We stayed at the Grange Portland Hotel for 6 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The room was huge (and compared to Paris hotels, it was monumental) and included a kitchenette, bathroom with shower AND tub, bottled water delivered each day, fantastic continental breakfast (had to go to the Grange sister hotel next door for the breakfast but that was...

I booked in one hotel on this street and got a free upgrade to a huge room in an adjacent property. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and bright with a comfortable bed and kitchenette. It's in a great part of London, on a quiet street very near the British Museum and close to several tube...

Last time I stayed in this area I went for a budget hotel. This time I decided to pay a bit more and hopefully get a larger room. The room I reserved at the Grange Portland was advertised as 'single room, 12 sq. meter with city views'. What I have- I am still here- is a tiny shoebox in the...

The hotel is very convenient for British Museum and is a couple of minutes from Russel Square tube. My room although small was very comfortable. I thought I had two wardrobes but when I opened one of them I found a kitchenette. There was a sink, fridge and microwave. The wi fi was free and very fast. My only criticism...

We just returned from a one week stay at the Grange Portland and had a great time using the Grange Portland as a base for London exploration. We arrived prior to check in time, but the hotel allowed us to leave our bags until the rooms were ready. The hotel is a converted terrace house. A lift is available and...

We were upgraded to the Portland on arrival at the Clarendon down the street. It's a converted town house. Really clean and spacious. We were in room 2. It's a great location easy access to the tube station at Russell Square. There is a beautiful park across the way which has a nice cafe in the middle of it. The...

Staying at The Portland was a great experience. The staff were obliging and friendly. The rooms were quite & spacious especially by London standards. The bathrooms were well appointed & clean. The Grange group of hotels are very conveniently located, within a few steps from The British Museum & the Holbourn station. I would recommend this establishment.

I've stopped in the Grange hotels around Russell Square several times and they have all been consistently well priced, clean, well staffed, and the location is great - 5mins walk from Oxford Street and 10mins from Covent Garden. The breakfast is usually included if you get the right deal, the tube is nearby, but it is also central enough to...

Incredibly large room. Very reasonable price for London. Staff was nice. Free wifi. Separate kitchenette area with tea facilities. We were on what Americans call the third floor and what the British call the 2nd floor. We thought it was quiet. Street is not super busy. Near British Museum. We liked park close by, Russell Square, where they have a...

I stayed at the Grange Portland for a week. It is a comfortable hotel but nothing spectacular. The room was very large and clean. The rooms need an upage very badly though. The wallpaper is a bit peeling and the carpet is stained. However, the hotel is very conveniently located just off of Russell Square and about half way between...

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
