Cable Street Inn is set in a part of London many tourists never explore. The history of the East End is fascinating and is alive in the Inn. Be sure to save some time on your first morning to talk with Julian, the owner, about the history of the Inn, the Docks, the Cable Street Riot and St. George-in-the-East church...

I booked Cable Street Inn as part of a surprise birthday trip to London for my Husband. We were really keen to stay in Whitechapel and experience a Victorian/Georgian historical style weekend. From the moment we stepped through the door at Cable Street Inn we felt like we had stepped back in time. The building has been beautifully maintained with...

This place has the most character out of anywhere I've stayed in London. The rooms are beautiful, you hardly want to leave them! Julian is an excellent host, so kind and always does everything to accommodate us. There is breakfast included in the rate.

My wife and I stayed at the Cable Street Inn for two stays in November (separated by a trip west). The hotel is built into an old tavern (public house?) with three rooms. We stayed in Room 1 which had a nice view out the back of the building into a park with a church not too far away. The...

I recently stayed at the Cable Street Inn which is located a stones throw from shadwell railway station. Firstly, It is conveniently located so that you can get to the center of london in a very short time. I was greeted by the host, Julian, who was as welcoming and hospitable as you could have hoped for. The bedroom suites...

We spent 3 nights at this delightful converted period pub, a few minutes walk from Shadwell station. Julian, the owner greeted us like old friends when we arrived. The room (Room 1) was beautifully appointed with fine artwork, a divinely comfortable bed, a sizeable en-suite graced with a Victorian style wc. A generous continental breakfast was served across the landing...

When we travel, we like to find smaller places with character rather than the big chain hotels. Also we like to experience life in the city away from the main tourist areas. The Cable Street Inn, and the owner Julian delivered that and more. His suggestions, and information about the Inn and life in the area helped make our visit...

This was such a relief after staying at an Ibis property elsewhere in the UK the previous week.. fabulous room, comfortable, everything you need and more. The rooftop garden sets this apart - I spent a lovely hour sitting with a glass of wine reading the newspaper overlooking the adjacent park.. bliss! Breakfast is simple but ample and sets you...

Beautifully restored former pub with LOTS of character... Stayed in the top floor room with a huge bed, lots of space and gorgeous bathroom. It even has it's own rooftop garden which we used last summer. Very handy for evenings out in Shoreditch... 20 minutes to the West End and just a few minutes walk down to the Thames for...

I wasn't sure whether staying in the East End might feel remote or even a little grim. But Cable Street Inn has an enjoyable location -- just a block from the Docklands Light Railway, which seems to run every couple of minutes straight into the City. Fairly calm street, but lively and colorful area just to the north -- mainly...

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
