in when we arrived as it was half term and other people were already waiting.
